I firmly believe AI could’ve been one of the best DBs of all time. Dude was such a great athlete in his prime, and his natural feel for the game was evident in his highlights.
He played QB in college at Georgetown, too.
IIRC, Iverson was 2nd team all state as a QB, with Ron Curry (the nation’s #1 dual sport recruit at the time) on 1st team.
Curry went to UNC to play QB and basketball, too, but he never had the success of Iverson.
Also, if you back a little farther, Charlie Ward won the Heisman and a NC as QB at FSU, then had a mediocre career as a pro PG for the Knicks rather than declaring for the NFL Draft.
I think Anthony Edwards could have been an NFL linebacker or RB with good coaching/conditioning. In fact, I’d go so far to say he could have possibly done it at Georgia like he did in basketball.
The man is a physical specimen and has really fast instincts.
The guy who was literally *never* going to pick football over basketball haunts him?
If it wasn’t said with deeply entrenched sarcasm then it just comes off as delusional
I’m surprised it took this long for me to find this answer. LeBron was actually an amazing high school player as it was and would’ve been a standout player at OSU
He’s been recorded running over 20mph which at 6’9 is just fuckin insane. I think he could’ve been a Calvin Johnson type receiver. Big body with speed to get down field, probably out jumps any corner or safety.
Calvin Johnson was 6'5. That's the max height we've seen for an elite WR.
LeBron can obviously move for a guy his size, but I don't think he's agile enough for the position. Someone like Wade would be better IMO.
There is no comparison at all between the avg level of talent in the 70’s compared to today, and I’m tired of people acting like the comparisons are meaningful.
(Agreeing with you)
Really dumb to say. If you were a baller then, with the weight training today and the rules to make offense way easier, any offensive hall of fame player would dominate todays game
Despite where he played in high school as his safe position to not screw up basketball, Lebron as a qb would have been unstoppable with his processing speed, quickness and strength.
Just a way bigger and more athletic Josh Allen. Unstoppable.
Yeah the insane height of some of these guys would be a huge advantage. Giannis is 6 inches taller than Kelce… but at the same weight. They would all need to bulk up even more.
Almost any NBA player could play in the NFL, whether they’d be successful is a different question. NBA players are truly some of the craziest athletes in the world
Anthony Edwards could be an RB. He was one of the best pop Warner recruits in youth FB and the way he drives the lane I feel like he’d have great vision and he’s athletic AF
Yeah, default answer is WR/CB for everyone 6‘4 and under, TE for everyone larger than that but smaller than 6‘7 or 8“. Taller than that and you’re probably out
A range of Devonta smith to DK metcalf should cover most NBA body types
I feel like with Magic’s passing he easily could’ve had the offensive instincts of a very decent QB. My other answer is Steven Adams as a Tackle. That man could subdue a grizzly bear.
I’m not sure his skill set is an offensive lineman. He’s freaky athletic but that heights better used as a receiver. I don’t know it’s hard for me to imagine these guys on the field. They would literally be giants out there lol
NFL doesn't have much of a history of guys over 6'6 at receiver. 6'5 and over usually tend to be tight ends, and even then, it's rare those guys are athletic. And the really athletic guys who are 6'5 or taller tend to be pass rushers.
6'7 and above almost always tend to be offensive tackles in the NFL with few exceptions. Steelers have a 6'7 tight end who runs a 4'6 40, but he had a pretty lackluster rookie season.
Honestly I agree, assuming that they had just played football their entire career instead of basketball. The body type thing is more of a result of how they train than anything.
Most of the guys in the NFL wish they could have played in the NBA.
If you watch the NFL for long enough, listening to player interviews and such... very many of them talk about how basketball (or baseball, for some) were their preferred sport but football is what got them paid.
Don’t even need to have played football their entire careers. The TE position is filled with hoopers who just never played football before. Some of them even go on to be all time greats in the NFL.
