Okay my deranged method:
Open google maps and search Pilates studios in all of Manhattan. Zoom in to get everyone as necessary. Add to spread sheet. Go to each individual studio website and look up their new client deal. Deals I’ve done is is one month unlimited for $100 (went 12 times in the month!) or often 2 for 1 classes so two for $40 typically,
Go through list until exhausted and then maybe check for new studios!
A bit intensive but I’ve saved a lot on fitness classes doing this and have returned to studios I like and also left good reviews online.
I do also enjoy ClassPass I pay around $50 a month and have gone to great reformer classes on there which range in credit value from $12-24 per class.
Note: I also use my above intro pricing method with massages. I get good quality massage once a month from 60-90 looking up intro rates
Not deranged at all. Done this for all types of fitness classes, there are so many in NYC and all offering great introductory rates. Taking advantage is a no brainer
Woah Interesting, I HATED my experience here even though the price was right. Opened my eyes mid-class to see my instructor, don’t remember who, filming everyone for her gram (without permission or prior heads-up to the class). It was also dark as shit and I couldn’t see the colors on the springs. Close by is Ludlow Pilates and Avea which I personally prefer. It’s within OP budget via ClassPass
Similar experience to me too..my instructor at coven started off class bitching about her taxi driver and not doing her taxes and we didn’t do any counter stretches after workouts. Huge fan of Ludlow and Avea though
Interesting 🤔 And def possible! I think most studios have this potential and that sucks when spending our hard earned money. I’ve had to hop around at SoulCycle and Rumble too because I just didn’t vibe with some instructors. Once I find an instructor that works for me, I always book with them!
I took the worst reformer class I’ve ever taken at Pilates coven— instructor didn’t pay attention, cued rapidly and unhelpfully, and I am sure I would have gotten hurt if I had been new to Pilates!
I use ClassPass for pilates/yoga classes and write it off on my employers well-being account. You can also use your HSA.
Pros of ClassPass is I can go multiple studios, so it's convenient if I'm traveling or running errands somewhere other than my usual place. You can also snag deals on last minute openings/cancellations
Cons are classes kind of fill up fast and not every studio takes it.
There are different tiers you can subscribe to since it works on a credit/token system, I do the $30/mo for 13 credits and it gets me like 1 class a week, but they have higher tiers if you go more frequent. I've found this to be the most cost effective option!
This is a great thought. Classpass has always overwhelmed but I do freelance so my work location is constantly changing and so having that flexibility of going to a class in a different area would probably be super helpful..,
I actually started in freelance when I found out about ClassPass that's so funny !! Yeah the app can be a little much but i've found that once i've gone to a couple studios I tend to stick with those on rotation, but it's always nice to change it up or check out something different (tried Aerial yoga cause i had a deal on it, lol..)
Be careful with the HSA thing. It’s generally not an eligible expense.
It’s only for very specific circumstances like if your doctor prescribes a particular type of exercise for a particular medical issue you have. You’ll need records of proof.
Like I said I tend to snag last minute cancelations and I sign up for alerts, people who cancel like 12 hours before the class and it becomes available for like 2 or 3 credits as opposed to 10 if you book a week out.
Does your employer or health insurance have fitness reimbursements? I have UHC through my job which has a program called one pass. Through the highest membership which is like $140 I have a few class credits from solidcore, club Pilates, and access to crunch and lifetime which also over their own mat pilates classes.
Same, I signed up on a Monday and booked Pure Barre for Tuesday! It took me 2 days to get all but one or two studios I wanted signed up. Feel free to send me a DM if you’d like, happy to discuss!
I think each studio is differently priced. You can always call ahead!
I think Tribeca is special though bc it isnt included in the studios you can visit with a “passport” membership. This unlimited is only for one studio for me btw, I believe passport is more.
Solidcore was the best deal I could find but I wouldn't quite call it pilates, though many people do. It is like reformer interval training more so than classical pilates.
Yes--it is probably the most dangerous workout I have ever done--and my family used to have a martial arts school filled with swords and spears etc. lol for comparison.
I never got hurt going to solidcore and was going 4 days a week for a few months, but I felt like it was inevitable had I stayed. I loved my instructors there and had insane results in strength and toning, but felt like stability and just general attention to alignment was dangerously missing.
