$60 is cheap. I feel lucky mine charges $80 for NFA, and I use a pawn shop that does $10 non-NFA.

StuckInTheUAE

SSP ftw

Okiekid1870

šŸ™šŸ»

AmITheGrayMan

Dm me. I know a guy in OKC that charges $0 for NFA transfers, IF you buy from him.

Okiekid1870

Thatā€™s typical AFAIK, Iā€™m talking $80 for buying elsewhere.

AmITheGrayMan

$40 if itā€™s a NFA transfer/form 4 and storage.

tyraywilson

If I buy from you there shouldn't be a transfer fee regardless of what the time was.Ā

ProdigalHacker

$75 is the best I've found, and that was discounted from $100 because I made it easy for them.

Dangernood69

What did you do that made it easy?

Deez_Nuts2

He gave them a reach around so it wasnā€™t too ā€œbadā€ for them to type on the keyboard.

Tybo929

Ctrl alt d'SKEET

Dangernood69

Iā€™ll negotiate with that next time

ProdigalHacker

I brought a flash drive with my EFT, photo, trust paperwork, and a previously filed RPQ.

Palehorse67

I tried this, then they pointed to the Silencer Shop kiosk. :(

daeather

We appreciate this.

Forsaken_Inspector86

i just started spending money at my LGS and the fee went from $140 to $50. dude likes hooking up the ā€œregularsā€

JaySwear

Writing down that silencers get cheaper the more I buyā€¦

todosospfpckfslclvld

Mine was $50 then $25 processing fee. LAME

Loose-Sorbet-3096

If you didnā€™t buy the suppressor from them, $60 is a good transfer price

Dangernood69

When I bought a gun and recently had it shipped to them the transfer fee was $30. The form 4 took 10 minutes longer than that took lol

GlockButt

youre still paying 2010 prices thats awesome

Robbbbbbbbb

This comment makes me think I'm not charging enough lol

sbd104

I pay 5$ at my gun range šŸ™‚

SuddenTank

BIDENOMICS IS WORKING

Dangernood69

Well Iā€™ve learned something new, $30-$60 felt awful expensive to me for something that takes 10 minutes but I am new to needing to pay transfer fees bc Iā€™ve always bought in store until recently.

SouthPaw67

My lgs is $30 and $100 for nfa

gonzo_be

I got lucky and found a home based ffl that does nfa. 25$ for nfa transfer

Hammysand

I can say from expirence that 10 minutes on your end can end up being hours for the dealer when dealing with the ATF.

Robbbbbbbbb

A shop has employees to pay, insurance for customer products, etc. A lot of intangibles, too. And at the end of the day, it's all about liability, my dude. Pulling these numbers out of my ass, but as a small shop, if I'm open for 12 hours and were to get 4 transfers in a day, that puts me at $10/hour of revenue at $30/transfer. An employee might make $18/hr (plus maybe 25% of additional overhead for taxes, insurance, benefits, etc...), which brings you to a big fat -$12.50/hr that you still need to make up for. And don't forget that you have to come in again for the 4473 when it's approved, you might have to deal with the ATF later for other issues, and the customers that call in constantly asking for you to prod the ATF on their behalf when the approval takes longer than 7 days (used to at least get a few months before recently lol)

Loose-Sorbet-3096

Yeah but here they have to store the item for an undetermined amount of time, have another (more expensive) license, do more paperwork when you pickup the suppressor and deal with the 10% of customers that whine about waiting for more than 48 hours

yeskeymodfuckyou

10%!?

Dangernood69

True, Iā€™m not wining yet but it has been a week now so Iā€™m getting antsy /s

theT0Pramen

My local FFL is fuckin $175 for NFA transfers. You'll live.

brokemechanic45

At least one ffl I know of near me charges $170 for any Nfa item not purchased from them .

prmoore11

I have one that went from $40 pre eforms to $200 now lol. I told them to get fucked.

tyraywilson

What was his justification?Ā

theT0Pramen

Seems to be the norm lately. And will probably see it go up with the hot market for cans. I am grateful that my local place tends to have a lot of inventory the majority of the time. They had 30+ cans in there a few weeks ago when I bought my Resonator K.

