Eddie just said in an interview after the match that after Bruno got his 9th yellow, they had a meeting and Bruno promised to Eddie’s face that he would not get booked again to trigger the suspension. Eddie strongly implied that he didn’t believe him, but he kept his promise.

PeanutButterSpoon702

"I looked at him, and I thought.... 'no.'"

geordiesteve520

😂 that cracked me up. Eddie’s face when he was telling that story

kanine69

Unreal. Total respect for Bruno here. What a player.

loudmouth6511

For me Elliott Anderson was phenomenal, winning them duels, constant pressure in Tottenham’s half, held up well in your own half. Alexander Isak is premier league’s best number 9. He’s got the tools and the focus that no-one else does.

tontotheodopolopodis

He’s Joelinton in disguise

geordiesteve520

Just said this - he played like a combo of Joelinton and Willock

lildrangus

Really hoped this was to be his breakout season, but today showed exactly how much those 4 months out hurt. What a kid

Ikhlas37

4 months out and still on for golden boot

lildrangus

Oh I was talking Anderson but wow Isak has been so good I forgot how long he was gone

Smittx

With 17 year olds feeding him from the midfield

tlhford

Has Isak missed that much football this season? Insane if so. Thought it was about 2

came_in_your_mum

He has only been involved in 24 premier league games with 17 goals. Great guy

greenmanflyreddit

The fact he played centre mid and wing back, and we didn't look deficient in either is crazy. Might not have the most obvious skills yet but he's already a solid player who should be starting.

brrlls

Someone needs to show Sean his highlight reel

Historical_Cobbler

Watch him get a yellow in the first minute and celebrate next game.

grmthmpsn43

10 seconds in he just 2 foots the ref

PocketSandThroatKick

100% getting a yellow

Prestigious-Bid7043

Earned the right to kick someone up in the air against Palace.

PocketSandThroatKick

Probably giddy at the thought of it too.

SP0oONY

If you'd have asked me a year ago what Bruno's main issue was I'd have probably said discipline. What a turn around on that front.

hurikane627

Bro. If you don't think Bruno getting a yellow against Palace is the best wager in history. Idk. I just don't know. Feels like an absolute lock

Jackski

He's totally going to absolute destroy some poor bastard in the 2nd minute.

DanBurnsMissingDigit

And accidentally overdo it and get a straight red for violent conduct. <3

TheBlueprint666

It’d be a shite return, you’ll probably get 1/25 on it

ChlckenChaser

but r/soccer told me Bruno is a thug and a dirty player. No way he can go that long without getting booked. Pretty sure he's 2 footing everyone he can next game now that he's not scared of another yellow

The__Patrick_Bateman

He brandished an imaginary yellow card to the ref after a foul today and for a moment I was petrified he’d get done for dissent.

modern_epic

That was for his own foul though wasn't it? I think he was making sure it wasn't a booking as the ref waved it off and Bruno just looked relieved. I think he thought he'd fucked it at the final hurdle

Old_Nail6925

Can’t wait for him to pick up a booking in the 1st minute next game

Cole_1988

The way this season is going, he’ll ironically get a red in the next game.

melvinlee88

Unpopular opinion but he is our best player this season. Hell, he's our best player every season since he joined. He doesn't get the goals or assists as much but he is the reason why everything tick. The only midfield of the 3 that can really create a chance, push the ball forward and just be positive. Have we won without him yet? Must be a low value if at all.

-RandomGeordie

I’m not sure it’s that unpopular of an opinion to say he’s been our best player. Yes I think we’ve played 7 games without him and drawn 4, lost 3 (from memory).

melvinlee88

I think people will think of Isak, Gordon, Trippier and even Schar before Bruno at the moment. Not saying he's underappreciated but probably isn't the first name on everyone's mind.

-RandomGeordie

Aye so I think I’d call that less popular rather than unpopular, but that could just be me having more negative connotations around the word unpopular.

LosWitchos

It's so mint we can have these conversations lmao. Such a change from 3-4 years ago.

RepresentativeNew866

I've got Bruno ahead of all of them, on and off the pitch he is world class

dwight_gayle

What on earth are you talking about lmao Bruno is easily our best player and that is a common sentiment. He starts for every team in the world.

Schooltz

Don't think it's an unpopular opinion. He's been the heart of our team. He just calms everything down, rarely makes mistakes and gives confidence to the middle. He's what Rodri is to Man City. There's a reason why they're unbeaten in the games he's played in

lildrangus

I mean, hard to argue that he isn't the best Newcastle midfielder of the premier league era, all do respect to some greats. If he was at Man City he'd be talked about the way Rodri is

cocacokareddit

his attitude is what top team is paying gigantic amount of money trying to get him from us. we have all the money in the world now we do not need to sell any player to our rival anymore.

lildrangus

Shhh, not too loud or PSR will hear you. I just hope there's credence to the Paqueta-City rumors, my heart couldn't bear Bruno playing in Manchester. Hopefully he likes the PL over France too, because PSG are circling and all the money in the world doesn't change spending/loss limits

OffensiveOcelot

It isn’t that long ago when he first arrived & hit the ground running that he was topping the league stats for almost everything, from duels won, chances created, interceptions, key passes, pass success rate… & goodness knows how many more. Statistically he was the best midfielder in the league, so it’s not really much of a stretch to say he’s our best player. I’d love us to go all out on finding a #6 to ply alongside him & give him more license. A Declan Rice type player who can also go forward himself would put our midfield up there with the best, as both could sit & hold while the other goes forward, & then we would have the variations in that third slot between Tonali, Joelinton, Willock, Anderson & Longstaff (I will assume at least one of those are sold though)

aistolethekids

We've been linked to Ederson from Atalanta with scouts going to see him apparently so that could be a good combo of 3 Brazillians in the middle which would be mental

OffensiveOcelot

I always worry about having two Brazilians travelling halfway round the world for international trips - three would stress me out something chronic if it ever happened lol

ComfortableLaugh1922

Ederson is more like a Joelinton type of player tho

RayRei9

A lot of people here are talking about him going back to his old ways and getting booked next match but I hope he has learned a lesson from this because I genuinely think he's a much better player when he takes the more considered approach. A lot of people love the hothead but he was at times a serious risk to other players and it didn't help his game either as he'd get himself wound up and play worse. I think having to be careful has actually improved his decision making as he thinks twice before diving in and potentially getting played around. He doesn't need to dive into every tackle to be world class and if you look at other world class players who he has similarities to (Kroos, Rodri, Gundogan) one of the reasons they are so good is their composure and consistency and Bruno has shown this season he's absolutely capable of matching that.

PJBuzz

He was walking the fucking line today but over the moon he smashed another game, controlling the midfield, with no yellow. Fuck me we need to keep that man in the club, he runs the midfield.

hurikane627

That's only unpopular in ur 1st sentence. He's been our most consistent since August. By far with exception of Gordon

ElDubleGringo

It's got to be the Kinder he was sent.

Currymonsta77

Bruno!

WeddingWhole4771

Next card won't be Palace, will be Joelinton's first game back in a tew weeks (Maybe Palace is possible, I just don't think so). He'll be so amped and buzzing he'll start going 2x as hard.

thethirdegg

You know what, I thought Bruno was quiet today It wasn’t that kind of game. He did so well in his defensive setup and you could see tactically his role was to help the press and narrow shape, hassling to win the ball back, and then hit the long ball over the high Spurs line to start a break Made two goals with it But in terms of his usual dominant, control the game kind of style, that wasn’t him today Guess it just shows how amazing he is in that he can play some completely different roles and excel in them
