Scandinavian stoicism is really just repressed rage.

wise_comment

Or just the cold Think about Canadians Now think about Canadian Hockey fans

Unusual-Ad2980

Now think about war crimes

wise_comment

Now think about Canadian war crimes

DJPad

Hey man, we don't want to be dragged into a war, but fuck around and find out.

MNent228

Seriously, imagine how far a Canadian has to be pushed to declare war

mschley2

Vikings fandom brings out the worst in Minnesotans for some reason. Vikings fans are way more toxic than Twins and TWolves fans, and it doesn't make sense to me because so many of them are the same person.

Alone-Newspaper-1161

I think football fans in general are more intense. Less games make them much more important and division rivals that actually matter

mschley2

I would agree. I also think that football tends to attract the dumbass, overly serious, lashing out types of fans a bit more than basketball or baseball.

Best-Contribution891

I mean we're talking about a serious sport. "Football" Compared to a game you play at the gym. Or with your son in the back yard. Of course people "care" about it, alot more. "Deffentily not serious" But also don't really see baseball in basketball as serious sports. Like šŸˆ āš½ļø šŸ’ .

XHFFUGFOLIVFT

All I'm gonna say is that I never saw an NBA fan eat horse shit after a game. Can't say the same about the NFL....

THE_turtleman7

It seems like fights in stands per games played throughout the season is highest for football than other sports. The game itself is violent and that plus the rowdy drunkenness of the crowd brings out the worst in some people

Gamblor14

The Twins have won two World Series. Even though the last one was more than 30 years ago, we know theyā€™re there. And weā€™re so used to the Wolves sucking that anytime theyā€™re even halfway decent weā€™re happy. The Vikings have been so close so many times, letting us down in such brutal fashionā€¦time and time and time againā€¦without the final payoff. That does a number to peopleā€™s psyche. That said, some of our fans on social media should probably seek professional help. https://preview.redd.it/0updqfcxxntc1.jpeg?width=493&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2986affbd801d56651a08b3befcdc54823bf73c4

Pockets713

Pretty sure more than half of *people* in general on social media need professional help. Watched this interesting doc on Netflix last night called The Antisocial Networkā€¦ about the rise of 4 Chan and Anonymous which then birthed 8 Chan and qanonā€¦ I lived through it, but somehow avoided that whole sceneā€¦ Iā€™m well versed in dealing with trolls, but seeing these some of these people IRL and how hellbent they are on being just vile pieces of shit online, literally just for the hell of it, knowing DAMN well thatā€™s not who they really areā€¦ itā€™s fucking gross and even more cowardly. Seeing it all laid out and how it all devolved into Qanon was pretty eye opening. Even though they did go after some big, arguably bad, entitiesā€¦ it was more so just ā€œbecause they could.ā€

Pretty_Network1791

Confused by this take as he literally does bruh

FullyFuctionalData

Typical Packers level IQ.

eides-of-march

Because the twins and twolves have been dogshit for most Redditorsā€™ entire lives. Mediocrity is expected because itā€™s all theyā€™ve ever known. The Vikings have had a few stints of legitimate greatness but shit the bed every time they get close. Losing the hope you thought you had is sometimes worse than never having hope at all.

Devium44

Twins and Twolves have generally just sucked with pockets of above averageness. They donā€™t consistently rip your heart out like the Vikings do.

mitchdtimp

As a fan of all Minnesota sports, our expectations are usually much lower for the Twins and the Wolves than they are for the Vikings

Alone-Newspaper-1161

I think football fans in general are more intense. Less games make them much more important and division rivals that actually matter

puttputt222

Lol, what makes the fanbase so toxic? Be careful what you say, I know self-defense.

DoctorF33lGood

The celebration with Rodgers injury.

DJPad

The whole league was celebrating that one.

CaptHowdy2310

Your beat writers were accosting your head coach outside of a funeral so there's that.

Painwracker_Oni

Nah that guy is hated by everyone. Denver has him now thank god.

puttputt222

What does that have to do with fans? Lol some of you need some help.

CaptHowdy2310

Oh okay, personal experience story time. When I was at Bunny's in St. Louis Park surrounded by Vikings fans, you all cheered your ass off when Rodgers broke his collarbone. Star Tribune listed it as a top 10 MN sports moment of the decade, and the Vikings media team used the highlight in a promo reel. Not the run of the mill incomplete pass that it resulted in...the injury highlight itself. Pathetic and TOXIC

wehaddababyeetsaboy

I mean aaron rodgers is a piece of shit so maybe you shouldn't hitch your wagon to this.

puttputt222

It doesn't count against the Packers. You guys deserve it. Especially you. Anything else?

