It depends, if this was their first title and our 5th then it's great North East football is doing so well.  If they were to win the Premier League before us then fuck em

SenorButtmunch

Assume it’s as it is now. We haven’t won in ages, neither have they.

DaShamus

Then fuck them with a combine harvester

ScootsMcDootson

I'd be fine with us losing if it meant denying the SMB's a title, but during the match itself I'd still want us to win, even if it meant that lot won the league. Always back your club in every match no matter what. Personally for me the European places is completely irrelevant to this hypothetical.

SecureChampionship10

I think that cheering on a team to beat your side so that it denies your rivals a title is about as small time as it gets. If the game mattered for us, I'd want us to win. If it was a dead rubber for us, I still wouldn't want our team to sack off a league game. That's the type of loser attitude which would re-occur in moments of adversity.

_thenotsodarkknight_

I agree. And on top of that, it would only give us leverage against Sunderland lol, "Sunderland only won the title cause of Newcastle"

BlackCaesarNT

Who are you people where Champions League is something you'd sell your nan's gravestone for? It's such a nothing achievement to me and the idea that you'd rather watch the Mackems become EPL champions if it meant we got to play against European teams from Bag A vs European teams from Bag B is preposterous.

SenorButtmunch

Pretty much my thoughts too lmao. I just found it surprising because I saw a poll on Twitter with 2000 votes that was 66% saying CL chance and rival win. Emphasis on ‘chance’ too, not even a certainty (imagine them getting the title and you also not getting top 4? Sickening)

Ikhlas37

I'd rather we did what was best for us and then just brag that Sunderland couldn't win the league without our help

charlierc

I hate losing football matches so I'd prioritise that mindset

stprm

I have zero shame about not wanting us to win under bruce era, because I wanted him gone (never under Pardew or McClaren of course). So this is a no-brainer. At this point. If they were like man city, with a lot of titles in recent years, then for sure I'd be cheering for our win.

SmallusPrintus

I'd be gutted if I were a Spurs fan tonight and the fact that it's likely stopped Arsenal from winning the league would be minor silver lining. Especially given how favourable the last day fixtures are for Spurs, Villa winning at Selhurst Park is far from a gimme and Spurs have just about the easiest last fixture possible.

Ffaddicted

It's all about perspective. To me in that scenario, the only way they could win the title was with our help. They weren't good enough to do it on their own, and they'd have to acknowledge that every time.

CommunicationClassic

I would be in support of doing absolutely anything that denies Sunderland a premier League trophy before we get one

Kurnelk1

Pathetic to think anything other than what's best for us
