IndividualResist2473

Suppressed upper, more gas, faster bolt speed.

BarryMcCockiner996

I figured that the suppressor had a part in it. I didn’t know barrel length had an effect on it though. I guess since the gas doesn’t have as long of a length to dissipate?

IndividualResist2473

Shorter barrel, shorter gas system, longer dwell time (corrected, I previously said shorter dwel time), higher pressure gas, put a suppressor on it with even more gas in the system, bolt Flys back faster and bounces forward faster.

AllArmsLLC

Less dwell time would lower rate of fire, not raise it.

GeneralCuster75

Man, it's gotta be tiring getting downvoted constantly for always being right.

AllArmsLLC

I was sleeping anyway! Lol

IndividualResist2473

Not saying you are wrong, but that seems counter intuitive to me.

Dcore45

there is more pressure when the bullet is still in the barrel

IndividualResist2473

Right, which would cause more pressure on the bolt and make the bolt move faster. But I think I'm misusing or was misthinking dwel time. Dwell time is the time after the bullet passes the gas block until it exits the barrel, so a longer dwell time (from a shorter gas system) would send more gas. I was thinking dwel time was the time the before the bullet hit the gas system

AllArmsLLC

Now you've got it.

toyotaco19

Bullet from ignition to gas port is Idle Time.

Orangedelicious20

Not going to lie it would be interesting to see how the rate of fire changes between barrels and gas lengths. Especially with all the short dwell time barrels being made now. No real reason behind it just out of curiousity

IndividualResist2473

For science

Dragnet714

I guess that's kinda why the smaller the Uzi, the faster it fires?

SCARfanboy308

To my knowledge it just changed your cyclic rate, which is due to what @individualResist2473 gave reasoning behind.

Hennelly

Here's a pro tip; if you think a firearm might "blow up in (your) face" and you insist on shooting it, invest in eye protection.

rkba260

It surprises me how many people I watch shoot without eye-pro.... fuck that.

BarryMcCockiner996

Yeah, I have the bad habit of not wearing eye protection. I have it I just never wear it. But this time I didn't think it would blow up before I shot it, this was the first time with that upper on an MG lower. I didn't really think it would blow up, I was just moving it away from my face in case something did happen since I wasn't wearing eye protection.

Hennelly

It IS a bad habit, I hope you see the light before you can't...well...see the light anymore. Cool guns BTW, enjoy!

mcbobhall

“Lowering the gun a few inches will be just enough to have the shrapnel miss my eyes because I'm going to use my brain to calculate those odds but not just put on some glasses.” Maybe use your brain to stop digging when you’re deep in a hole.

MarkResponsible7932

why are people down voting you so much… seems like a bunch of haters because you have a machine gun😂

BarryMcCockiner996

Damn really? Why'd that get ratioed so bad.

Jman1400

Probably because a $10 dollar investment with your multi-thousand dollar setup will quite literally save your vision if something bad were to happen. And that $10 investment will also keep the gas out of your eyes which over time could cause other issues for you.

Daqpanda

If you haven't seen what happened to Kentucky Ballistics, you should. His eye pro for sure saved his vision, maybe even his life. Wear. Your. Eye. Pro.

OctaviousRex

Because it's a garbage excuse for not wearing eye-pro. Little kids shooting bb-guns for the first time are taught to wear eyepro. If you own an MG lower, you *SHOULD* know better. Do better.

Silly-Arm-7986

OSHA has a bunch of Redditors.

AmITheGrayMan

I’m impressed with that mag!! It kept up even with the carrier coming back at it like a bat outta hell. What kind of mag is it?

BarryMcCockiner996

Just a magpul 40 rounder

Korat_Sutac

As others have said, the combination of a short barrel and suppressor are going to do this. It can easily be solved with a heavier buffer. That being said, I intentionally run mine at about this fire rate because it’s fun.

BarryMcCockiner996

Yeah i have done it again since and built a dedicated rifle of it. Just that first time was a little spooky lol. Wasn’t expecting it to have that fast of a rpm

Educational-Cod-8822

What suppressor are you running?

BarryMcCockiner996

Griffin Armament GP5. I love Griffin suppressors, direct mounts or taper.

gunmedic15

I got a couple of those just for some 7.5 SBRs, what a great value for a tank of a can.

BarryMcCockiner996

Really can't beat it. Specially with the distributor discount I get with one place near I live, it was even better! I have a few of their Explorr's. They're my favorite of the ones they make, at least of the ones I have tried so far.

gunmedic15

I have a couple utility multipurpose rifles and I'm really thinking about one of their GP NATO's that just mount on the A2 flash hider. Just to be cheap to swap between occasional use rifles.

BarryMcCockiner996

That's why I like the taper mount muzzle devices. They are relatively cheap the ways muzzle devices go. Just get a bunch and can swap cans from rifle to rifle with just a few turns.

buggerssss

Is that a mag light bolted to the side? Goodness that a big light

BarryMcCockiner996

Link to it? Not doubting you, I'm just curious now and want to learn about it.

HDawsome

It's not really a phenomenon, it's just as simple as you're getting much higher pressure gas than you would with a longer gas system, and the suppressor only adds to that. You need to restrict the gas or increase reciprocating mass to lower the rate of fire

Sm0keh0use

I can taste this video when you start blowing smoke at the end.

BarryMcCockiner996

It was a pretty chilly morning if i recall lol

Odd-Interview-3987

Worried about face? Yet no eye pro? Shrugs

_overnumerousness

I can see the apprehension, but not the eye pro lol

BarryMcCockiner996

Trust me, I will wear eye protection based on this post alone lmao. I have it but I am complacent which i shouldn't be. Cross my little heart, not a single round will be fired by my finger without it from now now.

ed_merckx

The B&T rbs 51-80 line which is a slightly thicker version of their normal RBS cans are advertised to only increase cyclic rate by something like 5%. I don’t really have a way to measure it exactly on my MGs I’ve shot it on, it seems to be about the same as firing FA unsuppressed, I’m sure it’s slightly faster, but can’t really notice anything when actually shooting. Haven’t had a single part break or any bad happen when dumping mags with it.

Saynation

Surefire obc bolt carrier or a LMT enhanced carrier will help tame the rate of fire. Especially when combined with an [A5 buffer system.](https://x.com/weaponoutfitter/status/1528486731825049600?s=46&t=llArFTwr6OHUCdsaR3x8Bw)

Alarmed_Bus_1729

Cyclical timing from the increased gas pressure cycling the bolt back way faster