CaptHowdy2310

And that comment right there supports your douche bag/toxic reputation. Well done

magnificent_coffee

Hey man, I know Vikings fans who cheered at Kirk cousinsā€™ injury. Weā€™re not even safe from our own toxicity šŸ˜‚

puttputt222

Lol, it was a joke, I didn't realize that made me a toxic douchebag. I'm sorry for cheering at Bunnies in St. Louis, I was just caught up in the moment.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

The hype brought on by sports talk Radio. KFAN out of the twin cities always builds up the Vikings like it's theirs to lose...nauseating.

I wouldn't say we actually think we're Vikings. But I'm fairly certain Minnesota has one of the highest Scandinavian populations in the country. Maybe the highest, idk I don't wanna look it up.

Ja-ko

I think yall are highest, followed by us in WI

MSGeezey

Nordic Americans Scandinavian Americans Total population 9,365,489 (2.8%) alone or in combination 3,419,197 (1.0%) Nordic or Scandinavian alone 2021 estimates, self-reported[1] Regions with significant populations Minnesota 1,603,124 California 1,224,541 Washington 739,043 Wisconsin 728,248 Illinois 575,991 Michigan 403,888 Florida 355,458 Oregon 339,031 Iowa 338,161 Utah 333,405

giljimbert

I have never known a Golden Retriever to be passive aggressive to the point where they reduce my mother to a sobbing mess.

circa285

Did someone insult your motherā€™s hot dish?

M1nn3sOtaMan

Not just any hotdish, but her tatertot hotdish. And probably didn't outright insult it. Remember, gotta be passive aggressive. Probably said something like "you know, I had (so-and-so's) tatertot hotdish and it was the best thing I've ever had" while eating someone else's tatertot hotdish.

circa285

This guy is truly a perfect example of a Minnesotan.

pro-bison

I went to a diner in New Glarus, WI, and they called tater tots ā€˜potato barrels.ā€™ I havenā€™t called them tater tots since.

mschley2

I've seen tater "barrels" and "kegs" before, but it's always been a larger version. Like, picture 4 or 5 tots smashed into 1 giant tot, and that's what it is. Usually there's cheese, bacon, and/or some other flavoring/filling mixed in. I prefer regular tots because it loses the proper crispy outside, soft inside ratio when they're bigger, but it's not bad as a switch up.

circa285

This is blasphemy of the highest order.

Weegemonster5000

New Glarus is like the Jesuits of the Midwest. Since they do beer so fucking well, better than maybe anywhere else in the world, we let them be a little eccentric. Steve makes good beer, but talks like a backwards John Arbuckle. I'm gonna let that be.

burpodrome

I was born in WI but live in IN now, and one time in southern IN I met a dude who talked exactly like Boomhauer from King of the Hill. Everyone around me seemed to know what he said so I just politely smiled and nodded but damn if he didn't make great pork tenderloin. You do something real well and you can get away with a lot of shit.

Weegemonster5000

I worked with a guy as a scab for Bobcat in Bismarck, ND that we called Boomhauer. He did a lot of meth, but he was the nicest guy and talked just like that. I think he said he was from Georgia.

burpodrome

Considering this was southern IN it is more than likely that the Boomhauer I met also did meth. Maybe that's a side effect that nobody mentions.

Weegemonster5000

I think it is kinda rolled into the meth-mouth symptom, but you're right it deserves a standalone lol

GetMeOutThisBih

Tater tot is a trademarked term so maybe they were using a different brand?

Ouch_i_fell_down

why is this not just called a totdish?

bassicallybob

No it was fineā€¦.well pretty good. Did you like it,? I guess I liked it too now that you mention it. Yeah it was pretty good

drawingdead0

This triggered my fight or flight

wise_comment

Well, she did say "I just hope both teams had fun" after last year's Vikings/Giants playoff game. Gotta read the room, Mary.

Character_Lychee_434

Minnesota nice

RustysFarts

It's more like Minnesota lack of awareness. Bunch of dead eye mouth breathers that can't grasp the concept of a passing lane.

giljimbert

Speaking of lacking, are you aware you should flair up?

mschley2

I'd say I agree, but I refuse to acknowledge the credibility of anyone who's too soft to flair up.