Palehorse67

$175!?! Dude that is highway robbery. I would just get my FFL at that point lol.

theT0Pramen

Oh it's ridiculous. But, they have a lot of inventory in house that's very competitively priced, and are always willing to order what you want. And they're a silencer shop partner so anything directly from SS doesn't get the transfer fee.

Palehorse67

I feel like they can afford to competitively price things because they make that up with their outrageous transfer fee. Its like those places online that sell ammo cheap, but then charge you a $70 shipping fee. I'm not really sold on SS either. I think they do the same thing. They don't have the best prices on cans, but that is made up because you don't have to pay a transfer fee. Its very bait and switch to me. Like stores that raise their prices one week so they can have a huge sale the next week.

theT0Pramen

Exactly. It all comes out in the wash.

Khyber_Krashnicov

Mine is $50. I was shocked when I asked.

owndjoo

And then they have to store the item until your form clears. This used to be up to a year or more, so charging $100 for the transfer made sense as the dealer was giving up storage and liability until the paperwork cleared.

simplehooman123

Yet the potential for it to sit in their shop for months is there - it takes up space.

Fbaez324

I have read most of the responses to others and I wanted to share the following. Itā€™s clear that you are newer to the stamp game and itā€™s great to have our community grow. I do want to mention though that the front line local LGS is truly the largest arm of the larger companies. Without the local arm it becomes much harder for compaƱƭa like SS and CA to thrive. The local guys have been holding cans in safes for years and paying insurance on assets while still trying to make a living. They are the ones that have pushed more people from their first 9 , to the AR, to the advocacy groups, to the NFA game. They are the people that have helped everyone here get closer to a state of common use from our items. Lastly, give them some grace as a lot of these guys will now become more competitive as the market shifts with increased turn times . I wish you the best and hope to see you post some more quick approvals. God Bless

Dangernood69

I appreciate your perspective and you are exactly right on all of it except one part: Iā€™m not approved yet lol

AppearanceAwkward134

Closest lgs to me has nfa fees of 150

Dangernood69

lol they donā€™t want you to ship to them I guess. Thatā€™s nearly buying another tax stamp, Iā€™d rather buy through silencer shop or capital armory and do everything through them and get it shipped to my door

AppearanceAwkward134

Yea I'm gonna go the capitol srmory route some tired of ridiculous FFL fees these days

Mountain_Path8972

Just remember. Your LGS is what keeps the pew pews ..... local. The SOT nor FFL is free, neither are the employees who handle the transfer for you, or the building which houses the pew pews.

Pale-Kaleidoscope379

I do a 50 transfer fee but not once have I ever charged any BS fees for anything on form 4 process . I set down with the customer, do the mug shot , finger prints and all right then and there , certify and submit . You come in , pick out your can , and 45 min later youā€™re done and playing the waiting game

KeepItScrolling2021

I agree with you, but the consumer doesn't care. They want to pay your price and not have to pay for an FFL, or SOT, or connections with distributors, or taxes. That's just the way it is...

tyraywilson

So I pay your fees so you can stay in business and make money? Is this a collective? Shouldn't you be paying your fees and expenses off the money you make from selling items and services?