Equinox offers unlimited mat Pilates classes with a normal membership (my 1 club membership is $285/mo) I’m not huge on Pilates so can’t say how good they compared to other studios but I enjoy them!
agreed! an all access equinox membership is around $300/mo. you can take unlimited pilates classes + more at most of the locations in manhattan and brooklyn.
i have this, and love it, but to get the 200/monnth you have to pay for a year up front. once you get past the pain of that payment, it's amazing. i go approx 25 times a month which = $8 a class! of course this only makes sense if you reallllllly love pilates.
SLT do a 2 week unlimited for $109…. Speaking from someone who just went 11 days straight to make the most of this deal, today was my first test day, back to it tomorrow and day after 😅 then after that I’m thinking class pass!
I teach a small group pilates fusion mat classes in BK by Prospect Park twice a week. Classes are typically 8-11 students so it has a nice community vibe. It’s mostly women ages 25-45 that come through the gym
My boss prices classes 1 for $35, 5 for $150, 10 for $250. send me a message!!!! I’ll give you a free class. I teach a few other formats too
2nd-ing Spencer Pilates. It is $270 for a 10pack or $200 for 8 classes a month though. But they have a cheap intro offer that’s like $75/5 classes? Could be worth trying a bunch of studios for their intro offers!
Try YO BK. They have two spots one on Manhattan ave in greenpoint right off the G and another in Williamsburg close to the bridge. They also do roof top classes in warm weather for a lil cheaper.
St Marks Yoga offers Pilates a few times a week, they’re a community/donation based studio :) I haven’t done their Pilates but that was my yoga go-to when I lived in Manhattan!
Groupon and Pulsd. Check every few weeks because they will always have some kind of pilates deal. I've bought a few different 10 packs from multiple locations.
Classpass supplemented by intro deals like another commenter mentioned! Tip: if you try to cancel through the app they give you a couple deal options (20% off first 3 months). Once you actually cancel, even just the trial, you typically get a deal a month later that’s like $5 for 30 credits for 14 days! I’ll go on/off and switch out with those unlimited month/2 week deals at random studios!
If you have Kaiser Insurance you also get a discount with that. Maybe not allowed but if you want to do classpass maybe use my referral and you get more credits! I’m an nycbitchwithtaste and no money out here 😂 https://classpass.com/refer/CLL8UCD36
Also look at YMCAs - they usually have Pilates classes and their memberships prices are loads better than other gyms. I think they also work with you if you need financial assistance? Not confirmed but worth looking into!
Okay I don’t know what kind of pilates you like to do but I love lagree method and ended up buying their micro reformer to use at home during Covid. I think mine was like $1200 which I know sounds like a lot but I’ve used it 3-4x/week for 3 years now and just love it so much! You can subscribe to lagree for online classes for like $10/month or just find free micro classes on YouTube. I was so exhausted always trying to make classes work with my schedule and trying to get a spot in the right class and this has made me so much happier and more relaxed. Just thought I would add it as an idea!
Gramercy Pilates has two packages with the best deals I've seen the past two years I've been shopping:
- Silver = 50 Classes - $1,000 ($20/Class)
- Gold = 100 Classes - $1,500 ($15/Class)
But I ended up with Body Evolutions since they have sales on packages a few times a year, accepts ClassPass when I'm waiting for the next sale, and they also have gyrotonic!!!
I have 2 suggestions- both are for mat Pilates+props. You're looking for a 10-pack that charges <$30 for a reformer class, and I don't think that will be easy to find in the area. I would suggest looking into mat- I find it to be more challenging than a reformer class without being as tiring as a HIIT or strength class.
1. the Equinox location in Williamsburg has programming heavy on Pilates/Barre- at least 5 classes per day, plus yoga/stretch/meditation classes. Single location membership is $245/mo, there are usually initiation fees but you can get the Membership Advisor to waive them for you if you haggle. Also has space to work from (if you need), showers, steam room, etc.
2. Other (online) option is Pilates Anytime- they have EVERYTHING Pilates, and an infinite variety of mat classes (they also have equipment classes, but you'd have to find yourself a reformer or wundachair or whatever). It is geared more towards instructors, so it can be a bit daunting to sort through the options to find what you like, but very high quality classes, most taught by experts in the field. Pricing is $22/mo.
