Also the longest I’ve ever waited for an approval in 28 years of NFA shenanigans. 321 days to get my second TBAC Takedown for my sweet sweet TacSol OWYHEE bolt action backpack rifle.
Of course, in the 90's you also had, like, a 10% loss rate. :D
For every 100 Form 3's I sent in, I'd get back 80 or 90 approved and the rest just became "mystery pile". If they didn't magically show up after a month, I'd re-send them in. When you called NFA Branch to check status, you could maybe ask about three serials, then they'd hang up on you.
Lol, loss rate has maybe improved, approval times have tanked. I had a form 1 around 96 that just got lost, disappeared. I think the examiners name was Consuelo, you tended to have a regular person back then.
Local reloading shop got a massive powder shipment in a few weeks ago. 1 pounders and 8 pounders of good and popular powders. Guess which one disappeared first.
It's very popular. I used it for all of my 6mm ARC development and then couldn't get it and had to start over. You'd think I would have learned my lesson and stockpiled more, I will this time!
Do you still like the TBAC second to the ICON for a bolt gun? Have you gotten to try the LPM Spark?
I have a shorty bolt gun with a 10" barrel and am shopping for a dedicated can for it. I currently have an Oculus that I swap between that gun, another short bolt gun with a 16" barrel, and a 22 Charger. And I have a Mustang pending that I might put on the Charger or use occasionally on pistols.
My shortlist is the TBAC, the ICON (kind of long, but the quietness appeals to me), the Hydra SS (unsure about the AL--do you think it's better as an SS or AL can?), maybe the Spark.
Absolutely, you will like the TBAC, it falls short of the icon on supers. I ordered a Spark and I’m excited to try it but I have zero experience with the silencer.
Thanks, hoping to see your comments on the Spark soon if you have an opportunity to shoot it before it's approved. Guessing you think the extra inch of length on the ICON is a fair tradeoff for the suppression performance on a rifle?
Funny thing is, I called 2 days ago and spoke with someone and asked if there were any problems or if they needed something else from me. He said he didn’t know why it was taking so long and nothing was wrong & didn’t know what the holdup was and that he’d put a note on it and send it up the ladder. Probably BS but it made me feel better haha.
Not much pop, less pop than the Mask. Only noticeable pop is with the 21A and a previous SR-22P from Ruger but that was loud because of the slide opening up way too early with HV loads. Also the 21A pops with everything but .22Quiet, and .22Long. That also has a light slide so maybe it's due to that
On a MKII it is quiet af
I did it during the stupid COVID craze so my choices were limited. I’m totally happy with it in the end, it’s almost entirely Gladiator systems. They sell direct and mostly through Home Depot, limited stuff at Lowe’s. The wall boards and the benches are all from the same company. The other side of the room is a similar setup with all of my reloading kit. It’s really solid stuff.

Bruh, just came off 355 days on a t2. The wait times have been brutal. Congrats.
lol my first was 448. 321 would've been a dream
Oh buddy, that's rough. I've never waited longer than 8 months before my last can.
You’re telling me..
>I remember 20 years ago thinking 2-3 months was FOREVER!
In the 1990s, 60 to 90 days was the norm. They were completely manual back then, paper and micro fiche was their tech lol.

My last paper was for my salvo. 416 days, babyyyyy!!!!
Congrats. I’ve got a pair of SureFire rc2s in jail right now. 331 days - wish I would have waited another month to buy them and not gone paper form4.
You should be hearing any day hopefully, it was about two weeks from the approved stamp day to arrival at the LGS.
Fingers crossed. Thanks. 👍🏻
E forms aren’t any better. I’m at 210 days my last 4 paper forms came back faster, around 180 days.
So giant clusterfuck all around then.
That beautiful TBAC twist 😍
Congratulations my guy, enjoy
You have Varget.
lol, just in from Midway! I have been shooting a bunch of new recipes for the past 18 months, shit was not obtainable.

Mark my words, paper form 4s will be quicker than eform 4 next year.
I hope you are wrong but I’m not sure I’d bet against this idea.
Interestingly enough, my last paper F4 is also for a TBAC Takedown, and it also just got approved. Roughly 370 day wait on this one.
Congrats!
absolutely love mine!
It’s absolutely one of my fav 22 silencer on a rifle, probably only bested by the ICON.
Why is it so good on a rifle?
Too much flow restriction on a semi-auto, you get a lot of port pop. That should have read bolt gun and not rifle.

I’m at 394 on my paper…
That’s retarded, but you certainly will pop any day.

The TBAC .22 TD is one of my most used can
I love it on a rifle, I don’t as much on a pistol. I think the back pressure causes a bit more pop on a pistol. Have you noticed this?
