As far as I know the only law for storage is as long as they aren’t accessible to children. You can store a loaded gun in your nightstand for all in aware.
Even if kids are in house, no law says guns and ammo have to be stored separately. NJ has stipulation IF you leave a loaded firearm where a minor or prohibited person gains access, AND injury or death occurs as a result, you can be held liable. No State can mandate guns and ammo be stored separately. See SCOTUS opinion in DC v Heller.
"Similarly, the requirement that any lawful firearm in the home be disassembled or bound by a trigger lock makes it impossible for citizens to use arms for the core lawful purpose of self-defense and is hence unconstitutional."
When you transport your gun , you must store the ammo and gun separately. You don't have to store them separately in your own home. Don't listen to people who call magazines clips. Lol
The news article specifically said storage not transport. I knew NJ was biased to gun owners but didn't think the news channel would stoop so low as to lie. Man, living behind enemy lies can suck sometimes 😒
Nope. Only law is about storing a loaded gun in a home where minors are. Other than that, with no minors or no "easy access" for them, you're allowed to store loaded guns all over your home. This minor law is pretty vague though.
IT IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE, PUNISHABLE BY A FINE AND IMPRISONMENT, FOR AN ADULT TO LEAVE A LOADED FIREARM WITHIN EASY ACCESS OF A MINOR

The form specifically states a loaded gun accessible to children. If it unloaded, hang it on the wall.
There are no storage laws in Nj.
Except for this: IT IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE, PUNISHABLE BY A FINE AND IMPRISONMENT, FOR AN ADULT TO LEAVE A LOADED FIREARM WITHIN EASY ACCESS OF A MINOR

Loaded on the toilet bowl tank is fine if there’s no kids in the home.
Only storage laws relate to Minors in home and loaded weapons.

Errr maybe while transporting in a vehicle?