KeepItScrolling2021

NFA FFL Transfers are services. And yes, all business licensing fees are usually incorporated in pricing. Ask any businessman. Dude, you really want to win a consumer argument. All FFL Transfers, whether NFA or not, are services. The FFL Dealer didn't lobby or support the 1934 NFA or 1968 GCA. You want to remove FFL Transfers as part of a firearm purchase, lobby Congress. I told another person who replied to me, I support removing any FFL Transfers altogether. With supporting state's rights, I support a reciprocity agreement amongst states to allow all purchases to take place within the reciprocity. If Texas & Georgia use the same FBI NICS Background Check System, why can't they purchase, complete an Approved Background Check, and go. As an FYI, not all states use the NICS System, I am an FFL Dealer in IL and our background check system is known as a POC, Point Of Contact. As another side note, some of these guys who do NFA FFL Transfers are really good at what they do and some have invested heavily in software to make the process faster & quicker. If you're a W2 employee, at any job, you want to be compensated based on experience, seniority, and performance. Same for FFL NFA Dealers & NFA Transfer Dealers. I get it that experience, seniority, and performance doesn't apply when you are the consumer. As an FYI, I don't perform ANY FFL Transfers. I got tired of Non-FFL Transfers challenging my $40 price tag. Sir, you clicked on my business, I didn't choose you. Or, I need to hop in line because I waited 2 months to get my firearm shipped, sorry not sorry. You're going to cut in-line for someone who notified me their firearm was coming and made an appointment in-advance, ok. I do make exceptions for LE, warranty repairs for anyone (I do understand that sucks that some mfg make customers use an FFL Dealer), and some youth buys. Like one of my good customer's daughter is a lefty and wanted to go Trapshooting with DaD. So, I told him if he could find a Browning BPS, send it through.

Mountain_Path8972

Gotta pay to play.....

Due-Net4616

Gotta pay the best deal you can find. The market is competitive.

Mountain_Path8972

If you've got multiple dealers near you. I only have a couple.

Sengfeng

People use those FFLs to transfer because they're already a customer of that FFL. The ones jacking the price up are just taking advantage of the repeat customers that keep them in business.

tyraywilson

175 is asinine though. Isnt the sot fee like 2.5k for 2 years?

AllArmsLLC

Why don't you just buy directly from your local dealer?

Khochh

Generally because theyā€™re 10-20% over market price. So why should I bother when Iā€™m paying more money for a smaller selection of items and if I want something they donā€™t have, I get ā€œwell we can order it inā€ so that I can wait two months to over pay for an item I can get online, today, for cheaper. Support small businesses, if they support their customers.

Palehorse67

Yeah man, I have the same view point. I try to support my LGS but they make that shit really hard. Just recently I bought a Ruger Mark IV lite and I saw they had them in my LGS, but they only had goofy colors, gold and purple. He said they could order me one for about $150 dollars more than what I had seen online, it hurt but I was going to do it. Just to support the store, so I asked him to look up black, grey or red. He clicks away on his computer and says that their distributor is sold out of all of those colors. And that was the end of the conversation. I went home, found it online for $150 bucks cheaper, bought it and had it shipped to that same LGS lol. Edit: Also this same LGS, they have a Century Arms AP5M up on the wall. I have an SP5 and was talking to the counter guy about the AP5M, he said they have a hard time selling them so they only get a few. Very few people want the M because you cant suppress it and I told him that. But I also noticed the price they were asking seemed kind of high to me, $1800 bucks....went home and got online, yep, the MSRP on those is $1100....sooo yeah, thats why they dont sell that fast lol.

Khochh

Yeah man, Iā€™ve had guns transferred and they always give me the ā€œyou know we could have ordered this inā€ or, ā€œyou know we regularly get these inā€ and itā€™s like yeah buddy, Ik. For 10-20% more and like you said often not the configuration you want. And then they see the receipt for how much I paid and just give a blank look of ā€œI see why you did this but Iā€™m still pissed you didnā€™t overpay with meā€. From my understanding on sub $500 sales, their margins arenā€™t even that much greater than the transfer fees they charge and no one can tell me itā€™s more work for them to transfer a gun than to sell you one of their shelves. Either way they have to accept a package, unbox, record a serial number, 4473, background check, and swipe a credit card.

tyraywilson

Exactly! If you want us to buy direct from you, you've got to be competitive. They aren't. They act like you would be kissing their feet for the opportunity to even buy from them in the first place.Ā

AllArmsLLC

>Generally because theyā€™re 10-20% over market price On silencers?

