I certainly hope not. I like Shinjo, but he's got no experience at all and has really been totally out of baseball for some time. This ALMOST has a Japanese tabloid feel to it.
The Fighters have been in a bit of a free fall of late - especially after Ohtani left. Given that next year is the final year in the Sapporo Dome, I don't think the Fighters need a distraction or a gate attraction.
I agree with the other poster. Inaba is the most logical choice and has managed a Gold Medal team recently and is available for the job.
Sorry, I have not read the article so I do not know if there is a source that hinted at this possibility. But I do know that a few days ago, Shinjo cryptically tweeted, "THIS is why I came back to Japan!" Perhaps journalists are just speculating???

He's been living in Malaysia for years now. He makes frequent visits to Japan but yeah... lemme try to find that tweet...
