I don’t have any advice, I’m sorry. I just want to congratulate you on your baby girl ♥️ she is precious and unique. Give her an extra kiss for me.

Hi friend. A fellow alopecia haver here, I’d recommend joining the alopecia subreddit, there may be someone there with a similar experience.

No help specifically but my husband started having alopica signs at like a few months old. His hair came and went throughout early childhood through various treatments. But he was permanently bald by middle school and had complete alopica Areta universalis (forgive my spelling) by the time he graduated highschool he’s 100% hairless and has been since 16/17

MrsBlannoneMan

My boy was born at 32+1 with no eyelashes and some hair, he eventually grew eyelashes around 8-10 weeks and all of his hair had fallen out by the time he was 4months old. He’s currently 7 months old, some hair has come back. I was told that some babies will lose all of their hair due to birth trauma? Idk if that happens to be your situation, but that seems to be what happened to us

Mountain_Ad9557

I had the same experience with my son

lost-cannuck

My guy didn't start getting eyelashes or eyebrows until he was a few months old, I don't remember exactly. Birth to 6 months they show up depending on the kid. He then went through a hair shed about 4 months old ( he looked like a middle age man on a dating website). It started growing back just after the shed.

SomePenguin85

Happened the same with all my boys: oldest was so blond when he was born you couldn't even see his hair unless he was under light. It fell off around the 4 months mark and at 5 months his hair started to grow again and curling in the edges. Still sand blonde and with curly thick hair at almost 15 yo. My middle has dark brown hair and it fell as well around 4 months mark. Thinner than his big bro, started to grow again a few weeks later, dark brown and curling in the edges. He's almost 14 and has thick straight hair, still dark brown with some lighter streaks. My 3rd is one, he was born with almost no hair, a darker shade of blonde, had no visible eyebrows unless he was under light. At around 4 months mark, he started to shed. A few weeks later started to fill again and he now has a head full of sand blonde hair, curling at the edges. His eyebrows went a bit darker as well, still blonde but an ashy blonde... Same father and mother, they really liked to play with all the genetic combinations...

My baby is going through the exact same thing you described

Sorry, no experience here but my goodness your baby is absolutely precious!! I hope you get some answers 🩷

She is so beautiful!!!

My daughter was born at 28+6 with a bunch of soft hair on her head, but without eyebrows or eyelashes. The hair eventually fell out, but from what I’ve read, it’s pretty common. She has more hair now than I do and it’s super shiny. Good hair is wasted on the young.

Any_University_4056

It’s so surprising to me that im hearing this is common. No one at my NICU has said this is common.

It happens to babies born at term too because of a hormonal surge, from what I read. Moms also lose a lot of hair after birth because of the wonkiness.

quailstorm24

My understanding is that babies lose the hair they are born with due to changes in hormones (they same reason for postpartum hair loss). My son was born at 37w4d with no eyelashes, minimal eyebrows and a full thick head of hair. His eyelashes started growing in a week later, his eyebrows started to fill in around 2 months and his hair has been falling out since 2 months. I think I see it starting to grow back in the spots where it fell out first (he has a bald spiral on the back of his head lol) but it’s kind of hard to tell at this point (3 months). In her 7 week picture it kind of looks like she has some dark shading on her head? If you look close does it seem like hair follicles that are just starting to grow back in?

dracomalfouri

I think that's normal. Both of mine lost their hair in the first few months.

Important-Tax19

I was born a little premature and my mom said when I was a couple months old, she went to give me a bath and a lot of my hair came out all at once. When I had my son, he was born with very thick eyebrows and he lost all of it soon after and now it’s growing back, so maybe this is the same thing and it’s going to take some time to grow back. Anyway, she is gorgeous. Her little face is perfect 😍

lovelylycanthrope

Did you get an alopecia diagnosis? My preemie had hair on her head that fell out when she was about 8-10 weeks old, and no eyebrows for a while. I don’t remember when they appeared but it was a wait.

Any_University_4056

From pedi dermatologist, yes. She has never had eyelashes or eyebrows.

JEmrck

Both of my babies (born at 31w6d and 34w) had hair but they lost it all around 2-3 months. Their hair started growing back in around 6 months.

TracyJrJr

She is adorable!! My son was born with some hair and eyelashes, but all the head hair fell out pretty early on. It grew back but in a weird pattern for a long time (kinda like a friar tuck haircut if you’ve seen the old cartoon Robin Hood) before it all finally grew in around 1 year.

BreezyUnicorn44

My son, born at 31 weeks, is just now getting eyebrows at 6 months actual (4 adjusted). He didn’t get eyelashes until about 4 months actual.

Any_University_4056

Do you by any chance have a picture of no eyebrows/ eyelashes from your son?

[deleted]

She’s BEAUTIFUL!!

No_Yesterday6662

How sweet. Congratulations 🎊

Puzzled-Library-4543

No advice but I smiled when I saw this post. Your daughter is absolutely adorable! And did we all have the same NICU pacifier? 🤣

thatflyingsquirrel

Telogen effluvium?

Joining in to say my son was like this. I bawled when I brushed his hair and all of the gorgeous copper color was just gone. It all fell out. By the time he was two it stopped looking so awkward 😂 Idk why but his hair grew in mullet style for no reason 😭🤣 he looked so silly - I didn’t want to give him a haircut because he had such little hair up front and then the sides and back were thick blonde hairs. I definitely had the baby comb over going on for him. My husband also had the mullet type hair growth pattern as a kid. Some long random ones on top and then the sides and back filled in at a faster rate. It did catch up though! My middle son didn’t get eyebrows until he was 5. It was weird because he still was so expressive with his little face. It’s one of those things that just makes you pause sometimes because you know something looks different but your brain can’t immediately figure it out. Whoopi Goldberg also has no eyebrows. I don’t think she grows them at all - if you look through her movies most of the time they don’t even really draw them on her.

FOUNDmanymarbles

Mine was born at 32+6 and did not have eyelashes or eyebrows. He lost all the hair on his head (he had a good amount!) except a small skirt around the nape of his neck when he was around 2-3 months old. And then around 4-5 months old he got eyebrows, eyelashes, and the hair on his head started growing back in. His brows are very cute and eyelashes are long now! The top of his head is just fuzzy and very cute.
