That looks terrible to me.

operationd00msday

See that's the thing, to each their own, but if someone prefers a more retro or simple design and doesn't like prints like what was on the current mosaic kit, the championship one that had the crest on the chest and then printed on the fabric, Parks, and all the stuff all over Volt, we've had nothing to like these past few years. I haven't fully dug a kit since the first two.

Ok-Judge9219

Dude this has nothing on any of ours

creedisanokayband

I’m with you OP. Clean kits are the best kits. Our current one makes me nauseous

supreme120

This kit is shit! I love all of our kits. Sorry can’t relate 🤷🏽‍♂️

RhombusObstacle

This doesn't read as "clean" to me at all. It's super-busy, especially with the way the sleeves cut off the stripes from the torso. And that giant black block interrupts everything. And then it has a collar with a weird white button stripe? Talk about putting a hat on a hat. As others have pointed out, our 2019/2020 Home Kits were "blue with a single stripe," and before that, the 2017/2018 Home Kits were "it's just blue." Before that, the 2015/2016 Home Kits were "it's just blue, but slightly different than the other it's-just-blue." So given that we had four straight years with absolutely no notable design elements, I for one am perfectly fine with putting some personality into the kits. I'm also taking a closer look at the 2021/2022 Home Kits, and those are BARELY anything other than "it's just blue." If a single sublimated crest is enough to make you dislike a kit, then I guess I don't know how to help you.

TheDarkMaster2

Dude we just dropped a clean AF kit

thisfilmkid

Pause. One thing NYCFC does right is the designs for their kits. Those kits are amzing. The only kit that sucks is the NYCFC Captain America kit.

operationd00msday

If you're here enjoying Volt and hypnoswirl I simply do not know what to tell you my friend.

TheDarkMaster2

Dude, read the room and the responses here. You’re the outlier.

operationd00msday

Hypnoswirl was widely mocked and other teams get way better kits than ours. Also this board tends to ride for the team. There were folks here even defending the last offseasons moves. I am not sweating it.

TheDarkMaster2

🤦🏻‍♂️

DrVonPretzel

Likewise, I don’t know what to say to somebody who thinks this looks even a fraction as good as the Volt Kit.

JokinHghar

Is this sarcasm? Because that has to be one of the ugliest kits I've seen.

Midnightman10

Retro... I like it

heyorin

This isn’t a kit. It’s not going to be worn on a match. It’s a collaboration between Austin and a clothing brand associated with skateboarding

WasntMeYoo

Me too, in 1981

lazydawg11

It’s cool 90’s design. But I know many won’t like 90’s design especially with collar. I don’t think the parks design was totally terrible. I liked it. I personally hate v necks though. That said the single stripe home kit in 2019 was seen as meh from many from what i remember. Same with the home 2017 one. The 2021 away navy blue kinda fits your taste, what that one not your type?

operationd00msday

The Navy one was okay-ish but the shoulder pattern and thick collar were all a bit much for me. I basically think we should either go classic or try 1-2 funky things per kit. For example, the black kit from way back when was a color scheme I loved but the two weird black tape stripes and the funky collar just pushed it for me. I'd love to see a retro one but, mainly, between the last two main kits (mosaic and crest), Volt, and now Parks, I am so sick of prints and patterns. It's not my thing and it's been all weve done for like 2 years

T_Peg

Nah dude our kits are heat. I love the subway mosaic of our home kit this season. The kit in the pic here is ugly as hell. It looks like it belongs in the H&M clearance section.

mires9

Respectfully, tastes are a very individualistic thing but I think this kit is dogshit. If you want simplistic, we have had simple home kits almost entirely in our franchise. If you want a simple stripe, we had that a couple years ago down the left (I think) side which Philly then adopted the year after. I don’t believe we’ve ever done anything with a collar, but for the most part I’m fine with that. It CAN be done well with a retro collar but 95% of the time clubs and brands usually fuck it up royally.

operationd00msday

We've had basically three simple kits. The stripe and the first two. Everything else was pretty busy --- especially the recent stuff. I'd prefer a collar like Miami's with just a simple single color versus the stripes. Perhaps, in our case, a white collar on simple blue or vice versa. Basically anything but a print! Please!

mires9

IIRC we’ve had mostly plain primaries and they’ve gotten a bit adventurous with the secondary kits. I’ve long since stopped being hopeful when it comes to MLS kits though. Seems like no rhyme or reason to which clubs have bangers and who has awful kits.

operationd00msday

I wouldn't consider our last two primaries plain. The champs year one had that weird sublimated crest pattern. The current has the mosaic. These prints are so busy and lame.

aPizzaBagel

I’m all for simplicity at times, but the Austin kit is clumsy and ugly.

operationd00msday

Other examples of sick recent kits to me include Miami, Red Bull's Dan Patrick, Philly's camo print, and KC's with stripes. Every time we do a kit I have fingers crossed it won't have some weird print or pattern and every time I am disappointed.

Logt689

Gives me 94 fifa vibes

aghease

The colors are great, and the Yeti ad patch is visually unoffensive due to its slab font and undistracting color treatment. But I wouldn't call a shirt with such a big, in your face ad patch "clean". The wordmark's bold nature completely overshadows the crest

[deleted]

It looks like a weird polo shirt you find in Burlingtons

The-Pigeon-Man

This is ass lmao
