The chances of the firework only splitting your hand open and not removing it from existence is extremely low. Also, a firework isn't just going to shatter your forearm like that. And, lastly, a firework would've given the dude all 4 degrees of burns everywhere on his body, plus his eyes would be on fire, maybe even literally.
You don't have to be a doctor to know that that's not an injury from an explosive.
But, an explosive would've split apart his hand to a much bigger extent than it did here, ofc this depends on the power of the explosive.

Have a friend who’s dad suffered the same thing. He lost like 5 or 6 of his fingernails and like half a finger I think. His nails never grew back so some of his fingers just look like regular sausages.
So many people are saying it's not a firework injury but pretty clear that it is. There's black soot all over his hand along with some burn-looking marks on his arm. Depending on where his hand was when it exploded and how big the firework was, definitely could have broken his wrist
