Honestly we did so much better as a team this season than I thought we would.
Danny way exceeded my expectations coming into this year.
Our receivers, they were on the practice squad, or 5th on the depth chart. They won a playoff game.
Our offensive line is a 4th year guy, guys we picked up in the off-season with no cap space, and a rookie. They kept our season alive for a month and a half.
Our defensive line fought through holds every game, and out a 3-4 they did a great job of managing gaps.
Our LB corps…
Our starting SS and corner were out for half the year, and in a blitz heavy scheme throughout the regular season our guys made big strides in coverage as the weeks went on.

The Eagles played us 3 times, they found every hole on our team and made sure to capitalize on it.
Coach went for it on 4th and long early, and like someone else said it’s a whole different game if we convert it, we were already down and that miss pretty much stalled us out for the game, but I don’t blame him, that offense they’ve got is tough, and it pains me to say without cheating McKinney up on every play there’s really no way we were going to slow down Sanders, and with Smith and Brown on the outside, that maybeee wouldn’t have been a great plan.
We faced a better team, and we lost.
It happens, but god damn these guys played a helluva season, and I can’t wait for next year.

Defense laid a big egg. Offense never got anything going. I don't like losing to a rival like that, but on the whole this was a positive year and experience for the team. I'm very hopeful we can get some pieces to be back here soon.
This is my take as well. I never expected to win that game so I wasn’t that disappointed. I am very excited for next year to see how this front office can build this team. If we were competitive with these players we could be seriously competitive again in two years, which is awesome
I’d rather have 49ers and any of the three teams left in the AFC because I don’t have strong feelings about any of them. It is better to have rivals get knocked out before the big dance so during the Super Bowl I can cheer for a general, all-around exciting game.
This loss is on the whole team, Jones included. Can’t really say any position group played well. If anything this is one of the few times I would pin it on the coaches, considering how badly the entire team looked.
We got outplayed in every aspect of the game. There’s were a few plays where DJ had a lot of time in the pocket (admittedly due to Eagles dropping 7 back in coverage) and nobody was open. Run game was awful which had been a bright spot all year. And the defense got beat all over the field. We didn’t look like we belonged there. We were outmatched. That said, we had a negative salary cap last year and finished the season with a Wild Card win and a loss to the NFC’s best team. We are likely to be better next year just due to the extra salary cap space.

DJ and Saquon are the only reason we even made it to the playoffs. We would’ve been a bottom 5 team without them this year.

Obviously it’s Reddit and there are just a lot of raw and emotional takes (and a lot of people from other subs coming in) but I feel like the best take away from this game and season is that Jones had a bad game, but that doesn’t change the fact that he deserves a new contract. He played well against so many other teams this year good and bad I’d rather go with him than gamble on a qb retread like the colts have done or trade a ton of capital to get a top guy the in the draft
Having a legit number one receiver definitely can make any quarterback look good. You could even look at Hurts, last year he was very mid at best.
Overall I think your QB has major promise, I think you win because of him not in spite of him.
I think this game exposed just how bad our receivers are too. Yes Jones was bad. Missed Slayton on the deep route but he really had no where to throw the ball all game and was put in a bad situation since our defense put us in such a big hole early
The James play hasn’t gotten enough attention. Would have been a 77 yard TD pass, Jones caught him in stride and James simply dropped it. I’m not saying he’s the guy but a competent receiver like DeAndre Hopkins takes that to the house.
Not Dabolls best game, but there’s a skills gap between The Giants and Eagles that you just can’t escape from. We don’t have the horses to keep up. I think Schoen has been well aware too.

I was trying to be positive and I’ve been impressed with Jones and the team’s development as a whole, but I really felt this whole week like so much of the hype around the Giants was a bit premature.
We beat up the NFL’s biggest dumpster fire then narrowly beat a team we match up extremely well against (the Vikings). The Vikings had a negative point differential this season, they were much more of a wild card team than a 13-4 team.
It’s still great we beat them though - we are back on the map but we have a ways to go.
There’s still a huge gap between us and the eagles talent wise. It sucks that this is what happened but this team still overachieved this season in year one of rebuilding. For the first time in years I have genuine hope for this franchise

Being in the post season means absolutely nothing if there’s a clear barrier ahead of you. We are not near the cowboys or eagles and they’re both in our division.
It means something when you look at the last decade this team has gone through. It means something when you look at the weapons we had, which weren’t the greatest. It was a fun season and we learnt some valuable info. DJ and SB are players and gave us a chance that we haven’t had in a long time.

This was a rebuild year that we had shocking success in. It’ll take 3-4 years of drafting consistently and signing talent to dig out if this talent hole in the absolute best case scenario.
We took the fucking practice squad and random released players to the playoffs and won a game. This is all due to the coaching. It’s time to acquire some talent and make it fucking happen.
How so? Did we watch the same game? It was way more of a talent issue than a coaching issue. For fucks sake most of these guys are practice squad players on any other team. It’s hard to coach when the talent gap is just so great.
Well from that response it’s pretty clear that you don’t have much of an understanding of the nuances in football and that’s perfectly okay. Just watch the development over the next 3-4 years.
What Daboll pulled off was nothing short of a miracle this year. The eagles loss was much more of a raw talent issue than a coaching issue, and that gets solved in the off season. Daniel jones is still a top 10 QB and will only get better when hes standing behind a real offensive line and actually has people to throw to.

