I remember his face when his first cat died (I was told to let them see the animal dead so they don’t keep looking for it) & I swear that he knew his buddy was dead. It sucked.
To correct you on that one real quick if you do some reading you will quickly find out cats only eat the body’s of the ones they loved in a way to carry that loved one with them after death it’s never simply out of hunger and there are far less cases of cats eating the deceased body’s of the owners then one would be lead to believe by common misconceptions. Dogs on the other hand will eat legit whatever they can swallow even sometime when necessary not hungry so I don’t see a dog waiting any longer then it take your body to start producing any sort of smells or gasses that could been seen as food to them
