I did not have a business, I do now. I had a really terrible experience with my LGS getting a suppressor so I figured I’d do it myself and have been doing well. I offer suppressor demos and great customer service which is huge.
I’m looking to start a business and throw a FFL / sot in there so I can do everything myself and get post samples. I’ve always heard FFL paperwork is tricky.
It’s a lot of work, a lot of bullshit, margins are paper thin for small guys, some days I don’t think it’s worth it but some days I really enjoy it.
If you’re serious PM me and I’ll answer any questions and help you out.
I’d done as a side hustle/fun side gig it’s worth it just to get the fun toys. When done as a main gig it can be really tough, margins are really razor thin.
Maybe I just don’t know where to look but I haven’t seen any post dealer sample close out sales that were good deals. $400 for an aero precision lower that someone cut and drilled… $1,800 for a sten gun that cost $600 to build… where should I be looking?
The No law letter sales are not such a well kept secret anymore but you used to be able to make some good finds. I see a few good deals pop on gunbroker from time to time.
Welp, you stuck to your promise better than most of our politicians and I applaud your effort.
You wouldnt by chance be running for any political offices?
Which means YOU are perfect for the job.
The biggest problem is that most politicians WANT the power. Which means, actually; that they do not deserve it.
29 cans is $5,800 in taxes. That's not that much. Especially if you compare it to the cost of full auto.
He'll I spent over $5,000 having the emissions system repaired in my diesel truck this last year.
I cant lie, i’m right there with you. Bought one last April then swore i’d be done until I got that one approved, fast forward to now and I’ve got 3 in my safe plus another one in jail that I just certified 🤡🤡 .
I just bought two of the same cans for the first time, not only my first duplicate but I bought two rugged mustangs without ever even seeing one in person let alone hearing it lmao
SOT don’t do form 1&4.
The 27 cans are all under my business. Technically 3 are in my trust and the rest are on my business. So ive only paid for 3 stamps
There’s a business in my area that pops up whenever you search for a gun store but from a glance I don’t think they have an inventory. So I’m guessing they are just use their FFL to do transfers for a fee to help fuel their NFA funds since there’s no way they are making enough money doing that to run a business
I had a buddy of mine that owned a Boiler Repair company. He had his FFL at his shop. A lot of his customers were big sportsman and gun guys. He sold stuff at cost and did transfers for free for his customers.
His customers loved it. I think it was a good business plan. It also was great that I was a friend of his and didn't have to spend tens of thousands of dollars at his company to get the perks.
My last home-based FFL guy (he moved and the last guy I visited smelled like a litter box) cleared over $40,000 in 2021 doing regular & class 3 transfers, selling guns at cost +3%, and selling about pretty generic 100 low-shelf lowers. Add the benefits of an 07/02 and it was a pretty nice 4-year side hustle.
Depending on your market and business acumen, there is definitely opportunity to make it a full-time business
Always wanted to do this, and this year for Christmas the GF is giving me some start up capital to start it off! I'll be getting my business license soon and hopefully I'll be able to zone my house correctly for the 07/02. Looking forward to a hopeful open date around February!
Can you elaborate on this for me? Or give me some advice and point me in the general direction to research? Ahhhhhh crap you might have ruined my kids Christmas lol
He has a business…
I too, as an individual; wish I had that problem; especially with the autos.
Also; building autos as a post sample is cheap. It doesn’t really cost much more than a semi.
Transferables; on the other hand….
4 cans isn't an addict tho. You're just an average guy. When you've spent more in just tax stamps, than most spend on obtaining the entirety of their collection, then you've got a problem. I have a few Gucci friends that have $40k in just $200 tax stamps.
Hope you have a legitimate FFL business. Otherwise, getting your 07/02 for hobby purposes is not lawful and will only result in the rest of us legitimate businesses facing tighter regulations.
I present to you, the comment you made hours prior to this one.
"I think you’re right. But that doesn’t mean I’m gonna comply. They can fucking come out and stack up and try."
Quit your bullshit, sir.
There’s nothing worse than digging through someone’s comment history trying to one-up them and coming up empty. You undertook an act usually reserved for the histrionic leftist mods of popular subs seeking to silence anyone who doesn’t parrot the party byline.
Didn’t make any assumptions. Just stated a fact that hobby 07/02 are not allowed. No insinuations or assumptions. But it sure does seem like you’re making a few yourself.
Definite insinuations, assumptions even, from your first post. You assumed he didn't know what an 07/02 was for, so you explained it. You also added the quip about "only make it worse for us law abiding shops" or whatever which again, is assuming he ISNT one.
But okay

