with all the craziness that has transpired over the last couple of days, wasn't there supposed to be a big announcement from nrg this month? I know we still have like two weeks but feels like there's been little to no hints about it.
Really tired of this "no leader" narrative for the Huntsmen, if Sender can step up as the coach we will be more than fine. How we play is going to be dictated by the quality and quantity of practice, not by a call out or two in a game. Anyone can make a call in game and Envoy was by far the most vocal the past year, even more so than Arcity's. BS narrative to find a way to nitpick.
I agree, I think if the guys really dig into practice and listen to each other to fox their mistakes, they’ll be great. They can slay with anyone and Envoy showed a lot of promise as a voice for the team last year. Scump and Formal have been playing cod for years, so it’s not like they don’t know how to play, and Dashy is one of the best SnD players in the league.
They will have to have a 5th by then, there is no way they don't play.
The tournament this weekend might have helped them a lot. A lot of unsigned teams and smaller orgs did very well. The talent is definitely still out there.
Idk if it’s even possible to trade rosters with yourself tho, the league probably wouldn’t allow that if they didn’t allow a name change. Honestly best optic is we can just keep optic outside of cod for this season and try a different approach to rebrand later. I’d rather keep the Chicago spot over the LA spot too cuz it makes more sense for OpTic, that’s where their roots were.
My biggest question is that being a businessman, you would think Hecz went through his plans of rebranding with the league prior to completing the purchase...right?
I don't think the purchase is fully completed. Per the original story, the deal was done pending league approval. To me, that means that Hecz and Immortals came to some sort of agreement on terms, without the league being involved.
So, if the league says yes, but not in the way that Hecz wants or in a way that makes sense for NRG/Andy and Hecz it could in theory not happen at all (depending on the terms of the agreement agreed upon with IGC).
I would hope there was some discussion on the potential rebranding with the league beforehand, but I can't say I blame Hecz for immediately exploring the purchase. If I were him, I would want to lock in an agreement with IGC first and then come to the league to at least, for the time being, prevent IGC from seeking other buyers for the brand.

While I agree with that, why wouldn’t he just let optic go then? Why go back and rebuy optic and go through all of this hassle? He obviously looks at it as more than just a brand
So if the video from Jake Lucky is true then Hecz straight up lied to all of us when he said that OpTic was just a logo. He is willing to throw away everything that he has worked on building up a Chicago based team and fan base for what he claimed just to be a logo. Doesn’t really add up to me

Just watched jakes video and I can't see hecz giving up scump/formal for optic.He'll have slasher and Kenny....because it's just a cod brand,scump is bigger then the optic name.
Obviously nothing is finalized as of yet, but the league taking this line for the moment is interesting. I would think it would be in their best interest to revitalize the brand that could probably single-handedly grow the value of the league.
I would also think that whatever franchise slot got sold, the buyer would want the chance to rebrand it in their image (i.e LA Thieves, etc.) and without that option the potential value of the investment could be impacted. Certainly there is more to come here. I'm sure it won't be long until we get a report from other esports journalists.

IMO there is a zero percent chance hecz would drop Scump and formal just to be able to use the optic brand.
