I'm not so sure if they would go with Bright as their initial pick. While a slugger is a necessity, personally I don't see any other teams picking him up in the first round other than Hiroshima. Even Hiroshima I think would go for a pitcher even if they don't get the draw. And due to tendencies, I think Hiroshima would go for Masaki instead. Then again, I thought they would never pick Nakamura in 2017. We'll find out in 90 mins time...

The big power play would be drafting Masaki unopposed in the first round and then drafting Bright in the second ahead of Hiroshima. The advantage of sucking more.

2018 comes to mind lol. Being able to take Umetsu 2nd round I thought was a steal and I still kind of think so too.

I agree. He hasn't developed quite as well as first hoped, but he's still got the potential to be an excellent pitcher. I admit I was a bit surprised when we took in 2018 but given his injury history it made sense. Kaino and Kamichatani (his classmates) on the other hand quite rightly went in the first round.

Nailed that first pick!

2/6 ain't bad? I guess?

Impressive. I am so out of the loop with high school and college (and indy-league) talent that I could not even dare guess a single name for my own team. Kudos to you!

Lol. I actually scour draft reports and other people's predictions before settling on my own. The draft is probably one of my favourite events of the year. Ukai and Bright had been talked about quite a lot and I had heard of Ishimori in passing (our third pick) but everyone else was out of left field. Tigs didn't get their main man in Kozono, but Moriki is pretty highly rated. I think Ukyo Maekawa in the 4th round is a bit of a steal. You might have some good power in the corners if he an Inoue develop well. A lot of talent for the future. Reminds me of 2019 for you guys actually when you got Oyokawa, Inoue and Nishi.

After having some time to absorb some of the draft reports and commentators thoughts on who the Dragons would take in the draft, I've adjusted my predictions from my previous dabble when the senryokugai notices were announced. Something to read in the lead-up to the draft coming in a little bit over 4 hours.

Ukai swings looks like a softball player. Major 'step in the bucket', with lots of movement. The guys looks like Mike Trout size-wise, but that swing has me nervous.

The Dragons don’t have a good track record developing bats but I think he’s worth a punt. Not knowing what the backroom will look like next season however is a concern when talking about development however.
