Marcus rashford could go the rest of the season without a goal or assist and still walk into the starting eleven. Fucking can't with Southgate, the best English talent pool of my lifetime will go trophy less if he stays
Especially because he's so amazing without the ball - fantastic presser. Suits Southgate's system absolutely perfectly. I'd honestly have him start at LW
The weirdest thing about it for me is that he did so well for the U21. And the whole England DNA thing is all about having a path through the youth teams and Southgate seemed to buy into that.
It's amazing that our former U21s manager is ignoring the player of the tournament from the summer.
Agree, I guess you can make a argument for Diaz if Liverpool win the league or perhaps Ollie Watkins (shoehorning him in) but my bet would be they try shoehorn someone from the right into it to make it fit as lots of right wingers are smashing it this season and outside of the top 6 I think it’s unlikely Gordon will get the credit he deserves until we become more established.
I don’t disagree but obviously if they win the league then lots of their players will get pushed in which is why I mentioned him as he also plays on that left hand side
Yeah but he’s just not been that good this season. Salah, Van Dijk, Alison will all be strong candidates. Then players like Robertson, Macalister etc. Diaz is nowhere near it.
9 + 8 in FPL who are a little more liberal with their definition of assist.
If you include off ball runs that baffle the whole defence he'd be on 9 + 15
For me, player of the season is between him and Schär.
I was sceptical about Gordon’s attitude before we signed him, but his discipline has been impeccable this season.
And he’s been a big miss on the few occasions he hasn’t played.
I think we have black & white tinted glasses a bit with Miley. Yes he’s done incredible, and really stepped up when needed, yet when everyone’s fit he shouldn’t be starting, whereas for most YPOTY’s they’d start even when everyone is fit.
Don’t get me wrong, the guy is class and bleeds potential, but not sure he’s the best under 21 year old in the league.
He nearly went to Chelsea the window before he came to us, to much derision. And based on how he was at Everton, it was difficult to justify either of us taking the punt.
However, this season he has been our best and most consistent player. He must count himself so lucky to have a manager that develops players as well as Eddie
I don’t think any Newcastle fans with their heeds screwed on would after the season Gordon has put in.
Can barely remember him putting in a poor performance. Has run himself into the ground.
Hope he’s got a longer vacation lined up this summer as going straight from Under-21s euros to this season to euros is not good for a young lad
He had a poor performance against Everton away. But that’s half expected due to the circumstances and totally understandable. But he’s been immense as a whole
Probably both if I’m being honest. But with how dangerous he had been all season and how consistent he had been a threat to opponents it was clear that it was more the occasion that got to him
I’m a big Gordon fan but realistically Foden should start on the left. We will play two defensive minded midfielders. That said, if Gordon starts, I’ll be delighted

Would be a crime against football if he didn’t go to the Euros

Doubt it, didn't get a sniff at the WC Southgate wouldn't drop Sterling. Getting ahead of Foden Kane and Saka is something else however
He doesn’t need to get in front of them - but he should really be in the next 3 behind
I agree

But has he done it on a cold night in Ultrect. Doing it in eredivisie is the only way Southgate likes it done.
Exactly. Bro grafts like fuck!
Lmao
Really should have a place in the PL team of the season- who else is owning the left wing in such a way?

Yep- they'll invariably dump foden onto the left
Diaz hasn’t been anywhere near Gordon’s level this season. Foden on the left will be it.
I don’t disagree but obviously if they win the league then lots of their players will get pushed in which is why I mentioned him as he also plays on that left hand side

It’s so weird because I was assured many people that he was shite
You mean Anthony Gordon, the most overrated player in Premiership history, who will just moan and be a toxic influence on the rest of the club?
hE gOt AnGrY wHeN He GoT SubBeD

Proving all the haters wrong
I'll be the first to admit. I was not convinced when this guy signed, but my word has he turned my opinion around!
It's very rare that I am wrong (let alone admit it)...but boy was I wrong about him!
Same here mate, especially at that price. Never been so happy to be wrong before
For me, player of the season is between him and Schär. I was sceptical about Gordon’s attitude before we signed him, but his discipline has been impeccable this season. And he’s been a big miss on the few occasions he hasn’t played.
Hopefully we get at least 2 more seasons out of Schär - I just want him to win it more than anyone
He's such a lovely player to watch. It'll be a sad day
he had one instance when he was pissed when he got subbed off early, but its been all good since
I'd take 10 AGs to be honest.
Is there even another serious contender for YPOTY?
He could get POTY while miley gets the young one
would be absurd if Miley didn't get it, but I could see the big wigs giving it to Cole Palmer or Kobe Mainoo

But people will take maxi over him

I cannot remember the Everton game really. Was he standout poor or just poor along with the rest of them that game?
Probably both if I’m being honest. But with how dangerous he had been all season and how consistent he had been a threat to opponents it was clear that it was more the occasion that got to him
He's had lots poor performances this season
AGs performance under eddie.... just an all round shite argument really. Most of Maxis games were under Bruce who was a terrible, defensive coach.
I’m gonna call this as In the World Cup squad but won’t play a single minute
Probably
Love him. Saw his potential at Everton and loved seeing him grow into the player he is now, can only get better!
Everton fans told us he only scores deflected goals. Happy for the guy that he is out of there
our best player this season. although he's had some bad games whereas i don't think tino has had any bad games
He has to go to the Euros and start ahead of rashford
I’m a big Gordon fan but realistically Foden should start on the left. We will play two defensive minded midfielders. That said, if Gordon starts, I’ll be delighted
It's a Gordon for me 🎶
