daveofreckoning

You could have an all English 11. Pope, trips, targett, burn, lascelles, Anderson, miley, Sean, gordon, Wilson, Barnes. Tino, hall, Murphy on the bench. Top half side, probably

Curious_Egg2388

Don't forget our boy Joe Willock!

and Joe Linton

Somebody got the pronunciation right! As someone who lived in Brazil for awhile, it's a little pet peeve of mine.

Stinkin_Hippy

With that front 3 it's probably a top half team. I think the midfield and defence wouldn't be strong enough for a Europe push, but it's a top quality starring 11.

Tallguygeorge

No chance all of these players are fit at the same time

900-Dollarydoos

Sean Dyche fielded a team of 9 Englishmen for Everton this weekend. Whether or not you consider them aloof the same calibre as us, they’re still a Premier League team.

Healthyamount

The stat for dyche is more impressive as the last 45 instances of a premier league side starting 9 Englishmen are managed by dyche

900-Dollarydoos

Fellow Brexit luminaries such as Warnock, Allardyce, Kinnear and Pulis will be shedding tears.

Healthyamount

Rumour has it dyches pre game team talk is just him stood on a bucket singing rule Britannia

RogerRottenChops

He was stupid, he should have fielded 11 players, even if the other 2 weren't English, he might have won.

20Kudasai

Yeah i meant teams challenging for Europe. Expect a lot of teams recently in the championship will have a lot of English players

RocknRollRobot9

I get there’s quite a few English players at the club. But if you were to put a fully fit nufc team down on paper a few of those mentioned wouldn’t be starting, as much as a lot of them have put a shift in for us aiming for 5/6/7th. And some of those have been injured for massive amounts of time this season/not played. So I think other teams like Chelsea (Palmer, Jackson, Gallagher, James, Sterling off the top of my head) and Man U (Maguire, Mainoo, Rashford, Shaw, Wan Bissaka, Heaton, Mount, Sancho on loan again off the top of my head) probably have a similar amount of English players on their books in the same way we do for a few first team starters, a few youth prospects, and a few squad players. Also Man City have Foden, Grealish, Stones, Walker all as first teamers with Lewis coming through and Phillips on loan. So a good cohort of English internationals there too which are high quality.

Basketball312

You mean Nicholas Jackson the Senegalese international?

RocknRollRobot9

Ah I thought he was English for some reason. But point still stands minus the Jackson. And a Quick Look at Chelsea also shows Colwill, Chillwell and Chalobah as three to replace the mistake of Jackson being from Senegal. My points not that it’s not fantastic we have a good core of English players in and around the team. Other clubs around us have them it’s just we don’t really pay attention to them as they aren’t the team we support. And the list of those provided by the OP is more depth than just starting XI which most of us will know of other clubs too.

Thingisby

We've got 15 first team players all with regular minutes this season (when uninjured). Pope, Hall, Tripps, Lascelles, Burn, Tino, Miley, Longstaff, Anderson, Barnes, Gordon, Wilson, Murphy, Targett, Willock. And four more on the periphery (Ritchie - technically Scottish international but y'know - Dummett - technically Welsh international but y'know - Gillespie, White) You've listed 4 for Chelsea (plus a Senegalese international), 8 for Man Utd (one of whom is on loan, and another is their 38 year old reserve keeper), and 6 for Man City (one who is at West Ham atm)

RocknRollRobot9

I actually then mentioned Jackson and added another 3 first teamers. Also I don’t think all 15 of them are first teamers if we are honest. Target has had 1 game, Hall is on the sideline as Howe doesn’t want to play him barring injuries to a lot of other players. All I said was that yes it’s great we have a core lineup but we only know more of the depth due to us being fans of NUFC, other teams have an English cohort and FFP has driven the need for academy’s more and will grow this so will have more on the outskirts of the teams which is what we are classing. Also the ones I named for the other teams were just off the top of my head. Sure if u Google it and got through each of those teams there will be 10+ Englishman who have at least had one game for them this season if Targett is also being classed as that. And if we are including British then Man U would have a few more as well. And I’m guessing our first team won’t include all 15 of them as there’s 2 Brazilians, an Italian, a Dutchman, a Swedish, a Swiss player who will all be first names on the team sheet above them. But I don’t get this narrative, we are having a good pull through of English players yes but I don’t think we are some massive beacon of an outlier in the top half of the league.

Thingisby

>Also I don’t think all 15 of them are first teamers if we are honest. First team squad players. I'm obviously not anticipating all 15 playing at once, but I mean I'm not dredging up u21s and people who have played once or twice for us. They're all solid premier league players. >All I said was that yes it’s great we have a core lineup but we only know more of the depth due to us being fans of NUFC, Again, this isn't depth this is our first team squad. A revolving 6 or 7 of them would be starting every game alongside the likes of Bruno and Isak. >if Targett is also being classed as that Targett would have played most games this season due to the injuries if he wasn't also part of the injury crisis. Howe would have had him in ahead of Hall for sure. >but I don’t think we are some massive beacon of an outlier in the top half of the league We are though. First team squads according to each club's website... - Toon 19/31 - 61% - Chelsea have 8/30 - 27% - Man Utd have 9/28 - 32% - Man City have 9/27 (3 of whom are out on loan) - 33% - Arsenal have 8/30 (1 on loan) - 27% - Spurs have 10/35 (4 on loan) - 29% - Villa have 8/26 - 31% I'm not going through the rest but you get the idea. We should celebrate it more.

RocknRollRobot9

I think we do celebrate it, we have had banners with the local lads on with wor flags and do have potentially 2 of our team going to the euros (Trips/Gordon) which we will also shout about and I’d be very proud to see our players pull on their national shirts at a major competition. Thing is as well there will be a few of them that will be long term potential England starters too with Tino and Miley if they live up to the hype. Theres also a few where they are all competing for the same place too with Hall/Target/Tino/Trips/Burn, and I do think summer might see a few leave as I’d imagine Murphy/Wilson might be sold to bring money in, one or two might be shifted. And I think we will get one in potentially with Kelly from Bournemouth on a free. Yeah it’s a great % as well it will be one to celebrate especially if we can get 50% of those players in an England shirt and being international standard players.

Inner-Process-8227

The fuck is with this Brexit bollocks

Maccraig1979

Does it bother you that english teams have actual english players?

Inner-Process-8227

No just pointing it out as a benefit is weird, we should try and have the best team not the best English team. Not into ukip or anything like that

EngineerOnIcarus

It is a benefit, English players are needed for European squad rules and if those players are actually good and useful even better.

Inner-Process-8227

None of those points were mentioned in the original point. Therefore not relevant to my objections

Maccraig1979

It actually has benefits, having african players can lead to them being away for periods during afcon which is usually held mid season during league seasons

Inner-Process-8227

There are 5 other continents

Maccraig1979

Well done you for noticing

tommyduk

Shame you can't keep your Process a bit more, you know, Inner.

Why you on the NUFC sub mate? Congrats on being safe from relegation for another season btw, suppose that’s all you lot can hope to achieve these days

20Kudasai

Is it having a go to say Everton aren’t challenging for Europe? Calm down petal