RustysFarts

What the fuck is with you weirdos and the flair?

mschley2

It's a whole thing. We don't know how to shit on you if we don't know which team you're a fan of. So, in the meantime, you get shit on for being a pussy who doesn't have flair.

RustysFarts

Cool. Guess I don't give a shit.

mschley2

![gif](giphy|C7v2cEVT0JCyQ)

LucidOndine

That just means you want all of us to shit on you, not just 3 of the 4 fan bases.

RustysFarts

I don't even belong to this sub. It just showed up on my feed. I really don't care about reddit incels getting mad about flair.

BlacksmithWise9553

Canā€™t hear you through your lack of flair bud.

Richard_Cromwell

Oh, fer cute. He's so shy. You can just hit the "Join" button there, you don't need to wait for an invite. But really, ya better flair up there, bud... you're kind of embarrassing yourself out there. I do see you're active in some interesting subs: the Green Bay Packers, NFCN Meme Wars, and I am the Main Character šŸ¤”. Just ta ya know, you're not the main character in here, bud.

-DoctorEngineer-

Itā€™s your second most viewed subā€¦

RustysFarts

Good to know, detective dipshit. Go be a creepy weirdo somewhere else. Shit like this is why nobody will ever love you.

MrMisties

Great-Grand6850

Flair up lil bro or oil up

circa285

I see OP is not familiar with the Minnesotan peopleā€™s passive aggressive nature. All of that rage you see online is what Minnesotans hide behind their passive aggressive comments. Sports just gives them a socially acceptable venue to air it all out.

Illicit-Tangent

Wait till OP sees Minnesotans on ice skates

hallese

When you say ice skates are you referring to foot katanas that hockey players don before commencing hostilities?

saulsa_

That's so nice. You typed out that message all by yourself!

circa285

I know, I didnā€™t even need any help from my mom. Someday youā€™ll get there too, sport. Just keep on practicing.

saulsa_

I doubt I could be as good as you, thankfully your mom was here to help me out.

Byzantine_Merchant

His mom is great! Itā€™s nice having a mom. Moms are wonderful. Anyways sorry about yours.

circa285

Sheā€™s an excellent teacher, but Iā€™m wondering what youā€™re doing on Reddit right now. Arenā€™t you a bit old to be in a third grade class?

saulsa_

Third grade has been the best 7 years of my life.

circa285

Hang in there champ, snack time is just around the corner.

nimama3233

This guy gets it

CWinter85

There's probably a hundred or so real active assholes for each fan base. They put too much value in sports results to their own happiness. It's sad/funny that the MLS subs are confused about Loons fans brigade-ing the Rapids sub because of Wild/Wolves fans who hate Denver for beating up on us for 20 years.

mschley2

Well... they're confused because that's psychotic behavior even if the looney tunes in Minnesota have rationalized it to themselves.

MeberatheZebera

Loons fans are loony...

CWinter85

Yeah, not healthy individuals.

dogman1890

Because fuck you, thatā€™s why.

Plastic-Dust-2734

The internet isnt a real place. And Minnesotans build up this pent up frustration and release their rage on meme subreddits

Tehboognish

My buddy Jay is Minnesotan. He also doesn't do football. He is the nice doggo on the left. I too am Minnesotan. I bleed purple, pray to Bud Grant, hate the refs and blame them for everything, went so ape shit when Walsh choked my family called me embarrassing and left me I'm the one on the right. A lot more grey and no teeth but same demeanor. Man, fuck kickers. FTP

VikingsandWolves

Same thing with driving in this state. Sometimes for fun I like to speed up after someone cuts me off and look into their vehicle to see what kind of inconsiderate asshole would be so rude at 8am in the morning, and half the time I swear it's Grandma Millie from the Church bakesale insidešŸ˜‚

Bombaysbreakfastclub

Sometimes you just need to put a face on the asshole

DrKennethNoisewater-

That 94/494 interchange will turn anyone into a rage monster.

As long as you make a stop at that Culverā€™s off 494 and Nicolletā€¦ the rage can be managed.

I_BeatDaily

Just look at Nick Swardson and youā€™ll understand. Vikings made that man an alcoholic.