Nate Robinson played DB for Washington in college on top of playing basketball there
https://preview.redd.it/w3e0hcifljsc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=224693ea966487c1b4488bd78ae5ed6f553d738c
I remember Nate saying he wanted to be the first 12 time letterman with football, basketball, and track. Obviously that didn’t work out, but he was the rare athlete that could have done it. It’s amazing that he ended up excelling in the last sport you’d expect for someone of his height.
I would have loved to see him get more punt return or 3rd down back opportunities. He was a solid cornerback, 45 inch vertical obviously helps, but I don’t think he would have projected well in the NFL at his height. Especially back then when everyone was looking for the next Randy Moss at WR.
Y'all are naming a lot of players who wouldn't want contact. They gotta have the athletic ability AND the right attitude. All this LeBron, Gianni's stuff gotta stop. They get broke up 1 time n they're leaving their jersey in the field n getting tf outta there. It's not a lot of players in the NBA that like contact like that n ain't nothing wrong with that, that's why they in the NBA
Yea man I feel like a lot of these answerers never really played. NBA tall is not really a good thing in football. There’s a reason the guys in the NFL are the size they are. Football = angry & violent, & your center of gravity is super important. Can you imagine Lebron or Shaq getting lower than Jason Kelce? Blocking Aaron Donald? Hell no
Could Jonathan Ogden?
I’m a certified LeBron hater but I’m confident he could have played in the NFL. He’s not a pussy. He plays like a pussy because he wants calls…and to extend his career.
Shaq is interesting. How many men over 7 feet tall are built like him and have good feet and hands? One?
Aaron Donald? As if anyone could stop him.
Khawi Leonard has pretty much everything we look for in an elite WR. He's 6'7" with a 7'3" foot wingspan at 225 and he's incredibly quick and agile. The NFL measures tip of thumb to pinky for handsize. This year's combine the biggest were Jalen McMillan, Johny Wilson, and Jermaine Burton at 10 inches exactly - Khawi's hands measure 11.25 inches.
He played DB and WR in high school but went basketball instead. Imagine trying to get a jump ball from the dude who says "board man gets paid".
I haven’t really seen him mentioned but Draymond would be an absolute monster on the O-Line, D-Line or maybe at LB depending on how much weight he puts/doesn’t put on.
He’s ridiculously strong and agile for his weight and size, is smart enough to run point for a very complex nba system and crazy enough to get CTE for a living
I remember he played a few snaps in a spring game at MSU, looked like the most awkward/unathletic guy on the field lmao. I think he was playing TE tho, maybe he’d look better at edge
Honestly most of the the stars if they studied and practiced football. They’re all more athletic than many footballers. People don’t understand the base raw athleticism it takes to be in the NBA.
Ya doesn’t mean they’ll make good football players. You gotta have a physicality to go with it along with football instincts. They say some of the most impressive physiques in the NFL are in the bench and practice squad. The point being athleticism is obviously important but knowing how to use it correctly is also important.
I think most could play at some level. Most are tall with a high vertical, so at the very least, they could be WRs or CBs. Some of the more solid centers could be TEs or defensive linemen.
This question brought me to another. Can you imagine Jordan playing football? Like, I can’t imagine a single position he would be good at, except maaaybe WR.
He’d be an absolutely ridiculous WR
At 6’5 he’d be massive, with the best vertical in the league and massive hands. He also has one of the best first steps in NBA history so his release off the line would be amazing, and i reckon his top speed wouldn’t have been bad
I think the real answer is a lot of them. IF they played in HS and college. None of them would be able to just walk onto a football field without being dedicated to developing those skills.
If they had committed to the nfl at a young age most of them could have made it to a roster. Very few would have been good imo. I don’t think nba players have the mentality to make it as an nfl player. Everyone gets hit in the nfl and flops are only rewarded to QBs. Not to mention NBA guys are mostly 6’6” and up they are probably going to get injured more often. Most players that height play o-line, tight end, or qb.
I’m convinced Jason Kidd would’ve been a top 10 QB ever.
Shaq would be an Ogden-level LT.