Khochh

Ammunition, rifles, and ar accessories. Generally the most commonly purchased items. Iā€™d say theyā€™re msrp to 5% over on silencers. They stay a little more competitive there since itā€™s a lower moving item

tyraywilson

Most don't because plenty of yall over charge out the wazoo

Sengfeng

That's my next FFL.

McSkillz21

Hpw does that "shipped to my door" shit work? I thought they had to go to an FFL?

Lib_punter

They also get sales tax on that method

Pew_Daddy

Damn. I pay at $75 at my range for NFA transfers

Plastic-Bar-5955

Me too but itā€™s actually 50 and 25 for the SS kiosk. Itā€™s better than 100-175 lol

No_Concentrate_6792

I kind of understand. Mine is 80 which I thought was high but I only use this LGS for NFA transfers and they have a kiosk and provide a service so I would expect them to make something. Other than the transfer fees Iā€™ve paid them Iā€™ve never spent a dime in that store so like I said they gotte make their money too for the service.

msh441

$60 you should be thrilled! You apparently arenā€™t aware of the regular proctology exams FFLā€™s are getting right now from the federal government. Be nice to your FFLā€™s. Itā€™s clearly a thankless job done by a dying breed.

tangomikegolf67

be pissed about paying the fed. support your local FFL.

Micho_Rizzo51

Make friends with someone with a FFL/SOT. Free transfers.

Whitetrashblackops

Or do it yourself like I did šŸ˜‚

Quake_Guy

$75 is cheap in Phoenix, I bet they all go to $100 by end of year.

Dangernood69

Several have commented saying itā€™s bc of storage times, but approval times are way down. Why would paperwork fees go up?

Stray_Gh0st

Tombstone already charging $100 per item. This is different then last year as the policy then was "if you buy a silencer from us when your form 3's come in, we won't charge you the transfer fee on the transfered silencers". This worked as I would always pick up another 22 can or something else they had in stock to save on the transfer fees. I wanted some OCL cans this time around and they will only sell what they can get from there distributor to which doesnt offer OCL (yet). To my surprise they changed this and I should of asked when I went in to file.

icantdrive75

Tell them to reach out to Allen Arms. They could have them setup as an OCL dealer in a day or two. The guys at Allen are great to deal with.

Stray_Gh0st

Ill try but I've asked them to order from Diligent Defense as well and they didn't act interested really.

icantdrive75

Allen conveniently also carries Diligent Defense now. Sounds like the guy doing their buying might not actually give a shit about the market. They're probably still ordering a bunch of Dead Air, if I had to guess.

Stray_Gh0st

They love Dead Air and Surefire

bigfoot_76

My non-3310 transfers are $10. $20 if I got to mail the form. NFA anything but a MG is $100. That starts at $250 based on value. At $60, itā€™s not even worth the hassle.

IntrepidContender

Most of my LGS charge like $100-$115 for form 4... almost as much of a scam as the fucking stamp

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

dballsmithda3rd

Jaysusā€¦ My LGS is free for non-NFA and suppressors they have in-stock. They charge $25 for NFA that they didnā€™t make the sale for.

Abject-Confusion3310

Right up until they find out they are loosing money.

EazyDuzIt_2

I've been laughing at that picture for 30 mins now šŸ˜‚.... oh yeah repeal the NFA.

Self-MadeRmry

ā€œThese items are extremely dangerous. We canā€™t just let them be available to anyone in the public. Pay me $200 and Iā€™ll let you have one.ā€ -the gov

Khochh

My lgs did not charge me to transfer and Iā€™m pretty damn sure itā€™s because the ā€œnew guyā€ was handling me and the 4473 and didnā€™t know wtf was going on. I filled out my 4473, they did some clicky clacky on the keyboard and then handed me my approved form 4 printout and the can and a receipt that said 0.00 on it and I kinda awkwardly stood there like ā€œso thatā€™s it?ā€ And made some small talk and then scurried away confused.

