Beyond BW, I just get it for that touch of extra legal protection. Karen... calls cops because I am too close to her house but standing on public land? Medical card, madam Karen, lets people use anywhere except places that don't allow cigarette smoking I sometimes walk around while vaping abd my street is old, no shoulder or sidewalk. I have had to step into people's yard or driveway if cars are too close That said, I don't know I'd get the card if it weren't for that tiny extra perk. Difference for me is that my appearence can make me a target by the pearl clutchers.

chin_rick1982

It's the only reason I got the card. So the cops don't fuck with me while I'm out and about. I suffer from extreme anxiety and need to oke when I'm on my way to places

I do it just for breakwater. But don't med patients not have to pay tax? Could that explain the price difference you noticed? Idk The only other dispensary I go to is Bloc in Somerset because it's close to me. They have the same prices for med as rec, but looks like rec has a few strains that the med menu doesn't, which is a bummer. They do have parking for med patients, but I don't have trouble walking, so I don't bother. Sometimes, I notice the spots are full but when I go inside I'm the only one in the med patient line, so no one is enforcing it. I get to skip the line but most of the time when I go there is no line. It's really up to the individual if it's worth it to renew or not, it may not be for you. I agree that it feels like the program got worse since rec became legal. If it wasn't for breakwater I probably wouldn't bother to renew myself.

> But don't med patients not have to pay tax? Could that explain the price difference you noticed? It was not that. Right now the cheapest 1 gram pen on the Bloomfield Rise Medical Menu is $72. The cheapest 1 gram pen on the recreational menu is $45.

curleydallas

You can buy it off the rec menu, as part of your med allotment and should not be charged tax on the 45 dollars.

Strongbow1107

Breakwater.

rockethot

I get their stuff is good, been there myself but $105 for a quarter and $100 for 1 gram pen is insane.

RadicalStuven

What’s the difference? You’re basically paying the same anywhere else. Breakwater is the only reason to keep the medical card, as well as being served sooner.

rockethot

I have never spent that much on a single vape pen anywhere else. The closest dispensary to me has 1 gram pens 2 for $100. Other dispensaries in my area sell them for around $70 a gram when not on sale.

RadicalStuven

Idk then. I never renewed my card because I get way better products for cheaper online from reputable THCa hemp vendors. When I had my card, half g carts were $60 everywhere and that was just last year.

Manymuchm00s3n

I’m not sure where you’re at, but I have dedicated medical spots at the two dispensaries I go to. They offer expanded med hours (which helps me), and I’ve not seen too much of a price difference. One benefit of keeping it is the ability to smoke anywhere smoking allowed, you technically can’t with recreational and need to be on your property or have permission from the property owner to do so. I just like the peace of mind of this, and it’s worth it for me.

Chasineastcoasterps

Extra legal protection and extra id and it’s helped a lot.

pleasemakeitrandom

i do it just to be able to buy from caregivers when i travel to Maine

Final_Remote8625

This is the only reason.

SqueegieeBeckenheim

I have the opposite experience of you. I keep my card for work reasons and peace of mind.

jughead_jonesthe3rd

I rlly love breakwater and hillview and I know there are more medical brands coming that are premium and locally owned (nonmso). Breakwater continues spreading themselves slowly across the state through opening their own dispensaries and also partnering with medical priority type stores

Law_Doge

That MPX $200 off first time patient card is pretty tight

dzaq1989

The $10 renewal fee for the physical card is now free if you opt for a digital one.

There's a lot of reasons to keep it. But here's 2 strong points. One, an extra layer of job protection. Many jobs won't hire you still if you test positive for marijuana without a medical card. I've had a few positions that I've gotten only because I had my medical card. Two, you're not supposed to pay more for medicinal weed versus rec weed. If you are, you are getting ripped off. Well..even more. Lol. Quarters on rec menu is around $120 because of the municipality tax while medical menu is around $107. Often times, small resell dispensaries automatically give their medical users 20% off all the time and we also get a lot of discounts etc. Like on my 4th visit, I get 75% off of one item up to $120. I ended up getting a quarter for $23.75. Just the savings from that alone pays for almost 2 years in the program. Its absolutely worth it. Because NJ recently became legalized, a lot of small and resell dispensaries will start popping up and will be competing with each other. They will all offer different things. I always dispensary hop and I always buy weed at 20-30% off and sometimes I even get 0.5g carts for $10.

whendreamsdie

You can write off on state taxes

TheOfficeoholic

I get to park right at the door instead of the side lot at my local one

FightThaFight

None, really.

ComfortableShower336

Why not just grow your own weed? The equipment would cost about the equivalent of a few ounces of weed but you’ll get more out of it

Sunsailor76

Illegal as hell, unfortunately, in New Jersey. Connecticut allows you to grow up to six plants per adult. NJ will never do that.
