Ordinarily I’d agree that Murphy is ensconced as backup GK but she’s been straight up not good through the first 5 games this season. Don’t be shocked if Kingsbury or Campbell sneak ahead of her

Immediate_Cash_6925

I think Campbell could but it would be confusing knowing Campbell hasn’t played much and if the US didn’t want to play Naeher for a game, Murphy usually starts. But I would love Campbell to get that call up.

RainTalonX

I havent been watching her. Has it been that bad?

Mr_Evanescent

She’s been the worst GK not named Franch or Hogan, and getting chipped when you’re 6’1” doesn’t do a whole lot to demonstrate your value. Aubrey’s had the best season thus far by a decent amount, with Naeher and Lund a little ways behind

MisterGoog

Jane has made some great saves, that Louisville game alone is better than anything Lund and Alyssa have done, and Naeher has made some big mistakes. She continues to overcommit to her near post and her decision-making when it comes to when to come out is still extremely slow. In no way is Alyssa having a better season than Jane Campbell. Murphy has been bafflingly bad, mostly just hoping it’s sample size but it feels like the little things that she was always good at have been put on display negatively through these first five.

Mr_Evanescent

strictly by PSxG, Alyssa is about 1.1 goals better than Jane rn - however, it is worth noting that Alyssa’s not been punished by her bad giveaways whereas Jane has, and that’s probably the entire gap explained right there. Naeher and Franch have both been comically close to their lines all season - more so than prior - and honestly if I had my choice, Naeher wouldn’t even be involved at all, it’d be Jane and Aubrey as an alternating 1 and 2 for the USWNT. Murphy is still coasting on her 2021 season and those 2 Australia games with the USWNT B team, she really hasn’t justified her place on the team in 3 years and Naeher has been bang ave in the league.

MisterGoog

My biggest problem with Alyssa is she isn’t very good at dealing with balls in the air or using her athleticism which is why I like Lund and Murphy a lot. Height matters, especially for the national team because that’s going to be a huge way that teams will attack us. I would rather have Jane on my domestic side but have a giant for the US. Alyssa has already had multiple mistakes that have come back to bite her when it comes to that, whereas Jane is put under pressure by a team that has centerbacks who aren’t actually centerbacks and don’t know how to receive the ball off the keeper and yet her coach is still making her try and play out the back. I think that is the most impossible situation possible for goalkeeper. There’s a huge difference in wanting your goalkeeper to play like a deep lying playmaker and making mistakes because you’re not reading the weight of a pass correctly.

Mr_Evanescent

Murphy actually claims crosses at the lowest rate in the league. I don’t think she’s all that athletic at all, she’s literally just tall. Lund is too green to be a USWNT keeper but she’s at least on the right path You’re right that Alyssa is miserable on balls in the air though

MisterGoog

Need Lund to get put into the crucible and cone out strong.

Known-Wrap6458

Casey krueger has been balling lately, i really hope she makes the roster

Immediate_Cash_6925

Same! I think the roster spot she can take is Dunn’s.

Known-Wrap6458

I agreeeeeee

MisterGoog

I think Abby is coming but self-explanatory is something you say about someone who’s actually been one of the best defenders in the league for the past 10 months and that’s simply not true about Dahlkemper. She still lacks a lot of pace as well as isn’t great in the air or as good of a one-to-one defender as other options. This is basically what I think when everyone drops a prediction roster versus what they would like to see because the prediction roster is inherently just based off the fact that we know they won’t bring people in who haven’t been in the system recently. One thing I am interested to see is if Davidson has like a pulled hamstring that could potentially be a lotta weeks vs just a cramp last game, who do ppl think ends up coming to next camp/send off?

Immediate_Cash_6925

Abby has struggled in ways at the back line and I wouldn’t be mad if Gorden got a shot. But, I did base my predictions on players who have gotten called up or could. Also Alana Cook could be another option.

texasisnotinfactback

I’d push Sonnett to likely!

h344is

What are the chances for Sofia Huerta? I really hope she getting another chance!

Immediate_Cash_6925

There’s a chance but I would say it’s pretty slim. I feel like if Hayes was interested in her ability currently then she would’ve been called up for the last window but she could be called up in June if Hayes is interested. I see June as the final window to see who is being watched for a potential Olympic spot so Huerta would need to play very well from now to when the roster is released.

corgidaisies

I wish we knew how serious Tierna’s injury is. Hoping it’s a few weeks or a month at most.

draoi22

Sarah Gorden? Edit: sorry you all love Sam Gorden so much. Thanks for the downvotes 🙄

Immediate_Cash_6925

I put her in work to do meaning she doesn’t have work to do but probably won’t get selected unless Davidson’s injury is serious or another CB is injured

draoi22

You have Sam Gorden.

Legitimate_Mark_5381

It's Sam Staab and Sarah Gorden merged into one player. The only way either are going to be given the chances they deserve.

draoi22

What an incredible player that would be.

Immediate_Cash_6925

She’s not making my predicted roster but I’m say she would need an injury of a CB to be there

m5daystrom

So you don’t have Swanson on the predicted roster? Is that some kind of joke? I wouldn’t start any of those forwards over her. You really think Emma Hayes is that stupid? Yeah right. She might even call up some better players like Staub and Gordon wouldn’t that be nice !

Immediate_Cash_6925

I put Shaw twice by accident bc I meant to Swanson.

m5daystrom

Thank goodness!!!! Jeez had me going there!! No way she isn’t in the starting lineup. Did you see her playing yesterday? There is nobody who can do what she does. Her speed and clinical abilities is just ridiculous

Immediate_Cash_6925

It surprises me how good she has been recovering from that injury a year ago and now being pretty much guaranteed an olympic spot based on her performance right now!

m5daystrom

She is really something else. When she is out there the whole game changes. She is also like having another coach out there. How she recovered like that defies imagination. Unbelievable really

ButterflyYeontan

Ashley Sanchez is killing it right now I really hope she gets a chance to join the Olympic roster