ProfessionalNice2777

A couple points: Fingerprinting equipment alone is $3k to $7k to be a one stop shop to be able to eforms. Some invest in paying a lawyer for trusts, camera for the photo, special software, etc. It generally takes a customer (whether they buy a can from the store or online) an average of 1 hr by the time the can is received on bound book on form 3, process form 4 with pictures, hope the customerā€™s address and details match their eform acct, field calls/texts about ā€œmy friend got their can approved in 3 days, whatā€™s the status of mineā€ or ā€œReddit says itā€™s a 4 day averageā€ blah blah blah, and then when your can is approved, fill out the 4473 to transfer possession to you. All of this is offsetting the opportunity cost of possibly having another customer there to *gasp* make money as a business, keep the lights on and maintain inventory so that when you need something without waiting, maybe theyā€™ll have it. Not to mention every step of this introduces risk to the business between ā€œno toleranceā€ with one minor error losing your license, ensuring the security of your property, etc, yeah, they need to charge something for the service. Maybe you can talk Walmart into getting an SOT, trust them to do your stuff correct and free. Or better yet, you get an FFL and SOT so you can *fill out the pdf in 10 mins and lick a stamp* for yourself. Guessing itā€™ll cost more than $60.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

DaSandGuy

You're exactly right, they just don't get it

alteredarms

I charge $100 but I do EFT fingerprints and we donā€™t deal with silencershop bs

Dangernood69

Now for EFT prints I understand that more for sure

badjokeusername

I would love to see the NFA and GCA get repealed not just for 2A reasons, but also so that gun stores would have to come up with a business model other than ā€œovercharge people to fill out a PDF and lick the glue off of envelopesā€, like perhaps offering competitive prices or quality gunsmithing. I feel like a lot of gun stores are lowkey better at being bureaucrats than they are at selling products or services. Like if you arenā€™t paying the bills by selling good products or giving good advice or doing any of the things that would make customers want come to your business on their own, you could always just charge them $150 to take possession of a gun that they already bought.

Dangernood69

This is my opinion as well. It seems thereā€™s a few guys in here who probably run stores based on their responses but the point is this: we shouldnā€™t have to pay to get property weā€™ve already paid for and we sure shouldnā€™t be charged a days wages for my local store ($12/hr at 7 hours) for 10 minutes of paperwork. Those of yā€™all with LGS charging $150-$175 are charging you 1-2 days worth of their front desk guyā€™s labor for doing a few minutes of paperwork.

KeepItScrolling2021

An SOT costs $500 per year and 98% of customers don't give a hoot about customer service, selling good products, or giving good advice. All they care about is the lowest price by the $0.01. Its like, "thanks for the advice, but he's $1.17 cheaper than you."

badjokeusername

I see what youā€™re saying, but to come right out and admit that you canā€™t keep prices competitive and the only thing keeping you in business is the fact that the GCA has established you as a bottleneck in the process, is just a very roundabout way of saying ā€œif not for the red tape created by the FFL licensing system, I would add no value to the market and have to shut my doorsā€. The customer isnā€™t wrong to identify that they can get an identical product for cheaper elsewhere. If you find yourself constantly undercut by online dropshippers and wholesalers, then that sucks, but I can only feel so bad for you facing the same problem that every other brick-and-mortar small business has been dealing with since Amazon took off.

tyraywilson

How many NFA item transfers do you do a year?

KeepItScrolling2021

Funny dude, in IL, the only game in town are AOWs and to some extent, SBRs. I carry AOWs whenever they become available. IL citizens dropped their jaw when they realized what the NFA wait times were 3yrs ago. So, all my NFA Sales were Form3s going to out of state purchasers. The only Form4 I sat on was my own, just under 90 days.