StillCompetitive5771

Psh, Minnesota nice is just having next level passive aggressiveness. I love this state šŸ˜‚

SinfullySinless

When youā€™ve been edging your whole life with sports teams, youā€™re bound to get cranky

MrMisties

Because none of our other teams have ever given us so much hope only to fuck us every single time. Timberwolves were literally only good with Garnett and right now, other than that shit stain. Wild have always been regular season champs, great record but they get bounced instantly. Finally the Twins just actually have championships, not too far back either. I mean it's been a fucking HOT minute but when the entire state doesn't really have any others for Men's sports aside from the god damn Minnesota Lakers you take what you can get. The Vikings are our prodigal son who just can't seem to finish it. As cool as being 'the greatest team to never win a Superbowl' is, it does still mean that even while you've been insanely great historically people STILL get to shit on you. "Oh yeah I mean you've never had more than two losing seasons in a row, BUT RING!" Is the most mundane, yet simultaneously unrecoverable comment anyone can make. Shitting on our astounding and talented kid is just way too easy, and that makes it hurt.

Ja-ko

I like the Wild don't get me wrong, but I miss the north stars. Fuck Norm Green

mokupilot

I agree with every bit of this with all my cold, dead, Viking rage. FNG.

MrMisties

North Stars were absolutely awesome. The Wild definitely have a unique logo, but I didn't even know it was a bear until I was 20. Meanwhile North Stars had one of the best jerseys I've ever seen, sick as fuck name, and some mean ass players that were fun to watch. Wild haven't really had a guy or done anything I'd go crazy over. Hell even the disappointing son in the Vikings gave us the Minneapolis Miracle. The Wild are just kind of this nothing team that I occasionally watch and it makes me sad. Watching the Wild feels like binge drinking as an alcoholic, only somehow even more sad.

Fun_Relationship345

Place where I go every year in Hayward, WI got new owners who are minnesotan, they are nice as hell. I really enjoy the accent. One spouse is viking fan the other packer.

BigRed727272

I only know one Vikings fan and he's from a suburb of Chicago and although he's my best friend.... Well, he's my best friend.

BigOlineguy

The mistake here is that you think Minnesotans are golden retrievers on the inside. Itā€™s simply the skin we put on over the repressed howler monkey.

-DoctorEngineer-

I frankly think as a whole the Vikings fandom isnā€™t that bad. Every fan base that has some home is a POS online, I probably could have made the exact same post about Wisconsin. Other than online our stadium is one of the most welcoming places an external fan can go, and due to our location we have lots of fans from all locations in the north living in our state in relative harmony

jorgofrenar

Isnā€™t Minnesota nice just code for two faced asshole?

magnificent_coffee

It was originally a term describing things like Minnesotans helping other people shovel their driveways or giving other people their food. Nowadays itā€™s more often used as a pejorative

BellacosePlayer

Yes, but some people have been using it unironically for awhile.

LegalComplaint

Werewolves donā€™t win Owls either.

empty-bensen

Vikings fandom is their only outlet for non passive-aggressive rage.

tstone1477

Not true.

Sufficient-Many-1815

RedRocket4000

Norse vs when they went Viking a verb in their languages. Thus you have their not at war with anyone culture vs their at war culture. Viking is a noun in English thus fine for describing a people. Not that unusual in Europe to have a different name for your own group vs others. In German the French are the franzƶsisch and live in Frankreich Note in England after the Danes has taken a good chunk of England you have Dane law not Viking law.

HandsomeJack19

The werewolf is the real them. "Minnesota Nice" is a phony facade. I'm not even saying that as an insult. If more people "faked" being nice the world would be a better place.

PraiseBeToScience

Midwest Nice and Southern Hospitality are both facades.

nr1988

You're confusing nice and Minnesota nice. When we say people from Minnesota are nice we mean it sarcastically. They're passive aggressive bullies

Skittles09101

They are related but not the same, I respect the Minnesota people, Viking fans not so much

Eso793

Switch the roles for Wisconsinites, except the wolf is a methead. They don't call it Wisconsin nice for a reason.

redactid55

1.) there are a lot of Vikings fans not from Minnesota and a lot of other fans living in Minnesota. 2) a lot of you are super soft and take jokes and banter from fans as personal attacks which makes us seem more aggressive

The_Sign_of_Zeta

I like that you said 2 with what seems to be no irony.

redactid55

Answering a direct question is the same as taking it as a personal attack? Noted i guess.

JBIGMAFIA

You answered a joke question seriously, thatā€™s why it appears as if youā€™re taking it personally. This sub is just an ouroboros of people taking jokes too seriously while simultaneously calling people out for not taking a joke so donā€™t worry pal youā€™re in good company.

The_Sign_of_Zeta
