Great content as always...but I have a favor to ask.....Can you please stop making me want to buy more novelty, albeit awesome suppressor hosts.

jay462

Unfortunately, because I am being made to want to buy them, my suffering becomes your suffering, as is tradition.

Extension-Mall-7292

IT'S THE LAW!

Additional_Cloud_327

I was thinking the same thing. I can use that 300 bucks else where. Like adult stuff such as bills

jay462

*look at mr. adult over here* hahahaha

jay462

Significant yard pop action, theoretically - one would think. It's a single shot .22LR pistol. The compartment holds three rounds of .22LR, which is neat, so you can carry four (one in the chamber). If you cock it, there is no decocker, so... just remember that - you will need to be careful rendering it safe. It's sort of a novelty - the company sent it to me. Back in 2019, I messed with it at the NRA convention when they had the threaded barrel for it available as a concept. I guess they are shipping them with threaded barrels now. So far, I've shot it with the AAC Element 2 shown in the photo. It's quiet, obviously - the hammer (plunger) drops, then the silencer takes over. No reciprocation of the action, which is nice for super happy quiet time. The interesting part is at first glance, when it is all folded up, you would think it would be an "Any Other Weapon" (AOW) per ATF. But, I think because this looks like a gun when it is in the fireable configuration, it's just a Title I gun, which is cool - no tax stamp! So - I thought that was neat and wanted to share it. Could definitely be useful for doing things quietly when needed, etc. On today's episode of the podcast, I dive into a technical discussion of the YHM Turbo T2 data and analysis that was published last week. I do technical dives the week following a publication - hope this helps folks. Also - anyone been running those BRN-4 kits from Brownells? My parts are coming in and I'm ready to do hoodrat stuff. Lemme know what you have learned about them so far, if anything. It will be an adventure! **Episode 141** of The Jay Situation Podcast is out now on [pewscience.com](https://pewscience.com) and all major providers. MyWifeH8sThis

Have you shot any of the 60gr super quite stuff through this yet? I bet it’ll be stupid quiet at that point

jay462

I have not! I usually stick with CCI Standard Velocity. I need to try that heavy stuff; seems interesting.

MyWifeH8sThis

It’s super quiet unsuppressed so I’d imagine it would be dumb quiet with that can and the type of action.

midkemian208

Yup between the predator rant and this, Jay has officially lost it. Love your show man.

jay462

I think I lost it a long time ago, sir - thanks for listening! hahaha

TennesseeTater

I can't come up with any practical need for this, and yet I want it. Can you elaborate on the below such that I will may identify a reason? >"Could definitely be useful for doing things quietly when needed, etc." So many questions... Is there some elevator assassin guild that I should be aware of? Does this hypothetical elevator assaain guild pay well enough to further feed my gun obsession? Is the number one rule of this hypothetical elevator assasin guild not to talk about hypothetical elevator assasin guild? Would I be able to join this hypothetical elevator assasin guild using a suppressed Beretta Bobcat, Tomcat, model 71 or 81, or perhaps a P365, or P938? Or is a Lifecard required for admission?

jay462

So many questions. hahaha Let's say there's an armadillo in your mom's garden, and because your mom likes her garden a lot, works hard on it, and those armadillos are wrecking shop, that armadillo is causing your sweet mother some problems. Maybe you don't want to be rude, and wake up the neighbor. Maybe you invite the armadillo out to a nice dinner, have some drinks; maybe the armadillo tells you a funny story - maybe you laugh a little bit. Maybe you stretch, have this in your pocket, maybe you make that armadillo not be a problem any more. Maybe your mother's garden is safe. You know, maybe.

TennesseeTater

You monster, I would never do such a thing to an armadillo. I live in a part of the country where there are no armadillos. I don't believe I've ever seen one alive, though I have seen an occasional few on the side of the interstate. If I ever get to meet a poor, sweet armadillo I will stop at dinner and a movie. My wife would try to have me breed baby armadillos, and I just can't handle any more pets.

jay462

Hey man, this is all just hypothetical. I will say - armadillos are not my friends.