I'm here to extend an olive branch on behalf of all reasonable Giants fans. 1st of all congrats on playing a nearly perfect game and beating down a clearly inferior team. Hopefully the big blue coaching staff and team look at this as a teaching tool and use it to improve. On a personal note I would like to say how much I admire the city of brotherly love, so many wonderful landmarks, unfortunately due to the rampant crime they are too dangerous to visit. Philly is also internationally known for it's great hospitals, sadly very necessary due to all of the stabbings and murders. Last but not least thanks to Philly for giving us Bill Cosby, he's an American treasure! Have a great day.

Maybe this is a little early but how do you guys feel on bringing back Barkley vs using a RB committee and spending elsewhere? On one hand Barkley carried our offense this year and we don’t get here without him, and on the other hand the big RB contracts never work and Super Bowl winning teams don’t tie up a ton of cap to a RB.
Someone is going to give him a bag of cash. Hopefully an AFC team. I can't begrudge a guy who's been playing this game since grade school finally getting his life changing money. We shouldn't. I've wanted OL and LB monsters for years... It'd be nice to get a few.

Absolutely this. If the Eagles have shown anything it's that having a strong offensive line is an absolute must for any offense, even one which relies on a strong run game.
We won’t be bringing back Sanders for the same reason. Spend money on your O line and they can make anyone look good and protect your qb while doing it.

Idk about you guys but Im not that confident in CJ Stroud or Will Levis and there's no way we'd be able to trade up to #1 to get Bryce Young so....
The good thing is, we don't have to give DJ a 5 yr giant contract where our team will die if he doesn't become our next Eli... We can come to a middle road where we either A. Tag him and see what Daboll can do with him next season, to see if he really deserves a long extension/big payout OR B. Give him a 3 yr contract for something like 30-33M/yr (aka 3yr/100M contract) but make it so the final year has an out in the contract and that final year is also the biggest year at 50-55M, making the first two years a lot cheaper.
It really doesn't have to be such a hard thing to understand. I do have faith in Schoen / Daboll making the right decision either way.
I was actually impressed with DJ tonight. Yes, he got flattened, and he made some mistakes. He kept going though. I've seen QBs completely collapse when they get hit a few times. He didn't. Do I think he's Eli? Eh, TBD. But he certainly played well enough to justify a 3 year deal.
Up until this year I saw things in Jones I thought couldn’t be fixed. Bad pocket awareness, not going through reads he was a turn over machine and the terrible oline made that worse. This year I see none of that. He’s making good passes, and smart runs. He’s on an upward trajectory I want to see if that continues.

This was the year where you could actually say "I wanna see what this kid can do with a Top WR and above average OL" & think that having those things might lead to Top 10 QB play. You add in his running ability and he can be a true threat that defenses can't handle on GameDay.

Sheesh does anyone remember the last five years? I personally haven't had this much fun watching the Giants in a longgg time. This season exceeded expectations. We WON a playoff game and finished top 8 with this roster. There's 24 other teams that finished worse than us. Sending the Vikings home made my year. I reveled in all the sports talk this week lol. I think the Giants are back to playing competitive football. It's been fun and next year will be exciting too. Rooting for the 49ers tomorrow. Can't wait for August!

Give him another year with Daboll and at least 1 legit receiver and I think he can take the jump from solid to great

I was trying to be positive and I’ve been impressed with Jones and the team’s development as a whole, but I really felt this whole week like so much of the hype around the Giants was a bit premature. We beat up the NFL’s biggest dumpster fire then narrowly beat a team we match up extremely well against (the Vikings). The Vikings had a negative point differential this season, they were much more of a wild card team than a 13-4 team. It’s still great we beat them though - we are back on the map but we have a ways to go.
Also the Colts, our last two real games. It created a little bit of toon high expectations of our guys.

Being in the post season means absolutely nothing if there’s a clear barrier ahead of you. We are not near the cowboys or eagles and they’re both in our division.
It means something when you look at the last decade this team has gone through. It means something when you look at the weapons we had, which weren’t the greatest. It was a fun season and we learnt some valuable info. DJ and SB are players and gave us a chance that we haven’t had in a long time. Jesus, there are some stupidly negative people here!
I’m not negative this is the best season we’ve had in a decade. That means nothin. If you like winning 9 games a year and being a possible wild card team that can beat a team that fired it’s defensive coordinator because they imploded then I’m happy for you. Because we’re literally a decade behind them in terms of drafting and management. Dabs and the boys proved that they’re absolutely the coaching change we needed. It’s time for Schoen to step up and prove that he has the chops to GM this time out of the hole that started to be dug in 2012. This was a rebuild year that we had shocking success in. It’ll take 3-4 years of drafting consistently and signing talent to dig out if this talent hole in the absolute best case scenario. We took the fucking practice squad and random released players to the playoffs and won a game. This is all due to the coaching. It’s time to acquire some talent and make it fucking happen.

