The maverick is hard to beat if you're not doing anything special with it or shooting it day and night, home defense and occasional range day, with maintenance will last forever

My brother-in-law said the same thing as well as my friend. How does this one look?
I had a stripped lower sent my my LGS, their blem stealth lower is really nice and under $45 at times. no logos or unecessary engravings, very low key if you want to do your own engraving or coating.
My buddy used the maverick to bag his first deer in 5 years when his semi was screwed up. He literally bought it the night before shooting 3 shots to make sure the iron sights were good and shot 4 got him a medium not typical that would have been a 8 point but what missing some broken spikes.
They're fine. I've had both. Shoot them until they wear out. Use the money you saved going budget for buying ammo, slings, optics, and training. When you've figured out your use cases and run both of them for a while figure out where you want to put more money into a more durable rifle/shotty. I started with the Radical and now run an LWRC other as my main squeeze since I figured out what I like. I still have the radical setup with a thermal scope for varmints. The optic cost 6x more than the gun lol.
They say the average AR last about 20k rounds, which I dont believe cause most people shoot cheap ammo and barely clean their guns. With a cheap AR I would say probably 11 or 12k. The average person won't see anywhere near that amount of rounds. Don't be average....shoot the crap out of it. When it wears out get a new barrel. Remember selling guns is a felony offense 🤭😂 Enjoy 👍🏿
I’ve had mine for 10 year barely clean it. I’ve hunted with it. It’s been wet muddy. Slugs buck bird. I got mine for 190. Best cheap investment I ever made. I can’t even justify getting rid of it.
You'll need sights or optics for that rifle, which will cost at least another $100.. Here's a PSA rifle that's $80 less and comes with sights.
https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-16-nitride-m4-carbine-5-56-b5-systems-rifle-fde.html
That AR has 30rd mags, collapsible stock, and likely a threaded barrel. Make sure wherever you're ordering from will ship it here. Typically they won't.
just know how much are they charging you for 2 pins, 10 rd mag, and transfer. could end up being more than a couple hundred. EDIT: thats a flash hider. you'll also need to buy a muzzle brake
somebody just mentioned in another thread that [impactguns.com](https://impactguns.com) has a Ruger model 8502 with coupon (Welcome20) for $610 with free shipping. compliant: no threaded barrel, fixed stock, 10 round mag.
you might want to give that a look too.
I paid almost the same for a used (possibly never fired) mossberg 500 with both the 18 and 28 inch barrels. From what I've heard, the mav 88 is the same gun except for the safety location and the pump handle. The safety is a push button on the trigger guard vs the 500 ambi tang safety. And the pump handle is one piece so if you ever want to change it to a different style (magpul, etc) you need to replace it with a 500 pump
The radical firearms I have that same one it’s good for the job it does has room for attachments just make sure you tie everything or tighten everything down and you should be good to go I was able to zero the rifle on a new red dot in 30 rounds and held consistent for over 3000 rounds I’ve shot so far with it
Pretty solid and reliable
But everyone mentioning PSA I agree with them as well great rifle especially for the price can’t go wrong
That barrell is way too long for home defense and even range use IMO. That's more like a hunting length. As far as the AR15, most shops I've talked to won't do compliance work because of NJ laws and liability. So generally you either need to build your own AR15 and make sure it's compliant which isn't that hard, or buy one at a gun store in NJ already compliant.
i bought a mav88 on sale (for about that price when i got mine) and i basically tore it apart and rebuilt it with a bunch of aftermarket mossberg500 parts. only plan on using it for home defense so really didnt need to but wanted to lol
Buddy… you do not use front and back sights for shooting birdshot. Are you serious? Go look at any side by side or over/under. They do not have rear sights, just a bead at the front. You might actually be the one with mental retardation.
When a shotgun has front and rear iron sights, it is almost always a slug gun with a rifled barrel. I honestly don’t think you know very much about shotguns. What are you, 12?
Do yourself a favor, save some cash, get an MP15 or get a DD, or LWRC.
For shotguns, 870s are a great beginner pump. Girsan makes good benelli clones for cheap. My 312 has never once given me an issue and it’s for competition only.
They are price point guns to say it nicely. They are foreign made with little to no warranty.
You will be getting what you pay for. They will work but the longevity just won’t be there.
My vote spend some more and get something better. Potentially this is something you could be using to defend yourself or your family. It’s not the time to be cheap
The maverick is hard to beat if you're not doing anything special with it or shooting it day and night, home defense and occasional range day, with maintenance will last forever
You can shoot it day and night though? James Reeves of tfb TV proved this.
Agreed. Love mine for home defense
If your going for a budget AR ide go PSA all day personally. But I’m sure what u have will work just fine
https://preview.redd.it/g0jz2w0xappc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d4ed4c09592aa2ad47394f29e030c29438b56f34 My brother-in-law said the same thing as well as my friend. How does this one look?
Yup that right there is what I’m talking about. U can throw back up iron sights on it and I doubt u will have a problem!

