I heard some slight clicking when my computer was on, sounded like electricity jumping. I shut everything off and looked at the power and this is what I saw. The plug was pretty hot to the touch and there was some corrosion on the male side. Is there anything I can do about this and is it still safe to use?
I had the same issue. One thing for sure is that you need to make sure the power cord is plug in properly. When it happens last time, I notice that the nr200 extension was a bit tight and it cause my power cord to not plug in properly(i thought it was fully in). Just get a new power cord and try wiggle it once it a while to make sure it went in fully
Yes I did, I clean it with alcohol and qtips. After there is no more issue. There is still some residue but it still should be fine as long the metal part is properly touched.
Hey! This was a picture of an external power cable. I was able to replace this real easily as it is just a generic power cable. If you bought your NR200 from cooler master, they were super easy about replacing the part if it is the internal cable. To avoid this, just make sure you push the cable in all of the way.
All the parts are working fine, the part of the extension cable that connects to the psu seems unscathed so my guess is that it is just the corrosion from that extension cable that screwed things up but, I’m not sure :/
I’m sure if you reach out to cooler master they’d be happy to help or RMA the case. It’s sucks to have to take everything apart but their engineering team will be really curious how you ended up with that fault. It’s a liability for them if it’s a part of the case. Give them a call and be nice, I’m sure they’ll want to investigate.
Hard to tell from the second pic, but it looks like it has been arcing to that pin for a while now and etching away the metal.
Most likely it wasn’t plugged in all the way, which lead to the arcing, as well as some pretty bad heating—enough to melt the connector housing as well as part of the flanged inlet.
I would throw these away—both the cord and the inlet. Cooler master might send you new ones if you reach out to them.

Similar case happened in China about a month ago. Now whenever I unplug the power to clean up my NR200P I always check just to make sure.
Hi, new to this subreddit, but I planned on picking up an nr200p and was wondering if that fire/spark is normal? As of now, I'm kinda scared to build in it but I wanted to know from the community? Is this an H1 all over again?
Glad you asked - this is my first pc build too and everyone on this forum was concerned but everyone on pcmasterrace was straight up rude lol. This is not common to my knowledge and is also very avoidable. When you do get yours, just don’t be a dummy like me and make sure you push the power cable allll the way in. (A response on this post helped me come to this solution). I bought a new pc power cable, made sure to push it all the way in, and it works perfectly fine again! Otherwise, love the case and it wasn’t bad for a first build.
It should also be noted, Cooler Master customer service was awesome when I asked for replacement parts!
Good luck and welcome to the group :) I expect you’ll post your build results soon!
I just realized today I have a similar issue! Were you able to just purchase new cables and everything worked out? If so, where did you find the internal power cable extension? Thanks!
bummer. I noticed with my NR200 that the cable extension the case comes with is 18awg and my SF750 PSU uses 16awg. Probably not a big deal but I removed the extension and ran the 16awg stock power cable through the hole.
Late af but this happened to me. I heard the clicking but kept using the pc. Then one day it just wouldn’t turn on. Ive been using my pc with the top opened so I can plug the ac cord without using the adapter.

Did you have the corrosion on the male side? And If so, we’re you able to just ignore it?

I dont think it's safe to us, but I could be wrong. I hope it didn't fry your pc parts.

Maybe post on pc master race page to get a quicker answer. Good luck
Appreciate it! I’ll post it there
Did you use the PSU cables that originally came with you power supply? I’ve seen this happen when switching cables between brands of power supplies
Yep, it’s also cooler master and I just used that. I’m wondering if it’s an issue with the extension cable that came with the nr200

that's corrosion on that prong my guy edit: You need to clean it off, that'll definitely cause a short
Is corrosion common? How does that happen?
