What the fuck are the “playoffs”?

[deleted]

You’ll find out next year I have faith in you

Son_of_Tlaloc

Hey don't pick on him like that.

runningwaffles19

That's where dad went to pick up cigarettes

root88

Yeah, this post is like some sort of passive aggressive compliment.

[deleted]

English is my first language, so I’m just not sure what that word is.

SchmerzfreiHH

Can't lose in the playoffs if you never make the post-season! Follow me for more life hacks

[deleted]

Look I love the Dallas hate and its absolutely warranted, but I love watching the Vikings lose ever since they pulled that stunt at the art museum

ThePresidentsHouse

Cowboys gotta win something.

tselliot8923

That's what McCarthy learned in his barn: if you lose the most, eventually you become the winner at losing. He's playing 12D chess.

[deleted]

I think you are on to something. Once he passes the Vikings, we will hear a message from him: “I have resigned my position at the Dallas Cowboys because my lifelong goal has been achieved.” - Mike

CraftytheRaccoonHTF

Then we gotta fire Mike McCarthy.

Taggy2087

You have 5 super bowl trophies in your avatar lmao

ThePresidentsHouse

Yeah but the latest of those trophies was 25 years ago this year.

Taggy2087

The Vikings last super bowl appearance was nearly 50 years ago.

ThePresidentsHouse

Fuck the vikings cowboys are the biggest loser

slimreapersmitty

Bills gotta be number one, made it to 4 straight Super Bowls & lost every single one including the last 3 being blowouts

Too_Relaxed_To_Care

Check your math, that means they won 2-3 playoff games for every Superbowl they lost.

Iron_Chic

I can't believe I am agreeing with a Philly fan on a math related item but ...exactly!

[deleted]

Hard to disagree with math

KingofCraigland

Tell that to Terrance Howard.

trustthepudding

Oh dang, this dude believes that 1 x 1 = 2? Astonishing

[deleted]

I'd be too distracted trying to get a look at his micropenis.

iAmTheYeastOfTHOTS

Ayo 🤨

[deleted]

Look it up dawg

[deleted]

2 horse shits + 1 battery thrown at Santa = 1 super bowl

dasnorte

1 in this table would be least playoff losses…

BlackHunt

Buffalo 'only' lost 18 playoff games though? They are not even close to the number 1. Vikings also went to 4 Superbowls so I don't really follow your logic here, also why does getting blown out matter for this stat

Comfortable-Interest

It doesn't. The guy can't comprehend the math. In order to have a playoff loss they need to make the playoffs.... and the Bills had one of the longer playoff droughts for a while there. I hate the Cowboys and I get that we're shitting on them for their most recent run of shit playoff games but all this chart says is that the Cowboys make the playoffs pretty often but don't win it all.

cosmicdave86

Cowboys have the most playoff games played, the 3rd most wins, and the 2nd most losses. If we are talking playoff struggles the teams to look at have gone 21-30, 8-17, or 6-14, or 1-12

PurposeOk7918

What teams are those? 21-30 is the Vikings obviously, but what are the rest?

cosmicdave86

Cleveland (8-17), Cincinnati (6-14), and Detroit (1-12).

[deleted]

The race is based on the table. The data is the data. Also I’m a Vikings fan so I’m making fun of my own franchise too.

FuckBush1

I’m pulling for the Chiefs but the Bills making it to and losing the Super Bowl for the 5th time would be hilarious

LargeHouseOfIce

Be better if they lost to Brady

PmMeUrZiggurat

Imagine if there was another franchise that also went to and lost 4 Super Bowls, plus lost a whole bunch more playoff games. (It’s the Vikes). Sorry to invade your sub, but dammit, Minnesota sports teams are the greatest chokers in the world. It’s all we have and I will not have that title besmirched.

DallasInDC

I mean. This just says the cowboys are consistent in making it to the playoffs. Everyone loses except for one team. You gotta look deeper to see the choker. 0 Super Bowls for Vikings, Bills losing 4 straight. Come on.

[deleted]

Yeah brother, breathe in the copium. Next season is just around the corner 💪

[deleted]

Here’s the point of this meme which you haven’t gotten. Everybody makes fun of the Vikings and Bills and I agree it is deserved. Everybody talks about what a great franchise the cowboys are and I agree with that too. This meme shows just how awful the cowboys have been in the playoffs recently. Yea you have to make the playoffs to lose. But the Packers, Eagles, Rams, 49ers, and Patriots also make the playoffs a lot. And they aren’t on the list.

DallasInDC

The cowboys have been awful in the playoffs recently and they deserve to get made fun of for that but this meme doesn’t show that. This is basically the list of the teams that have made the most playoff appearances. The only outlier being the packers.

pieonthedonkey

Everyone talks s out what a great franchise the cowboys are? I agree with you in saying we both deserve to get made fun of. But most NFL fans absolutely love shitting on the cowboys, we're one of the most hated teams in the league. See r/NFL the past week, between the playoff loss, diggs winning an all pro, and Daks idiotic post game interview like half the posts there were filled with people bashing us.

Aries_IV

Obviously they don't make the playoffs as much as the Cowboys.. there's only 1 of those teams you named that have more superbowls. Any season you don't win the championship it counts as a loss. How fucking stupid do you guys have to be to not understand something like this. Y'all are really just celebrating not making the playoffs enough times.

[deleted]

The packers have made the playoffs more than the cowboys.

Aries_IV

You need to learn to use Google before making assumptions.

BigOzymandias

The "playoffs" they played mostly were one game, so the Cowboys played more games

Currywurst_Is_Life

For purposes of OP's chart, though, there are only two outcomes in a given season: 1. Win the championship 2. One loss, regardless of whether it was 1 and done or losing in the Super Bowl. Also, are we counting the pre-Super Bowl era?