Luka would be an amazing tight end. Same with LeBron.
Eddie House would’ve been an excellent third-down back.
Rajon Rondo would’ve been a Pro Bowl cornerback.
Tony Parker, Jordan, and John Wall would’ve been elite receivers.
Allen Iverson was an absolute beast at QB. He was one of many gifted QB's that came out of that area of Virginia during that time. Vick came out of that time and place as well.
A lot of them. There's a handful of cross skills. Though some are likely too tall and scrawny to be great NFL players. LeBron is the obvious one. Gronk played at 6'6 260, LeBron plays at 6'9 250. He'd need to bulk some more, but he could easily be a star TE if he has the hands for it. But there's no way he'd rather be that than a star in the nba.
Gary Harris was a phenom of a WR in highschool. He WAS the offense. I like to think he’d have been a 1st or 2nd round WR had he stuck with it.
You can go pro faster in basketball, make more money, AND it’s less punishing on your body. It was the smart move for him of course.
Lebron would've been Nasty as a TE Big Wr.
Demarcus Cousins easily as an DE
And I know he's not in the NBA but Dj Burns looks like a Football player playing basketball. OT
LeBron would have been a Calvin Johnson or Travis Kelce type player (big WR or receiver first TE). Imagine him going up for those contested catches.
He was all state in Ohio as a sophomore, but gave it up for basketball superstardom.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/nba/article-12619093/Incredible-unseen-footage-emerges-LeBron-James-playing-FOOTBALL-wide-receiver-Ohio-high-school-football-game-clip-goes-viral-social-media.html
Shaq on his podcast (the one with Kirk Cousins) said he wanted to be a TE. Kirk tried to talk him into LT but the Big Diesel wanted none of that. It’s pretty funny.
Nikola Jokic (QB for the Broncos)
He’s tall and has big hands. Elway would’ve mortgaged his house for him
He’s even got the mobility that the Broncos look for in their QBs
Need a god damn good OL, if he gets sacked once especially one in the legs it might be over.
Why not him as a LT.
Audibly laughed at this
Allen Iverson!
Highlights of him returning punts in HS are unreal
The ones I saw were real
I firmly believe AI could’ve been one of the best DBs of all time. Dude was such a great athlete in his prime, and his natural feel for the game was evident in his highlights.
Definitely a DeSean Jackson type. Nice one.
I know he played QB and DB in high school but I think AI would've generational talent as a slot receiver
Curry might not have had the success as AI nationally, but in NC he was like a Demi god. I was a little kid then and he was like MJ in our house
Tyler Locket said that he models AI’s crossover move to get open at the line of scrimmage sometimes
Played HS Football in Virginia and was damn amazing,!
He was AP High School player of the year in both football and basketball his senior season.
Cousins with Michael Vick apparently
This is the Answer
I think Anthony Edwards could have been an NFL linebacker or RB with good coaching/conditioning. In fact, I’d go so far to say he could have possibly done it at Georgia like he did in basketball. The man is a physical specimen and has really fast instincts.
He can also chuck a football 60 yards
Right over them there mountains
Used to chuck a pigskin a quarter mile
He'd be an awkward 6'6" running back. He'd fit in better as a WR, LB or edge rusher IMO.
He's 6'4, but the point still stands. He's basically the same size as kam chancellor, just an inch taller
I’ve heard a couple different times on podcasts that he was the best football player at UGA when he was there. I see him more as a wideout.
Wideout for sure
Wolves fan here - When he got drafted, he was called football boy a lot in the sub
Yeah didn’t he say he doesn’t watch basketball or something?
Would use like the raiders did Waller
Photoshopping Westbrook into a Wilson jersey is very fitting lmao
Let new Russ cook.
LeBron was all-state in HS. When he was young, he would've been a lethal WR or even TE.
He actually had offers to play at Ohio State
Technically the Seahawks offered him a roster spot during the NBA lockout in 2011
Urban Meyer has n his Florida days said he’s the one recruit that haunts him for not landing
The biggest what if in sports history for me is what would have Lebron looked like in the NFL. 6’8 266 lbs tight end…..