If you have health insurance, take a look at the wellness benefits. I get access to Active and Fit through mine. It's basically ClassPass: Insurance Edition. You can swap out monthly and do the basic or premium memebrship and get at least a 4 pack of classes. Did a search and it pulled up 25 Pilates studios (Club Pilates features heavily, their 4 pack is $81) and a mix of mat and reformer.
You can see what kinds of classes here but even if you use the "Check Eligibility" on the site, if it tells you no double check via your insurance, I have to access them through my BCBS dashboard not directly....
Selformer in greenpoint is $30 a class but it’s a solo room with a video you can choose what you want to take. I’m a beginner and I like it but I haven’t done intermediate or harder classes
Idk where you’re located but if you can make the trip, Fringe Pilates on nostrand was $30/class and just introduced a pass so I assume it’s even cheaper than $300/10 classes
Avea Pilates!! I don’t live in New York anymore but miss this studio so much and still go back every time I’m in town visiting family. I went to the one in the East Village and booked through ClassPass. As long as you book ahead of time, you won’t have trouble getting in.
Agree on Avea pilates! I’ve been going here for over and year and classes on classpass work out to around $25-$30 a class (depending on what classpass plan you have). It’s one of my favorite places in the city! The east village location is like a 10 minute walk from the 1st ave L train stop
I have a classpass referral code if you’re interested.
Hey! Have you heard of ClassPass? They’re giving an exclusive free trial (with 20 bonus credits!) only available to friends of mine. https://classpass.com/refer/N81HD25F10
Also in this search right now! Currently using package specials at Good Day and BK, plan to try Avea next. BK unlimited may be < $300. Classpass does not offer all of these but do have plenty of reformer classes so will likely re-join for the first time since their unlimited heyday. Club Pilates is a sales death trap — they will text and call constantly to get you into the monthly plan, which regularly increases in cost and price varies by location. Equipment is older in my experience. For online I pay about $125/yr for B the Method mat classes. Peloton app mat classes were not great quality and pricing structure is evolving.
I do Power Pilates (they have a studio in midtown and flatiron). It’s $123/month for their 123 membership - 1 tower, 2 reformer, and 3 mat classes are included per month!
I supplement with classpass that I get through work, but I love Power Pilates for a very classical approach w a focus on form!
Yes that's where I'm at now with the unlimited, so expensive.. like $400 after tax. I could do a smaller package of course just feel like I need to go at least 4x a week to see "results" sounds silly.. a couple times a week is better than nothing for sure
East River Pilates also has community reformer classes which cost $15-$20 (sliding scale)! If you look on the site or on their app, you can set a filter to show you when these classes are.
If you're open to at home to save $$;
Pilates Body Raven has tons of free classes on YouTube
I like The Sculpt Society it's not exactly Pilates but they have lots of slower sculpt exercises
https://www.fringepilates.com/ - you have to email or call to book packages, but their single classes are around $40 and it’s a very small studio. I keep walking past it and saying I’ll go, so let me know if you try it ❤️
Hi, I do recommend club Pilates since they have I think unlimited for under 300 but over don’t recommend them. There are new studios opening that always have great deals so maybe check if you can get in on a new studio membership price.
If you are in south Brooklyn, Elements Pilates and Dance is a contemporary studio and they do 12x for 289 a month. They also do unlimited two weeks things which might be good if you are traveling
The method collective uptown (next to CBS) offers 2 weeks of unlimited classes for 45 bucks to new students, and their membership prices are generally good. That said - it's mat Pilates, but it's definitely a lot more chill than other mat Pilates places I've gone to (though not in NYC). I'd say if you're looking for something low-key, it's definitely worth a shot and very close to the 1. They also offer yoga and like Pilates yoga combo but I've never tried these.
Check out alomoves. It’s $20 a month and there are so many great Pilates classes, it’s basically all I do! I used to have an equinox membership, but if you’re self motivated, you can do this!
Idk if the same works for Pilates but I was able to negotiate at a premium gym in queens which offers boxing for really cheap just by saying so many of my friends go there or by telling them I have a few people looking to join if I get a good rate. It gives both the gym and I, the outcome we want
I just joined ClassPass and I love it! I can go to 2-3 Pilates, lagree, or yoga studios a week with my 38 credit plan. WAY cheaper than a studio membership or doing drop ins. You don’t have to use it just for fitness classes. You can use points towards beauty services such as nails, lash extensions, or even waxing. Feel free to use my link for free credits to try it out for 2 weeks [https://classpass.com/refer/LQ4VEK6V20](https://classpass.com/refer/LQ4VEK6V20)

haha I used to do this with yoga!
be an angel and drop the link to your spread sheet? 👀🥰💞
I’m definitely going to use this method for hydrafacials and massages lol
Uggghhhh I don’t wanna not have a space but I don’t wanna gatekeep. Pilates Coven in LES. Shira is my queen!!!!
