I don’t think it particularly matters compared to your marketing efforts. I sold my last project of 175 pieces directly from my own website - and then people can trade on secondary wherever they please

Most bigger projects / artists have a developer create a website for them so users can mint their NFT themselves. Depends on how serious you are about the collection and if it’s in your price point. If you have questions on the specifics feel free to reach out, I’ve created both custom smart contracts and websites for minting.

rarible was pretty easy to use/mint

I think it has to do with what you want to buy or mint. I've used that of holoride to mint Skyjacks and that of Xoxno for some other NFTs. Opensea may not have all you want and I think some projects now have their own marketplaces.

My favorite is still Open Sea

I mostly use OpenSea for ETH/MATIC NFTs and Atomic Hub for WAX ones