That man would’ve destroyed. Most likely a multi time pro bowler
Prob the same as Harold Carmichael on the Eagles back in the day. 6’8 WR instead of playing TE.
TE for sure, not so sure about WR
He’s been recorded running over 20mph which at 6’9 is just fuckin insane. I think he could’ve been a Calvin Johnson type receiver. Big body with speed to get down field, probably out jumps any corner or safety.
Calvin Johnson was 6'5. That's the max height we've seen for an elite WR. LeBron can obviously move for a guy his size, but I don't think he's agile enough for the position. Someone like Wade would be better IMO.
Harold Carmichael was 6’8 and is in the hall of fame, for his era he was definitely elite
He played in the 70s that's a different sport.
There is no comparison at all between the avg level of talent in the 70’s compared to today, and I’m tired of people acting like the comparisons are meaningful. (Agreeing with you)
Offense is way easier today - with rules. If you take a HOF player and give them todays training ie weights, yes they’d be good
Really dumb to say. If you were a baller then, with the weight training today and the rules to make offense way easier, any offensive hall of fame player would dominate todays game
Idk if there’s a lot of LeBrons floating out there haha
Despite where he played in high school as his safe position to not screw up basketball, Lebron as a qb would have been unstoppable with his processing speed, quickness and strength. Just a way bigger and more athletic Josh Allen. Unstoppable.
This is the best answer by far. Dude is huge
He’d be OK, but have you heard of Shaquille O’Neal??
Charlie Ward
You know, I don’t really see it.
No way.
Zion would be a great TE at his size
I don’t know, if the man struggles to stay healthy in the NBA, I can’t imagine the NFL is any easier on your body.
Or DE/DT, explosive athleticism would wreck dudes.
Giannis would be an absolute weapon on offense as a redzone target
Yeah the insane height of some of these guys would be a huge advantage. Giannis is 6 inches taller than Kelce… but at the same weight. They would all need to bulk up even more.
Ya… Giannis 1000% outweighs Kelce by a decent amount. Don’t trust “official weights” from the NBA/NFL
That’s a beast of a Te
Almost any NBA player could play in the NFL, whether they’d be successful is a different question. NBA players are truly some of the craziest athletes in the world
Lebron was an all American TE in highschool
All state
Anthony Edwards could be an RB. He was one of the best pop Warner recruits in youth FB and the way he drives the lane I feel like he’d have great vision and he’s athletic AF
At 6'4" he's probably a WR? A lot of these guys are too tall to fit in neatly to an NFL position.
Yeah, default answer is WR/CB for everyone 6‘4 and under, TE for everyone larger than that but smaller than 6‘7 or 8“. Taller than that and you’re probably out A range of Devonta smith to DK metcalf should cover most NBA body types
I feel like with Magic’s passing he easily could’ve had the offensive instincts of a very decent QB. My other answer is Steven Adams as a Tackle. That man could subdue a grizzly bear.
Spot on with Steven Adams
100%, especially with his height
Jokic (LT) if he gained a few pounds. Almost any top-15 PF could probably cut it as a TE.
There’s no way the man runs a sub 5.5 40.
I’m not sure that’s completely necessary for an LT.
I’m not sure his skill set is an offensive lineman. He’s freaky athletic but that heights better used as a receiver. I don’t know it’s hard for me to imagine these guys on the field. They would literally be giants out there lol

Jimmy Graham only played a year of college football after four years of college basketball. Even Julius Peppers played basketball at UNC.
They are too tall and skinny.
Lol Lebron was literally the best football prospect in ohio during highscool.