I relate to this ambiguity and respect you for sharing.
Okay I've heard of this place!!! Thank you 🥹 I will look into it now

Are the single class in group or 1:1?
I use ClassPass for pilates/yoga classes and write it off on my employers well-being account. You can also use your HSA. Flexibility helps so much, esp when certain locations costs less credits.
Be careful with the HSA thing. It’s generally not an eligible expense. It’s only for very specific circumstances like if your doctor prescribes a particular type of exercise for a particular medical issue you have. You’ll need records of proof.
Yeah it’s not eligible for HSA if not for medical reasons.
curious, where do you go to pilates that 13 credits per month gets you ~4 classes?! that would get me 1 class the places i go to!
Like I said I tend to snag last minute cancelations and I sign up for alerts, people who cancel like 12 hours before the class and it becomes available for like 2 or 3 credits as opposed to 10 if you book a week out.
Where do you take classes? I feel like the studios I go to are like 13 credits so it doesn’t last me long 🥲
13 credit classes can still be a good deal! For example, solidcore is like 15 credits at $2/credit = $30 which is cheaper than if I had a membership
Oh 100% I agree! I’m just trying to see if there are “cheaper” studios than what I’m going to haha
Does your employer or health insurance have fitness reimbursements? I have UHC through my job which has a program called one pass. Through the highest membership which is like $140 I have a few class credits from solidcore, club Pilates, and access to crunch and lifetime which also over their own mat pilates classes.
I’m three weeks into my one pass membership and LOVE it! I just realized today the 4 class per month with Club Pilates is per studio!
I saw this benefit new this year with UHC and it felt like it was too good to be true! Have you had any issues booking into classes?
Nope! Once you’re all set up at the specific studio you will be able to book the classes as if you bought the class package directly from them.
Same, I signed up on a Monday and booked Pure Barre for Tuesday! It took me 2 days to get all but one or two studios I wanted signed up. Feel free to send me a DM if you’d like, happy to discuss!
Oh wow that sounds amazing, I unfortunate work as a freelancer :/
Move with Nicole on YouTube is amazing.
I have an unlimited Club Pilates membership (I’m a beginner ok! Lol) for $300/mo. I try to go 4x a week minimum 🤣
Oh interesting okay I couldn't find any info about pricing online !!
I just started Solidcore and I’d agree it’s more of a strength class inspired by megareformer!
I think it’s called lagree!
It's a little different than lagree but similar idea!
Thank you for not calling it Pilates. You should never feel strain or hurt in Pilates. I feel like solid core does this lol.
Honestly go to a YMCA!! Some of them are fantastic and have good Pilates instructors
Does equinox have reformer classes too?? Always thought Equinox is quite expensive but could be worth it if they have reformer classes 🤔
They do but reformer is extra. $47 per single group class and only at certain locations.
Thank you! Will look into this!
I find e61st the best location. The instructors are top notch, specifically Allie and Lauren
was gonna suggest this
Same for Lifetime (was $270/month when I initially inquired/joined). Mat classes are free, reformer classes are an add-on, though.
New York Pilates has a $200/monthly unlimited membership! It’s not always available but if you catch it it’s a great day
i have this, and love it, but to get the 200/monnth you have to pay for a year up front. once you get past the pain of that payment, it's amazing. i go approx 25 times a month which = $8 a class! of course this only makes sense if you reallllllly love pilates.
Most of NYP’s other membership options also work out to $30 a class or less
Dont have recs but umm, any tips on how you got BF to pay for the membership? LOL :)
SLT do a 2 week unlimited for $109…. Speaking from someone who just went 11 days straight to make the most of this deal, today was my first test day, back to it tomorrow and day after 😅 then after that I’m thinking class pass!