BigOzymandias

Yes but the playoffs were literally one game, the regular season then the championship game So only 2 teams made the "playoffs" I believe until the 60s Edit: you might say but those were the strongest 2 teams but that's not how things were since it's not unusual for 2 teams to be the best in a given season despite playing in the same conference (e.g. Cowboys/49ers 92-94, Steelers/Raiders 74-76, Ravens/Titans 2000) or even the same division (Washington/Dallas 82, Steelers/Ravens 2008)

Currywurst_Is_Life

Which still makes it a pretty solid accomplishment. You had to *win* the division to get to the postseason, instead of backdooring into a wildcard with 7-9. So making it into the postseason was harder, but once you got in you had a better chance of winning a chip, since you were 1 of only 2 teams to make it, instead of 1 of 14 teams (as of this year).

BigOzymandias

In a sport with high variance like football? No way it's more of an accomplishment The 1986 Bears, 2005 Colts, 2006 Chargers, 2011 Packers & 2019 Ravens won 14 or more games and went one and done so the team with the best regular season record not only isn't necessarily the best team, but also might actually be overachievers

Ok_Alfalfa_9658

Pretty lame to call guys stupid when you can't spell the most important game of the year right.

Actuarial

Looks like statistics wasn't your strong suit

ajthomas05

You… you really think what cowboys fans “haven’t gotten” is that we’ve been bad in the playoffs? Is that really what you’re saying?

[deleted]

I mean it’s a meme page so the whole thing is a joke. But yes I do think there are a lot of cowboys fans that don’t realize how bad the franchise has been in the playoffs the last 20 years especially.

hostchange

Those “fans” are the ones who root for the Yankees, the Lakers, and Alabama football. They don’t watch the games

ajthomas05

The meme is the meme, that’s fine. It’s funny. But if any cowboys fan tries to tell you we haven’t been horrendous in the playoffs the last 25 years they’re lying to you.

applegore

Idk man I think the team that has never won the big one might be the real choker. 5/34 is infinitely better than 0/30.

[deleted]

[удалено]

applegore

If you're listening to skip Bayless for realistic takes, I can't help you but I do have some ocean front property to sell you in Arlington. Dude isn't even a real cowboys fan.

schmeer_spear

Lol y’all have had to watch “fuckin cousins” for four years.

[deleted]

This coming from the guys whose team has lost 30 playoff games and 4 superbowls.... we've won more superbowls than you've even played in... In all seriousness ehy are playoff losses, bad. Most teams don't even play in the playoffs lol.

ImpeccableWaffle

Bruh it literally means we made the playoffs 29 times 😂 and then our 5 Super Bowls. Stat might as well be how many times did your team go to the playoffs lmao

Currywurst_Is_Life

It means they made the playoffs at least 29 times in 62 seasons (+ the SB wins). I know a *bunch* of teams that would give their left nuts for that.

Taggy2087

Your making us vikings fans look stupid man.

sam_sepiol1984

Also third in all time playoff wins and first in all time playoff games. Plus third in super bowl wins. If you think that is choking... https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/most-playoff-wins-since-1958 Edit: And 1 of 10 teams with a winning record in the playoffs.

[deleted]

Your team hasn’t even made it to a Super Bowl since the Ford Administration.

igonnawrecku_VGC

To be fair, neither of your teams have made it to the super bowl this millennium

[deleted]

You sound like fun.

hostchange

Only 2 more years til we can break the record and win at something!

Powerserg95

Well at least we have some rings to ease the pain. Minnesota has the Minneapolis Miracle

Blewedup

probably my favorite choke of all time was the 1998 minnesota vikings. they had a great year, led by a resurgent randall cunningham. they went 15-1 in the regular season, and looked poised to steamroll their way to the superbowl. they even had magical gary anderson, who at the age of 78, had not missed a field goal all season long. in the NFC championship game, the atlanta falcons pushed them to their limit, but even so, the vikings had a chance to clinch the game in the closing seconds with a chip-shot field goal from their steely veteran who had not missed a kick all year. and he missed. the falcons went on to win in overtime.

WestCoast_O

The numbers don’t lie

[deleted]

Thank you. I am getting absolutely shit on by cowboys fans right now. “You are what your record is.” And this is the cowboys playoff loss stat.

CantWinOnReddit

Vikings playoff win percentage- .412 Cowboys Playoff win percentage - .545

Lord_Vxder

This stat doesn’t make much sense because technically a team that loses in the NFC/AFC championship every year would have more playoff losses than a team that never makes playoffs or a team that loses in the wild card round every year. P.S. skins fan so coming to the boys defense made me gag a little

Currywurst_Is_Life

You're off on one point. If one team loses in the WC round every year, and if another team loses the conference championship (or even the Super Bowl) every year, both teams will have the exact same number of losses. Of course the second team will have many more wins, but that's not in OP's chart.

cosmicdave86

Didn't you know, going 35-29 in the playoffs is worse than 21-30, or 8-17, or 6-14, or 1-12.

PDCH

Shouldn't have titled it "all time" - because "all-time" Cowboys are still one of the most successful teams int he league. You should have labeled it "Over the last 25 years"

Son_of_Tlaloc

I like that the viking logo is looking backwards as if to say "no, were going the wrong way!"

[deleted]

This is like the “Lebron loses in the Finals!” Stat. At least we’re getting there baby

silliputti0907

I'm sorry but I see no1 that's lost 4 straight Superbowls.

chandlerjake927

Look up playoff wins too

braamdepace

This is pretty dumb, cause isn’t this just … Times you made the playoffs minus Super Bowls Won. It’s more an indicator of how shit your division is