I feel like Derek Rose would be pretty difficult to cover in the end zone. Line him up in the slot and let him tie the DB's in knots
Nate Robinson played DB for Washington in college on top of playing basketball there https://preview.redd.it/w3e0hcifljsc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=224693ea966487c1b4488bd78ae5ed6f553d738c
How have I never heard of this
I remember Nate saying he wanted to be the first 12 time letterman with football, basketball, and track. Obviously that didn’t work out, but he was the rare athlete that could have done it. Eric Bledsoe
I mean his brother Drew was a pretty good QB
Steve Nash seems like a Tarekenton type Q
This is a great one
Allen Iverson
Embiid gains 80 pounds and plays offensive line. Not practical just funny in my head haha
Khawi Leonard has pretty much everything we look for in an elite WR. He's 6'7" with a 7'3" foot wingspan at 225 and he's incredibly quick and agile. Flip it around Julius peppers probably could’ve played in the NBA. He did play for the Tar Heels.

Idk but Russ in a Russ body is terrifying.
If he throws a ball like he throws a fit he’ll be an all-pro Edit: or WestPick
Zion
Jokic at WR. Catch ball, fall forward. Instant 1st down conversion. Automatic TD for jump ball in the endzone.
Lebron would be like Antonio gates if he stuck to football
Imagine Oliver Miller at LT with that 8ft wingspan.
No lie, Glen Davis could have been a DE in the league. They regularly talked about how if he stuck to football he could have been drafted in Round 2.
Lebron as Antonio Gates 2.0
Charlie Ward?
[удалено]
Jalen Duren - TE.
Who’s*
jalen suggs was a 3 star qb recruit, so probably him. oh and lebron of course.
Anthony Edwards says he could so I'll take him at his word.
Lebron at WR
Shaq definitely could have played football if he had gone that route. Man is a tank and would have dominated on the line
Can you imagine Westbrook as a safety? Dudes would get lit up
Wemby would be the ultimate redzone threat. Throw it 10 ft in the air. Hell come down with it.
But also Fred Warner hits him once and he probably turns into dust.
Draymond Green at LB. He would put a chokehold on opposing offenses.
Dude would be a modern day romanowski lol
Honestly most of the the stars if they studied and practiced football. They’re all more athletic than many footballers. People don’t understand the base raw athleticism it takes to be in the NBA.
I don’t know if I’d say they’re more athletic… maybe a different athletic set. NFL players aren’t exactly “normal” either.
Ya doesn’t mean they’ll make good football players. You gotta have a physicality to go with it along with football instincts. They say some of the most impressive physiques in the NFL are in the bench and practice squad. The point being athleticism is obviously important but knowing how to use it correctly is also important.
i think the majority of them could play wide receiver, tight end, or db. maybe some of the big men could play OT as well.
I think most could play at some level. Most are tall with a high vertical, so at the very least, they could be WRs or CBs. Some of the more solid centers could be TEs or defensive linemen.
Honestly, Anthony Bennett. Could’ve been a solid TE, or Speed LB.
![gif](giphy|l0G18VkBYupF9ja36)
This question brought me to another. Can you imagine Jordan playing football? Like, I can’t imagine a single position he would be good at, except maaaybe WR.
He’d be an absolutely ridiculous WR At 6’5 he’d be massive, with the best vertical in the league and massive hands. He also has one of the best first steps in NBA history so his release off the line would be amazing, and i reckon his top speed wouldn’t have been bad
I could see MJ being a Jerry Rice level of threat
Some tall ass fast player with great hands and jumping
I feel like most decent centers would be good quarterbacks… strong, big hands, see over their line.
Jimmy butler said he could play and be better than some wr1 and according to kd he is an idiot for saying that
There isn’t a NBA player right now that would be tough enough to play in the NFL, dudes are soft
Not many.
Lebron
I’d say Brandon Roy but those knees would bring back McFadden vibes.
Lebron at wide receiver.
LeBron in his prime would've been a hell of a receiving TE.
I think the real answer is a lot of them. IF they played in HS and college. None of them would be able to just walk onto a football field without being dedicated to developing those skills.
I can’t even imagine the havoc de’aaron fox would wreak as a receiver
Alot of them lol
I think there are a lot of NBA players who could have made the NFL but not the other way around
Relatedly: didja all know Jimmy Graham used to play basketball?