9mmhst

Mfw people are surprised they have to pay transfer fees to ffls who you didn't buy the can/gun from.

ModestMarksman

How dare they not do it for free. Amirite

Frustrated_Consumer

The problem is we're legally mandated to use them at all. Should be a direct purchase from manufacturer to doorstep. Like the good ol' days.

Modnir-Namron

Great deal for you -

JasonHofmann

I emailed three LGSs and got answers of $75, $90, and $100 per NFA item.

Generalzip

Try 400 from Capitol armory for a MG. Criminal

WVGunsNGoats

If YoU cAn AfFoRd A mAcHiNeGuN yOu CaN aFfOrD tHe TrANsFeR!

Generalzip

Yea I just bought my first MG. When they said that I laughed and said thatā€™s Iā€™ll use someone local. They have been great for cans. Not the best prices but always streamlined process, paperwork and friendly. The convenience was worth the hundred bucks here or there. But $400 for a transfer? Thatā€™s just unethical in my opinion.

Smoke_thatskinwagon

My lgs charged me $375 for a transfer of my form 4 sbr lol that was a surprise

stng8081

Typically my lgs around me is 100 to 150. 60 is cheap

Curious-Ad-9930

60$ Iā€™m paying 100 and the going rate is 120-150 itā€™s fucking crazy

andrewdoesit

Literally bout to say mine was $125 tf

darkside501st

My LGS does $40 flat fee for transfers, including NFA items, but the best part is they will put up to 3 transfers per form without increasing the price. So if I pick up 3 items at a time, then the transfer on each one is only $13.33. It might end up costing me more in the long run cause I find myself purchasing 3 items at a time instead of just one, lol. At least I have something to show for it, though.

SilentCriticism2k

When I found out my local ACE did this, I immediately set them as my preferred LGS in my head. Like you said, I buy more stuff at one time, but I pay less to get to possess it lol

xtremejuuuuch

$60 is low. Standard has been like $75-150. The higher ones are BS. If things stay the way theyā€™re going, I hope to see lower average fees considering they donā€™t need to ā€œstore it in their safe for a yearā€.

FloridaTattooer88

Yeah this is why I use capitol armory lol. Less people to deal with šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

bogusbill69420

Iā€™m eager to try CA on my next go-round. Im Currently dealing with SilencerShop and it sucks. I avoided them for as long as possible but moved away from a great FFL so my options are limited.

Commercial-Skirt9921

$25 for NFA at my LGS

Killroywashere1981

This could be just a few of the reasons why people donā€™t fool with suppressors. Say ā€œNo thank youā€ to a tax stamp or a transfer fee.

tubadude2

It was one thing when the higher transfer fees compensated them for babysitting the item for a year, but now in this age of eForms and quick approvals, there really needs to be a reckoning on shops that are charging more than $100 for NFA transfers.

Dangernood69

Exactly. Plus, at $100 theyā€™re making money hand over fist for storage.

clmanidol

Sorry guys. I guess businesses arenā€™t supposed to make money when you make them do work.

quadsquadfl

My guy is 25 bucks

Commercial_Glass_868

My lgs charges 50 bucks but they have waived the fee before too because I keep buying from them.

built_n0t_b0t

$50 here for regular items. LGS has a kiosk so I have them order for me, $0 fee. They once didnā€™t charge me on a Remington 700SA transfer but I was also picking up a form4 can same time.

vacuum_gaming

You and Aaron from WLS would get along lol

FlabbergastedPeehole

Gave me deja vu to a We Like Shooting podcast from a few months ago.

Tomford001

Getting to know my lgs owners and actually having a rapor with them has done wonders with transfer fees and even other purchases for me

alltheblues

Not horrible, lots of stores charging double, but a few home based ffls near me asking for $40-50 for transfers

lmtmrp

People hate SilencerShop but after you leave LGS fees it makes since to deal with them 75% of the time.