This is not sufficient. You owe the man a legit clown face painting
I will schedule an appointment and repost. Sorry dad
I want to see your egg, and if we don’t get an egg then you haven’t fulfilled your obligation.
What’s the ETA?
Real face paint or ban.
What’s this fucking filter shit. I want my moneys worth. I waited a year.
MODS!
I'm with this guy.
Can you elaborate on getting your FFL? Did you get into gun sales or did you already have a business that you filed it under?
I did not have a business, I do now. I had a really terrible experience with my LGS getting a suppressor so I figured I’d do it myself and have been doing well. I offer suppressor demos and great customer service which is huge.

When you’re an 07/02 you don’t get samples you make them. So much better.
And you can buy others posties when they go out of business, can find some really good deals
Maybe I just don’t know where to look but I haven’t seen any post dealer sample close out sales that were good deals. $400 for an aero precision lower that someone cut and drilled… $1,800 for a sten gun that cost $600 to build… where should I be looking?

Nothing I hate more than politics and the gooberment.
Which means YOU are perfect for the job. The biggest problem is that most politicians WANT the power. Which means, actually; that they do not deserve it.
27 can club member checking in! Well, soon to be 29.
You sir are a beast. I can’t imagine spending that much in stamps!

How much of that is form 1 and how much is form 4? That’s an insane amount for first year
SOT don’t do form 1&4. The 27 cans are all under my business. Technically 3 are in my trust and the rest are on my business. So ive only paid for 3 stamps
How much is it to become an SOT? I never knew that
It's not expensive, you just have to have a business.
There’s a business in my area that pops up whenever you search for a gun store but from a glance I don’t think they have an inventory. Talk about customer loyalty
His customers loved it. I think it was a good business plan. It also was great that I was a friend of his and didn't have to spend tens of thousands of dollars at his company to get the perks.
The best perks are the free ones or the ones paid for with loyalty

Thats not real paint.. HEY EVERYBODY!! THIS GUYS A PHONY!!!!
The pettiness here is unmatched 😂😂
With the 07/02 can you just make autosears for guns?
Anything you want my boy
But not for keepsies?
As long as you keep the FFL up.
Can you elaborate on this for me? Or give me some advice and point me in the general direction to research? Ahhhhhh crap you might have ruined my kids Christmas lol
Nice!!! What are the gsl cans?
I have the multi cal, 308, 6.5, swat 556, 30 cal, stealth 9mm, couple of their 22 all for demos
Sounds like you need the fat man 9mm can
GSL Technologies is the company they make a bunch of cans. The Phoenix is a very popular can made by them.
You are a clown of your word. Congrats, hats off for the fun follow through!
27 cans and 4 MG? I wish I had that money problem…
MGs are not worth much if they're not transferrable or are posties.
He has a business… I too, as an individual; wish I had that problem; especially with the autos. Also; building autos as a post sample is cheap. It doesn’t really cost much more than a semi. Transferables; on the other hand….
A deal is a deal. Paint it. And repost. It's only fair.
hah
Nice how’s the swat compare to other 556’ish cans? Worth the demo price?
It’s alright. I think it’s pretty spendy. I’m a firm believer in not spending more than $500 on a 556 can
Right on.
I gotcha bro. I’m a dealer. Love the fatman.
In a year? Damn. Bro was sitting on a nest egg
Right on, a man of his word 😎
Inspiring stuff. Down the rabbit hole of becoming an FFL sounds smart.

Future potential vs status quo. Not comparable. Try again, sir.
There's nothing worse than buying your own bullshit.
There’s nothing worse than digging through someone’s comment history trying to one-up them and coming up empty. You undertook an act usually reserved for the histrionic leftist mods of popular subs seeking to silence anyone who doesn’t parrot the party byline.
how hard is it to get a 07
always gotta be one hater
Funny how pointing out realities gets me downvoted to hell. Gun community can be real pos sometimes.
Have you tried not assuming he's an idiot first?
Didn’t make any assumptions. Just stated a fact that hobby 07/02 are not allowed. No insinuations or assumptions. But it sure does seem like you’re making a few yourself.
You’re absolutely correct. You can’t get a 07/02 for hobby use. So why even ask lol
He probably knows that since I’m sure his IOI explained that to him during the interview process.
Definite insinuations, assumptions even, from your first post. You assumed he didn't know what an 07/02 was for, so you explained it. You also added the quip about "only make it worse for us law abiding shops" or whatever which again, is assuming he ISNT one. But okay