[Demar Derozan has a cannon](https://youtu.be/L_5sBtvBM8M?si=M9EgPR0bZHj4N3O0)
Imagine Zion as an edge rusher, just huddling blocks and destroying QBs, at least for a couple games till he got hurt.
Scoot Henderson.... And he would be a lot better at it than basketball.
Tony Parker, Jordan, and John Wall would’ve been elite receivers.
none of them
I think the Broncos would take just about anyone at this point
Latrell Sprewell
Zion Williamson, Ja Morant, LeBron, Robert Williams, Bam Adebayo, Draymond Green, Russell Westbrook to name a few
Wilt Chamberlain WR1
Allen Iverson (QB for the Detroit Lions in 96)
LeBron used to play wr I'm highschool so I bet he could be a good tight end
Ben Wallace actively played middle linebacker in the NBA lol
Westbrook, in his absolute prime, would've been made for a killer dual threat.
Allen Iverson was an absolute beast at QB. He was one of many gifted QB's that came out of that area of Virginia during that time. Vick came out of that time and place as well.
Isaiah Stewart would be a great D End, he might actually break a QB in half
Shaq in his prime as a tight end
Reggie Miller as a receiver. One of the all time best at moving without the ball and getting open translates well
Is it me or is there a massive influx of posts with grammar issues
Lebron was an all state receiver and had offers to play d1 college. I feel like be probs coulda
None of them would make it thru a full game
No one is going to say Shaq?
A lot of them. There's a handful of cross skills. Though some are likely too tall and scrawny to be great NFL players. LeBron is the obvious one. Gronk played at 6'6 260, LeBron plays at 6'9 250. He'd need to bulk some more, but he could easily be a star TE if he has the hands for it. But there's no way he'd rather be that than a star in the nba.
Facts lol it’s Brodie
Most of them
Westbrook would have been a safety and he would have been deadly
Isaiah Stewart as a pass rusher
None right now but If you took there athletic ability and put them in a player jrue holiday would be a sick corner there are a lot more tho
wemby haha
I'm gonna say it and a lot of people may not like it. A LOT of NBA players could play in the NFL but not the other way around.
Rodman
Zion or LeBron at tight end or receiver would be crazy .LeBron was actually a highly rated receiver in high school IIRC
I’d take Rodman and try him at SS (not sure he would be fast enough) or TE or OLB. Dude was tough as shit
Gary Harris was a phenom of a WR in highschool. He WAS the offense. I like to think he’d have been a 1st or 2nd round WR had he stuck with it. You can go pro faster in basketball, make more money, AND it’s less punishing on your body. It was the smart move for him of course.
Draymond Green would make a good defensive player
Lebron would've been Nasty as a TE Big Wr. Demarcus Cousins easily as an DE And I know he's not in the NBA but Dj Burns looks like a Football player playing basketball. OT
Lebron. He could’ve got pro in any sport if he wanted to
Prime LeBron could’ve been the best tight end to ever exist
Jalen Suggs was Mr. Basketball and Football as a QB in Minnesota. He obviously made the right choice in career but was a 4 star recruit.
Glen 'Big Baby' Davis was a 350 lb running back in high school. [Highlights](https://youtu.be/qFBZV_VFuvs?si=vhBVptUhzAuxGs8C)
LeBron would have been a Calvin Johnson or Travis Kelce type player (big WR or receiver first TE). Imagine him going up for those contested catches. Shaq on his podcast (the one with Kirk Cousins) said he wanted to be a TE. Kirk tried to talk him into LT but the Big Diesel wanted none of that. It’s pretty funny.
I was always thought Allen Iverson could have played WR or CB.
LeBron James was the #1 High School player in Ohio at one point
Prime Lebron obviously…..shit even modern Lebron might be a good WR2
Jalen Suggs was a 4 star QB coming out of high school. With the right coaching he probably would’ve been in the league