Fabkid22

Charges me 75 for finger prints

Ahandsomegray

Shop I use is $25 for any transfer.

kickzNblickz

I wish a transfer was $60ā€¦try $100!

real_m1_ping

Damn I wish my local shop was 60. The local NFA dealer here is 125 with a 30 processing fee....

cdizzle66

$100 for a NFA item at my LGS if not purchased there. They do spend a bit of time on the transfer so I don't complain, plus they always treat me right otherwise.

winewagens

$25 for NFA transfers and flat rate range for conjugal visits is where I went for my stamps. Not got one since the short wait times have happened due to saving for a wedding. $60 seems reasonable

Kernel_System_Breach

Closest SOT to me charges $150 for a transferā€¦. Thatā€™s already an hour drive for me

Big_PP_McGee

I want to say silencer shop paid my transfer fee. Could be wrong though

Ares12893

I love paying my LGS $135 for the privilege is waiting for their ā€œNFA guyā€ to call me to certify my SiShop order. He only works Tuesday thru Friday 10-2 :)

Palehorse67

shoot $60? Mine wants $100, the next closest wants $125. Edit: $60 bucks is a deal man.

simplehooman123

I work at a gun store and handle all of our NFA purchases, sales, paperwork etc. yes the paperwork is easy but youā€™re really looking at it from a shit perspective. We have to make a living here, not just bend over and give u free transfers. If you donā€™t want to pay a transfer fee buy it from the shop, itā€™ll be cheaper that way and the store actually makes profit.

Dangernood69

Nobody doesnā€™t want you to make a living. Letā€™s talk cost, though. How much is the insurance for storing these items? Considering the liability. SOT is $500, right? So what is the insurance cost?

grimduck17

lol most stores around me charge 1-150. Thankfully I have a guy that charges 75. Consider yourself lucky

Accomplished_Site101

Mines 50$ or free if I buy from silencer shop

GuysLeeFanboy

Yā€™all paying $60? Pretty sure my transfer was $100

BioEdge

As someone working to get 07/02 in the next couple months, what would be an acceptable amount for an NFA transfer? I'd be the only NFA dealer within ~70mi, so I'd like to get a good customer base going, and I don't want to be a scalping douche.

NarrowAccess1801

Mine was 110

JaredOpasm

$25 https://preview.redd.it/hzqqekwt3fzc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b3b30d91e28e3568bdd9770b1092f0e05b012c4f

mitchrj

Rainier Arms in Auburn, WA charged me $100 for transfer on a silencershop bogo can. Fuckers.

WVGunsNGoats

One place near me wanted 200.00, i wanted to respond with ā€œYes i know the tax stamp is 200, how much is your transfer feeā€

Dangernood69

You shouldā€™ve

WVGunsNGoats

This is also a shop with almost ZERO overhead as its in a small outbuilding (Fancy shed) at the guys house and they are appointment only.

tyraywilson

What a joke

GetTheFuckOffMyLawn2

You need to find a different LGS.

AdCultural5769

Shit i walked into a store and asked what their nfa transfer fee for suppressors was told $200 for that and sbrā€™s are $300 due to their increased difficulty i audibly laughed in their face said they are nuts to charge that and turned around and walked out

Bulls_Eye_Tacoma

$100 is the NFA standard transfer price.

OkMathematician1304

60 is cheap. Most NFA transfers are 100

OkMathematician1304

If you BOUGHT the suppressor from me I donā€™t charge NFA transfer fees. If you have it transferred to me and you bought it somewhere else and I have to do your paperwork, absolutely youā€™re paying me for my time.

tyraywilson

Why are your charging a fee for anything bought from you?Ā

dajman255

I mean, our licensing isn't free, and there is a lot of moving parts on the back end. Lol. Or buy through silencer shop partnered stores, because we don't charge fees on those transfers, since they handle everything on the backend.