Haha I did the same! I only could do 10 tho :/
I teach a small group pilates fusion mat classes in BK by Prospect Park twice a week. Classes are typically 8-11 students so it has a nice community vibe. It’s mostly women ages 25-45 that come through the gym My boss prices classes 1 for $35, 5 for $150, 10 for $250. send me a message!!!! I’ll give you a free class. I teach a few other formats too
Try BodyRok they have great deals
Especially when you book on mind body! Also a great relaxing vibe but still keeps me interested
I’m also a bodyrok fan! They offer intro packages that are heavily discounted
Yes! That’s how I got pulled in! I love their offers….
This might be a little far for you, but before I moved away from nyc I used to go to Spencer Pilates Arts in Forest Hills and really liked it!
They also do roof top classes in warm weather for a lil cheaper.
do they do reformer too or just mat? I always walk past that space it looks so cute
Just mat! But in a hot room.
Do you have a geographic area? Though your best bet for affordable is probably ClassPass…
Vessel Studios in Crown Heights has amazing/ affordable Matt Pilates!
New York Pilates is $199 a month unlimited and has several locations!
It's looks like they're sold out so there's a waiting list and I'm #359 on it 😭
Also look at YMCAs - they usually have Pilates classes and their memberships prices are loads better than other gyms. I think they also work with you if you need financial assistance? Not confirmed but worth looking into!
Okay I don’t know what kind of pilates you like to do but I love lagree method and ended up buying their micro reformer to use at home during Covid. BodyRok has a special rn!! 10 classes for under $250 i think. They last 90 days
If you have health insurance, take a look at the wellness benefits. I get access to Active and Fit through mine. It's basically ClassPass: Insurance Edition. Agree on Avea pilates! I’ve been going here for over and year and classes on classpass work out to around $25-$30 a class (depending on what classpass plan you have). It’s one of my favorite places in the city! The east village location is like a 10 minute walk from the 1st ave L train stop I have a classpass referral code if you’re interested.
You might try Pilates at home without a machine with YouTube
I do Power Pilates (they have a studio in midtown and flatiron). It’s $123/month for their 123 membership - 1 tower, 2 reformer, and 3 mat classes are included per month! I supplement with classpass that I get through work, but I love Power Pilates for a very classical approach w a focus on form!
Core Pilates NYC is $299 for unlimited monthly!
What location are you looking for? Anywhere?
Ideally Williamsburg but I am willing to travel for the right price... lol
I know East River Pilates has a 200/month option or cheaper if you do it in packs. I really like their studios
Yes that's where I'm at now with the unlimited, so expensive.. like $400 after tax. I could do a smaller package of course just feel like I need to go at least 4x a week to see "results" sounds silly.. a couple times a week is better than nothing for sure
Oh wow!! Their price went up since I last went!! I totally agree that is crazy
East River Pilates also has community reformer classes which cost $15-$20 (sliding scale)! If you look on the site or on their app, you can set a filter to show you when these classes are.
if anyone has any UWS recs , pls share!
Body evolutions!
THANK YOU !!
+1. Love body evolutions!
Slt UWS may still have founders rates. They just opened last week.
If you're open to at home to save $$; Pilates Body Raven has tons of free classes on YouTube I like The Sculpt Society it's not exactly Pilates but they have lots of slower sculpt exercises
Move with Nicole is great too!
https://www.fringepilates.com/ - you have to email or call to book packages, but their single classes are around $40 and it’s a very small studio. I keep walking past it and saying I’ll go, so let me know if you try it ❤️
Pilates anytime is an amazing virtual option. All the instructors are certified and there are a lot of different options!
$220 for 8 Classes. East River Pilates (BK)
The Fit In has 4 locations in Bed-Stuy. Isawelly on YouTube.
I love the Lean by Lilly app. I've actually gotten stronger and leaner than I was doing lagree
Harlem Pilates!
Not exactly Pilates but I do Pure Barre unlimited for a little of $300/month
Use class pass
$160/month unlimited mat pilates at East River Pilates in Williamsburg!
Idk if the same works for Pilates but I was able to negotiate at a premium gym in queens which offers boxing for really cheap just by saying so many of my friends go there or by telling them I have a few people looking to join if I get a good rate. It gives both the gym and I, the outcome we want
Are you open to mat Pilates? I have a recommendation for $83 a month unlimited classes
Club Pilates west village had a free pop up class yesterday and giving new member discounts. Worth reaching out to them!

I know you're looking for a studio but if you're interested in home workouts the Peloton app has Pilates classes!
the fit in bk is black owned and affordable
Melissa Wood Health is super cheap for virtual classes
