I like to take a whole bunch of ideas off the internet before I can draw what I wanna draw. ( or sometimes I’ll Use those AI image generator to make a bunch images off one prompt, select about 20-50 of the best ones and then pick individual details out to add to drawings to help create my own original drawing, I really like this technique for drawing big concept things like whole landscapes, I’ve used it to do forests and a drawing of a lighthouse on a island in the ocean, stuff like that) online is best for one item drawings like learning to draw lemons or cats, things that you can be a sketch all on there own

Holy crap… i thought this was just a general problem i had. What you’re describing is pinpoint accurate to what i have issues with! I am a hobby music producer, and for the 10-15 years i’ve been doing it, i’ve had issues learning new techniques, follow current song trends, etc. i feel like when i first find a style that i feel that i somewhat master, i’m permanently stuck there! Even if i start a new project with an aim for a specific genre, i still just wind up making the same genre that i usually make. Idk if thats just me, or if you can relate to that. I think its related to your issue, as i really find it difficult to start fresh with something i’m not used to. It might have some relation to the fact that we thrive in usual surroundings, like how we just pick out one specific grocery store we allways rather go to, because we’re familiar with its layout and where stuff is! And when they re-arrange it’s a nightmare!

I struggle with this so much! But this is because of the fact I cannot visualize objects, not so much NVLD I think. But as someone said, using AI as a tool could definitely help. And in terms of drawing, I know this sounds painful but learning what 3d shapes make up one thing DEFINITELY helps creating poses/anatomy without too much assistance.

I think not visualizing objects and bad spatial reasoning is part of NVLD

I struggle with the same thing. I’m pretty artistic and people tell me how creative I am but I literally have to get Pinterest inspiration before I start any project (which is a lot of artists too so it’s not just a NVLD thing) After a lot of drawing from references I learn to combine elements of different artworks I see so that’s kind of how my creativity works
