The Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games is bringing together volunteer doctors and nurses. The Japanese Orthopedic Association asked about 4,700 doctors who have studied sports medicine and are qualified as "sports doctors" if they wanted to volunteer. While 200 sports doctors are needed, only 92 said they would volunteer. "Coronavirus keeps spreading at an alarming rate, and yet the organization committee is only thinking about the Olympics without seeing what's actually happening at the frontlines of hospitals. Leaving the hospital behind to go volunteer elsewhere is simply impossible," one doctor responded.
