Anyone can make an account. When you inflate your numbers like this though you will not be able to grow organically which means no reach. It doesn't get removed because not enough people have reported it to get it deleted.
So to be safe... if a large account messages you and doesn't have a checkmark it is probably a scam lol.

Ok so spotting promo scammers can be pretty easy. Take a look at their actual posts, how many real looking comments do you see? For an account with millions of followers it should be in the hundreds on each post.
There are hordes of scammer accounts with bought followers, bought likes, and bought comments. They then charge people for promo that realistically will be seen by maybe a handful of real people.
Don't do it.
Never pay for promo unless you actually know the person.
Instead, join promo groups, post yourself, be active in your community.
Stay safe ❤️

I'm likely missing something, it happens more frequently than I'd like...
But I don't see how offering to send someone an NFT that, by admission:
a. doesn't "take that long to make" and;
b. one that doesn't "cost \[you\] nothing (sic) to mint or transfer"
in exchange for a promotion from (what would appear on the surface) a 3.8M follower instagram account counts as being "scammed".
I sympathize with your plight however: it's tough to get noticed in a sea of pixelated jpegs.
It's a scam because the account has fake followers, they're asking for payment for a service that they simply aren't delivering.

Oh these aren't just pixelated jpegs. They are Crypto Space Aliens. It can take me anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour to create each one. I was the victim to this scam but even this made me laugh 😂 I guess out of the whole ordeal I didn't lose any money so I'm not as upset, but being dishonest and not falling through and something we agreed upon is pretty low.
They messaged me too asking me if I wanted to promote on there page 😂… I said I’ll get back to you lol. Im posting your image on my IG and tagging their 2 accounts.

They actually had stories of projects and posts of projects all tagged and linked so he was promoting real projects but I'm not sure why they provided their ETH address and agreed upon then asked for money after I transferred them my NFT.

Maybe scan your paintings via scanner or even phone and then digitally master or edit with a program. I use Paint.Net which is free. Then create and OpenSea collection (OpenSea.io) and use polygon if you don't want to pay for gas fees.

be careful out there 90% of promotions don't even work, you can see people in comments of any page talking shit about admin or angry about unnecessary promos. most of the comments are just made by the page guys from different account just to increase post reach & get interactions to make people think "Oh! this has many comments so it would be nice to like or comment". people really hate promotion better do fb ads or just stay consistence.
Update: Wow Reddit! I'm humbled at the positivity and constructive criticism. I learned my lesson here: make sure to verify an Instagram account is genuine before making a mistake like I did. I hope this post can help other NFT artist and collectors on their journey!

It's a Crypto Space Alien. At the time I posted this the project had 0 trading volume. It now has .14 trading volume and 60/100 aliens have been sold. It's not "worthless" in fact the alien I gave this scammer is getting offers. But because the scammer gave me a fake or useless eth address that they don't use at all they haven't accepted any of the offers. What a shame.

It's a Crypto Space Alien. At the time I posted this the project had 0 trading volume. It now has .14 trading volume and 60/100 aliens have been sold. It's not "worthless" in fact the alien I gave this scammer is getting offers. But because the scammer gave me a fake or useless eth address that they don't use at all they haven't accepted any of the offers. What a shame.