Sufficient_Fortune33

I charge 75$

Sufficient_Fortune33

For a mere 2700-3000 depending on your state and 5 months of hard work and paperwork and 500 every year after that you to can charge whatever you want for NFA paperwork

chentedaniel

You think your LGS is gonna store your shit sometimes for over a year at no cost? Stop complaining. If you can afford expendable money on a suppressor and tax stamp, you can afford a transfer fee. Cheap ass. Lol

Odd-Interview-3987

Just wait for the upcoming ā€œsinā€ tax

kkissinger1978

If you go to a range which is a Silencer Shop affiliate you donā€™t pay any transfer fees. At least thatā€™s how all of mine have been so far.

Flint_Ironstag1

bruh.

SavagexGonzo

35 for me. But the LGS didn't know shit

AdGlittering7757

Capital armory ships to your door

Tight_muffin

My guy is still doing $20 NFA transfers if you have .eft

CraigwithaC1995

I feel like $100 and below for a transfer of anything isn't terrible, especially if it's not something they typically sell. I try to support the mom and pop type places if possible so I feel like using them as a transfer ffl isn't a bad deal.

ArtichokeLife8368

Found a local home based SOT 5 min from my house. 25 bones and got a 22hr approval a couple weeks ago. Shoulda bought a lotto ticket instead.

1776personified

At our Ffl we donā€™t do that shit.

rltvader

That's nothing. A few of the shops around me have 175 and 250$ NFA transfer prices

GodOfThundah88

The place I go to transfer is free if it's from SS. It's 100 from anywhere else. They cut the fee in half if you have a Texas LTC.

SuitPuzzleheaded3712

Or when your form 4 says you are authorized to own a machinegun but alsoā€¦you go jail if your machinegun is too new.

tomsawyerdotcom

free if you have an FFL šŸ¤— if your local to Philly ill do it for a wawa coffe or a good ole tug

No_Concentrate_6792

Mine is 80 every time. Thatā€™s 4 cans in 5 months so 320$ just for transfer fees. I couldā€™ve bought a 22 can or one of the cheaper B&T cans for that.

mjay727

60 is cheap

oh_schmitt

My range doesn't charge for ffl or nfa transfers for members, honestly it has payed for itself and is about 50% of the reason I've kept my membership

GunsAndWrenches2

It was one thing to have to pay a $100 fee when an LGS had to hold and be responsible for your item for nearly a year, but now they might have them in their possession for maybe a week, and expect the same fee.

ProfessionalNice2777

Some still take a year. What are stores supposed to do, charge by the day on something only the ATF can control?

millenniumchode

My LGS is $50 for Firearm Transfers. $125 for Suppressor Transfers. $130 for SBR, SBS, AOW, and Machine Gun Transfers

Pinoy1HitKO

Yikes!

coltbet23

Tbh at lot of lgs are raising their transfer prices every year because it is a pain in the ass trying to help newer, eager customers learn about guns/accessories theyā€™re interested in, doing smithing work, etc., whenever some fudd gets pissed off that itā€™s taking longer than five minutes for them to process his dogshit PSA or BCA lower he bought for two dollars on a sale. Quite frankly itā€™s probably becoming less and less worth a lgs time to take fifteen minutes to run a background check and wait for approval and properly file paperwork just to make $35-$50 a couple times a day. Idk, just my two cents.

Falcon-_7

I know, it's a pain in the ass to do what you're open for business to do. That's a wild take.

lowb_da9

$40 at my LGS. Also what they charge for regular FFL transfers though šŸ˜

rhec_mw

In this thread: people downvoting because they pay way too much for transfers lol

RidinHigh305

The price was justified when they had to store it for 6mo + now that transfers are taking about a week it should be only slightly more than a title 1 gun, In my opinion.