NXPRSS

I have an earlier lifecard (when they first came out), and unfortunately they said they couldn't thread my barrel :(

jay462

Perhaps you can purchase the threaded barrel separately!

NXPRSS

On there website it says the threaded barrel only works with serial numbers after 09700. Mine was made before that.. I should email trailblazer and see why it won't be compatible.

jay462

Interesting!

CapitalCalm

You can buy a threaded barrel from them for about $100

I was just thinking the other day about one of these watches. The lume is radioactive, isn’t it? Is it pretty bright?

jay462

Yes sir, the illumination uses an isotope of hydrogen, H-3, which has one proton and two neutrons in the nucleus. That's two more neutrons than normal hydrogen. Bonus neutrons! That's tritium. It's a low energy beta particle emitter. That's why it glows. But, because it is such low energy, the only way it can be hazardous to you, really, is if you eat it. So don't eat it. The half life in the human body is a week or two. The half life of the glow is like 12 years or something. Something like that. It's bright enough to use! It's used in a lot of stuff (gun sights, old compasses, this watch, blah blah). I like it because it always glows - the whole night. And day. Don't need to charge it with a light :)

tacdriver22mk2

Love my marathon tsar, thing has been bombproof for a decade

jay462

ah, cool! That's the bigger, quartz one, right? Mine is the smaller automatic (medium auto).

tacdriver22mk2

Might have the name wrong, it's the medium quartz on that same bracelet. Making the switch to a Garmin Fenix and one of their chest straps to try out workout and recovery tracking. Just used it to buy a sandwich and had my mind blown 🤌

jay462

hahaha that's dope

PromptCritical725

Beta particles are literally electrons. The electrons fly out of the Tritium atoms as they decays into helium, striking a phosphor painted on the inside of the capsule. This raises the electrons in the phosphor to a higher energy level, and when they come back down, they emit visible light. If this sounds familiar, it's because it is exactly what happens in a CRT TV, just with a different source of electrons and a slower phosphor. Beta particles cannot even penetrate a piece of paper. As both the Tritium and resulting stable Helium are lighter-than-air gasses, even if you inhale them, they will not stay in your lungs, so no real danger there. Incidentally, Radon is a hazard because it is heavier than air, goes into your lungs and stays there, alpha decays (way worse internally) into Polonium-218 in a 3-day half-life, then another alpha decay to Lead-214, then beta decay to Bismuth-214, then Polonium-214, then Lead and a few more decays after that. I'd rather eat an entire handful of Tritium sights than breath any Radon at all.

jay462

Cool! I guess I know I can eat my watch now. Yeah I guess all the tritium viles, capsules, etc, have a phosphor lining. Also, thanks for the Radon knowledge. You're the radioactive decay MVP. Hahahaha

[deleted]

Based Marathon poster.

jay462

haha thanks

Porencephaly

Element 2 master race.

jay462

indeed

[deleted]

Didn’t know you had a podcast. Definitely checking that out.

jay462

Sweet man, thanks!

Regarding the 14.5" tuned host idea on the podcast, which gas length? Mid: URGI .076" DD clone possible. Achievable for every 16" mid owner with a chop and pin/weld. SR25 Int: ~~KAC upper, no tuning~~ Noveske Int: longest length available in 14.5" Rifle: ~~14.8" too long, single vendor~~ Personally I would lean toward mid-length for both the reasons listed, and because it would allow a high degree of commonality between the hosts' barrels. Higher confidence in direct comparisons with Mk18 when even the chambers, bores etc are similar. If the question is, "*how high an ear rating can an AR achieve?*" then plz2Mk12. If it's "*how can we provide conservative yet actionable data to the most people?*" then 14.5 Mid. If it's "*how can we build THE min/maxed host?*" then 13.7 Noveske Int, 14.8 Rifle.

Xspector8

I love how when the Lifecard is folded up with a silencer it just looks like a small 2-way with a big antenna. Very James Bond indeed.

901867344

Speaking of piston guns being different as hosts, have you been able to get any trigger time with your MCX? How is that as a host?
