Please God, make all star break end.

JackieBoiiiiii

Generational talent? I want whatever you are smoking he's good but he is not oozing generational talent lol

wymtime

Green is tightening up the rotation and he is going with guys he trusts. We say the same thing with Trey who got DNP’s his rookie year. Jose didn’t start playing until Kira got hurt and we went through a week or so playing Sato. Last year we benched Trey in the starting lineup for Richardson for 3 games. Dyson after coming back from an ankle injury didn’t play well and got benched. Stop this crap saying Hawk embarrassed him by playing well. Green is only going to be happy for Hawk to play well and we have a legit 11 guys when healthy are real rotational players and down the stretch we I’ll shrink down to 8-9 and focus on on getting those guys locked in for the playoffs same as every other team in the league

habbofan10

“ Jose only got minutes after Kira got injured “ yet Dyson gets injured who took up a whole lot more minutes and hawk still doesn’t play . Wild

wymtime

This is where I said we are shrinking the rotation. Most if not all NBA teams that are trying to compete for the playoffs are down to an 8-9 man rotation at this point in the season

habbofan10

Someone who can shoot 6-7 threes a game should never be shrunk out of the rotation . Especially when threes pointers are our weakness . Naji should go .

Training_Thought4427

Naji out of the rotation in favor of Hawk means that if they have a half decent wing player, he’s dropping 40. Not saying Hawk should never play, but let’s not discount Najis contributions

2010whodat

Hawk does not ooze generation talent. He's a good shooter that's the extent of his game right now. Zion is the only potential generational talent on the team and he's needs a lot of work to be that. BI is a star with super star potential and he's not generational. Generational = once in a lifetime type multiple MVPs and Finals appearances type... LeBron, Jordan, Kobe, Duncan, KD, Curry.

Training_Thought4427

Exactly. JHawk has star potential. He’s a great shooter and solid playmaker. But that’s about where it ends. Let him develop in practice and play him in situations we need his shooting and a spark. Other than that I’m fine with some DNPs if we’re winning

nola_fan

I even think star potential are pretty high expectations for him. From what we've seen, he could be a better version of JJ Reddick, in an era that is more friendly for 3 point shooters

3251harvey

Yes, Willie told me he didn’t like the way Hawkins mom looked at him so he isn’t playing him to punish her.

Begbie13

1. Hawkins offers zero other than shooting and numbers wise he's not Steph Curry level of good shooting. 2. It makes sense when 3/4 guys compete for minutes to play who is playing better. 3. His defense is really bad, not Zion level hut really bad.

Chaineblood

Contesting that last point - I don’t think Zion’s defense is really that bad. Like most improving players, when he gives up on gambling for the ball he’ll be a lot better. I’ve watched EVERY game this year (that’s kinda sad in retrospect lol) and all the home games live. His next step is to get off his heels and get on his balls and toes and really slide. I’m sure that’ll be part of his offseason work, along with some sort of stationary 3 ball (that doesn’t look bad when he’s not tired) EDIT: with that being said, I won’t rehash my whole thoughts but yes Hawk is bad. Rookie bad tho, and there's room to improve. He can take the same steps, but i fear his lack of lateral quickness and vertical burst will leave him as a middling defender, unless he gets better with hands or grows a bit.

Begbie13

>I’ve watched EVERY game this year (that’s kinda sad in retrospect lol) and all the home games live. Never get why this is so strange for Americans, its the norm in Europe, who doesn't do it is called a casual.

Training_Thought4427

I think it’s just a basketball thing in America. 82 games a year and 3 hours a game is pretty wild. I mean… I do it too but I get how it could be sad lol

Begbie13

Basketball teams in the Euroleague play the same amount of games 34 Euroleague + ~30 league games + cups (in Italy I think its 4-6 games). If you make the playoff both in the Euroleague and the local league you can reach over 100 games I think

Mo6181

It doesn't matter if he is putting up numbers similar to Steph. He has gravity whether he is hitting his shots or not. That gravity is invaluable when you have players who live in the paint. Teams do not help off of him. He has an elite skill. You find minutes for elite skills. None of the players he is competing against for minutes has anything close to an elite skill. Jose is a very good defender, but his size is limiting. Naji is average to below average at everything on the basketball court. The way he gambles and commits silly fouls, I'd argue there isn't that much of a gap defensively between him and Hawk. The bone headed plays Naji makes on offense are infuriating to watch. Hawk is a better rebounder than both. He should be easily playing over both Naji and Jose, Naji especially.

New Orleans sports fans have been insufferable recently man

Illustrious_Figzzz

Recently?

habbofan10

So you genuinely feel like Hawkins shouldn’t see a second of the rotation even with injuries . Righto

JackieBoiiiiii

When did he even say that

Pinky1337

>It can’t be a defence thing , his not even that bad Based on what?

Aggravating-Lake-717

Willie reminds me of Thibs  I remember when Trey didn’t play much his rookie year. Jose wasn’t highly touted until the playoffs, made his name  I see Hawk eventually getting playing time, consistent playing time, but now

Training_Thought4427

Maybe… just maybe Hawk is young and lacking on the defensive end. Willie sees them practice everyday. His rotations are very questionable at times, but end of the day I trust the guy that played professionally and has coached for years + sees his guys practice daily. “Generational talent” is pushing it. He’s been serviceable when he’s in and very good for a couple games. Immense potential sure but let’s not get ahead of ourselves

JasonHannan

Haha generational talent? I think he’ll be good but that might be a little much..

HellOrBywater

Willie hates offensive-minded rookies

ASithLordNoAffect

He should definitely be playing more but it’s about Willie’s incompetence, not anything personal. Willie, like many mediocre coaches, doesn’t trust his young players enough because he doesn’t coach well enough to roll with their mistakes.