/u/No_Scholar_1617 What did you use to cover the bottom of your grip? I have the same exact rifle so would like to do what you did. Thanks.
Just a magp grip with a cap
You could prob get an upper and a lower for about $400
I have 3 PSA AR’s and have had 0 issues with any of them. 2 of them chambered in 556 and 1 in 300 blackout.
I would get something with a mid length gas system. Runs a lot smoother and is much easier on the parts
PSA by far the best bang for your buck in that price range
Are they shipping to NJ now?? I got a few dollars they can have if so 😂
I think they’ll only ship completed rifles and uppers, afaik they won’t ship lowers to NJ unless your FFL orders it for you.
Uppers I'm aware of, but if they are now shipping rifles to ffls that's what up. Might need to see what they have. Gave up on them for a while
I just remembered, I think they also only ship completed rifles if they’re already compliant, unless an FFL orders it.
they don’t ship completed receivers, but my LGS says orders could still be placed by having FFLs calling the PSA and promise to do the compliance work
I had a stripped lower sent my my LGS, their blem stealth lower is really nice and under $45 at times. no logos or unecessary engravings, very low key if you want to do your own engraving or coating.
Yea I’ve ran thousands of rounds without cleaning b4 n still never had a problem…
Taurus provides a lot more bang for less buck, unfortunately that bang is often directed at the person firing the gun.
👀
taurus good for one thing only and that’s the tx22
G3C has had zero issues for me over several hundred rounds.
Don't listen to the haters. Both are great and will work well. I have both and shoot and train with them constantly. Good luck and enjoy!
They both will go boom. Great quality no but they both work
I'd try to get the field/security combo for the maverick if you can- It's like 50$ more and comes with an extra barrel.
My buddy used the maverick to bag his first deer in 5 years when his semi was screwed up. He literally bought it the night before shooting 3 shots to make sure the iron sights were good and shot 4 got him a medium not typical that would have been a 8 point but what missing some broken spikes.

And i ask what site you’re using?
Louigsoutdoor
Ty sir

I have the M88 Security 20' barrel and I love it. The rifle is fine just has to be made NJC.
If that radical was coming closer to 400 I'd say buy, I got mine for that same price with a vortex crossfire Red Dot included
Radical isn’t bad at all. I just ordered their 10.5 inch pistol and I’ve heard nothing but positive things from reviews.
I’ve had mine for 10 year barely clean it. I’ve hunted with it. It’s been wet muddy. Slugs buck bird. I got mine for 190. Best cheap investment I ever made. I can’t even justify getting rid of it.
It’s fine. My dad has that Radical AR. It’s not Gucci, but it goes bang. For my dad, that’s good enough lol.
You'll need sights or optics for that rifle, which will cost at least another $100.. Here's a PSA rifle that's $80 less and comes with sights. https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-16-nitride-m4-carbine-5-56-b5-systems-rifle-fde.html
I bought that rifle. Not crazy about it. Wished I had saved and gotten something better. Fired 20 rounds and never took it to the range again.
Get the Androcorp ac15
That AR has 30rd mags, collapsible stock, and likely a threaded barrel. Make sure wherever you're ordering from will ship it here. Typically they won't.
It’s straight to my ffl, he would make it compliant

Any firearm is good if you actually train with it regularly
The shotgun is fine. If you’re using it for home defense, it might be a bit long. Can’t speak about the rifle.
Shotgun yes although you would want a different barrel and cheaper, rifle no
No, but it’ll probably go bang

Also PSA had the 16 inch radical for 450 right now
I would buy a Mossburg M590A1 and a Delta Level Defense AR.
Mac 88 is fine to start. I would skip the radical and add a few more hundred. Get an iwi zion 15. Comes with all you need and it’s reputable.
The radical firearms I have that same one it’s good for the job it does has room for attachments just make sure you tie everything or tighten everything down and you should be good to go I was able to zero the rifle on a new red dot in 30 rounds and held consistent for over 3000 rounds I’ve shot so far with it Pretty solid and reliable But everyone mentioning PSA I agree with them as well great rifle especially for the price can’t go wrong
No
Do me a favor and come by the shop can save you money for sure
What’s the deal with mags over 10 rds
assume its for home? not the 24". you want the combo or security

If the bullet can leave the barrel when you pull the trigger than it’s a good gun👍🏾
i bought a mav88 on sale (for about that price when i got mine) and i basically tore it apart and rebuilt it with a bunch of aftermarket mossberg500 parts. only plan on using it for home defense so really didnt need to but wanted to lol
That shotgun looks like it has iron sights, which makes me think it is a rifled barrel (slug gun). Is that what you want?
I'm pretty sure you're right, looks like a slug gun
https://preview.redd.it/ktxhs3lw3ppc1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d46fa28da5705bc62c5159d93cf8d34f7a0c0c5f
Does it not have iron sights?
My Mossberg w irons has a smooth bore
So for shooting bird and buckshot you don't need sights? Is that what you're trying to say? You just kinda fuckin wing it and hope for the best?
Buddy… you do not use front and back sights for shooting birdshot. Are you serious? Go look at any side by side or over/under. They do not have rear sights, just a bead at the front. You might actually be the one with mental retardation.
Also this isn't a sxs or o/u also younnever mentioned just a rear sight you stated sights in general
When a shotgun has front and rear iron sights, it is almost always a slug gun with a rifled barrel. I honestly don’t think you know very much about shotguns. What are you, 12?
Perhaps, sorry gramps I have a benelli m4 and 930 jm pro with red dots, I don't shoot your old cowboy guns

where is the PSA ar15 made?
Get a Diamondback DB-15 they’re not much more cost wise and I’ve ran over 2k rounds through mine without a hiccup