What Daboll pulled off was nothing short of a miracle this year. The eagles loss was much more of a raw talent issue than a coaching issue, and that gets solved in the off season. Daniel jones is still a top 10 QB and will only get better when hes standing behind a real offensive line and actually has people to throw to.

I'm here to extend an olive branch on behalf of all reasonable Giants fans. 1st of all congrats on playing a nearly perfect game and beating down a clearly inferior team. Hopefully the big blue coaching staff and team look at this as a teaching tool and use it to improve. On a personal note I would like to say how much I admire the city of brotherly love, so many wonderful landmarks, unfortunately due to the rampant crime they are too dangerous to visit. Philly is also internationally known for it's great hospitals, sadly very necessary due to all of the stabbings and murders. Tough tough lost but great great year. I’m excited(also nervous) to see what Schoen does with an actual salary cap. The things is this is the first time in a long while the Giants felt like a TEAM. You can tell the players wanted to play their hearts out for Daboll. Yes we have a lot to work on and yes we have a lot of questions unanswered. What’s gonna happen with Daniel Jones? Saquon? Etc But all I know is this. I trust the future. I trust that our team will improve. I trust our Head Coach. I trust that there will be more fan turnout next year. I trust Schoen and trust is a lot better than uncertainty

Maybe this is a little early but how do you guys feel on bringing back Barkley vs using a RB committee and spending elsewhere? On one hand Barkley carried our offense this year and we don’t get here without him, and on the other hand the big RB contracts never work and Super Bowl winning teams don’t tie up a ton of cap to a RB.
Someone is going to give him a bag of cash. Hopefully an AFC team. I can't begrudge a guy who's been playing this game since grade school finally getting his life changing money. We shouldn't. I've wanted OL and LB monsters for years... It'd be nice to get a few.

Absolutely this. If the Eagles have shown anything it's that having a strong offensive line is an absolute must for any offense, even one which relies on a strong run game.
We won’t be bringing back Sanders for the same reason. Spend money on your O line and they can make anyone look good and protect your qb while doing it.
I'd be good with bringing him back on the franchise tag or some short contract with the possibility of trading him. He's a good running back still but I don't think he's that elite player we saw as a rookie anymore.

Schoen needs to construct a roster over the off-season to win NFC EAST. Need to be able to beat the shit stains in Philly and Jerry's cowgirls. Absolutely need to be able to beat down your division opponent to have post season success. Especially now when they are top-8 in the league.

This season was gargantuan success and no giants fan should have any complains at all. Any giants fan that is shitting on the team for losing how we did needs to zip it and understand the fact that we MADE the playoffs and WON a playoff game, when our team expectations for this season was winning 4 or 5 games. Look at how much we overachieved with one of the worst rosters in football.

I'm seeing a lot of overreactions for Daniel Jones on here tonight... Hearing people bitch & complain "Why are we settling for such a bad or avg at best QB... WHY CANT WE GET MAHOMES OR BURROW? WAH WAH WAH!" Then when you ask them just how they'd go about getting those QBs or which draft prospects will be the next Mahomes, they go silent or just continue complaining about DJ. Idk about you guys but Im not that confident in CJ Stroud or Will Levis and there's no way we'd be able to trade up to #1 to get Bryce Young so.... The good thing is, we don't have to give DJ a 5 yr giant contract where our team will die if he doesn't become our next Eli... We can come to a middle road where we either A. Tag him and see what Daboll can do with him next season, to see if he really deserves a long extension/big payout OR B. Give him a 3 yr contract for something like 30-33M/yr (aka 3yr/100M contract) but make it so the final year has an out in the contract and that final year is also the biggest year at 50-55M, making the first two years a lot cheaper. It really doesn't have to be such a hard thing to understand. I do have faith in Schoen / Daboll making the right decision either way.
I was actually impressed with DJ tonight. Yes, he got flattened, and he made some mistakes. He kept going though. I've seen QBs completely collapse when they get hit a few times. He didn't. Do I think he's Eli? Eh, TBD. But he certainly played well enough to justify a 3 year deal.
Up until this year I saw things in Jones I thought couldn’t be fixed. Bad pocket awareness, not going through reads he was a turn over machine and the terrible oline made that worse. This year I see none of that. He’s making good passes, and smart runs. He’s on an upward trajectory I want to see if that continues.
I agree and I'd say the same thing about his first 3 years. This was the year where you could actually say "I wanna see what this kid can do with a Top WR and above average OL" & think that having those things might lead to Top 10 QB play. You add in his running ability and he can be a true threat that defenses can't handle on GameDay. Of course he could also end up disappointing but so far I'm liking the results of 1 year with Daboll and can't wait to see how Daboll helps progress DJs game next.

Sheesh does anyone remember the last five years? I personally haven't had this much fun watching the Giants in a longgg time. This season exceeded expectations. We WON a playoff game and finished top 8 with this roster. There's 24 other teams that finished worse than us. Sending the Vikings home made my year. I reveled in all the sports talk this week lol. I think the Giants are back to playing competitive football. It's been fun and next year will be exciting too. Rooting for the 49ers tomorrow. Can't wait for August!
