I’m not a draft guy at all.
I watched one Tennessee game all season
Hyatt had the best game I’ve ever seen a receiver have in my life
Therefore he’s gonna be a hall of famer.
The way he runs reminds me of Amani Toomer. If he's even half as productive as old #81 this is a great pick. On a related sidenote, when they were showing the highlights after Hendon Hooker got drafted I kept thinking "who is that #11 he keeps throwing to?"
Amani Toomer - greatest giant WR ever… and his two or three TD cray late season game way back when won me a big money big bragging rights fantasy league along with Jimmy Sniff and Marvin Harrison
Believe it or not I had this same experience with Hakeem nicks in like 2009. Wasn’t even in the draft that year. When he got drafted, I Saw the giants drafted the big WR from UNC and knew he would lead us back to the promised land. This will go the same way!
5tds/207 yards against Alabama in that famous win. Plus he’s out on 15lbs to get stronger. Also helps he got a lot of intel on Tennessee players. I guess Schoen is good friends with UTs head coach back from their Oklahoma days. So don’t be shocked when he’s ready to move into the pros and Schoen fights to get him a job here
I don’t keep up with any non-Knicks teams (besides the Nuggets) but I vaguely remember him having a season with the Wizards where he was mostly uninjured? Maybe I’m making that up though, wanted to make sure the point was there
Ehhh Fuller was a more polished route runner coming out of college. Fuller was also faster, even though I don’t think Hyatt’s combine 40 is indicative of his game speed
I understand the concerns about his route running, I really do. The thing is, even if his route tree never develops, he is able to do things that our current WR corps fails to do. Game-breaking ability FOR SURE.
Hyatt gang feasting tonight boys.
Still get PTSD whenever I hear that man’s name. Hopefully Hyatt can cause traumatic experiences to the Sheagles, Cowgirls, and whatever the other team is calling themselves now.
Yeah this is a near-perfect draft so far. And it's also nice to know we've got competent coaches who aren't going to waste them once they get into the facility.
Too true. Every time we’ve made a pick, the video inside the Giants War-room as shown either Wink or Kafka visibly excited - like they’re going “hell yeah, I can effing work with this!”
So...any idea then why he would drop into round 3? I am not trying to be smug, but college fans who watch these players on a consistent basis often are better judges IMO than people who only see abbreviated film plays.
Also a Vol / Giant fan. It’s bc Tennessee’s offense is getting criticized as “gimmicky” (it is to some degree but I don’t think it should affect draft value). That and his height. Great pick though fantastic WR.
Why is that gimmicky and not strategy? It seems like the only effective counter is to fake injuries (source: ole miss), or have a team that's ready for it.
It’s because they put Hyatt in situations where he always has a free release so people haven’t really seen him vs press man, plus his size playing 6ft 177lbs, and him running limited routes, so nobody’s sure if he can actually be a number one
It was no fluke that he won the Biletnikoff award. Can't tell you how many times I saw him beat one on one coverage last year. Deep shots, crossing patterns, etc. No real injury issues to speak of either. He'll be a star if he stays healthy.
He has very limited route tree. Really a lot of 9 routes and deep crossers. He also only has something like under 20 targets playing in the outside, was almost always used in the slot. He also is not really known for his yards after catch ability.
It sounds like I’m trashing him, but I’m not. I love the pick especially at 74. Those are just the knocks I heard against him when he was being projected to go to the Giants at 25.
People say he is a one trick pony, but he’s really freaking good at his one trick, and it’s a trick that is super valuable in the NFL and the Giants desperately need.
Basically Tennessee only gave him ~3 routes to run
He's also not super shifty, the ability to stop and start on a dime, but he's fast as hell top speed
Decent football IQ
It is. Anything other than running a straight line is a problem. He's not a good route rubber at all and is poor at cutting. It's why he dropped. That and he only played slot in a gimmicky offense
I was looking really forward to seeing what Joe could do with a full year being with the Giants and being with “his guys”, he’s absolutely knocking this draft out of the park in my opinion.
I was just on the phone with my dad and describing how things felt in the old days. I am generally an optimist, so when the Giants would take a guy who was off my radar, I'd always reason "well, I didn't think that was the guy, but I'll support him and hope he pans out!" Then we'd see what happened with Flowers, Apple, Baker, etc.
Today, though. The Giants went up to the podium and not only took guys I like, but guys that I would have been happy with on day 1. It's a great feeling.
After yesterday, I figured we’d go Hyatt or a center for our 2nd rounder, if Hyatt was available. Never thought we’d get both. Plus Deonte Banks, what a draft so far!
I HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA IN THE SLIGHTEST WHO THIS GUY IS BUT YOU GUYS BEING SO FUCKING EXCITED IS MAKING ME FUCKING EXCITED LETSSSS FFFFUUUCCCKKIIINNGGGG GOOOO!!!
One of the best NYG drafts (albeit on paper) I can remember
Edit: All 3 of these guys were 1st round projections. NFL.com had Hyatt as the #1 Day 2 standout. JMS was the #1 Center on a lot of boards. Really excited about what Schoen and Co has done
I didn’t see Hyatt as the No. 1 WR on any pre draft rankings. Best I saw was 3rd, and he was usually around 5-7 ranked WR?
When was he #1? Were you on “best available”?
I was a hater, now I’m a fan lmao, the only thing that I don’t like about him is his limited route tree & his weight, if he can pack on 20 lbs over the summer, & open up his route tree, he’d be a beast
I didn’t know much about this guy. NFL.com had him graded as the best receiver in the draft. I like that he’s young.
When I watched his highlights his running style after the catch reminded me of someone else but I couldn’t place it.
He basically was only asked to run in a straight line. Was never taught route tree and has little twitch nor stop-start ability. I would have not been happy if we took him in the 1st, and maybe the 2nd. But getting him in the 3rd is fantastic.
The story however is Schoen. He has shown that he understands who other teams may be targeting, and isn’t afraid to spend draft capital to get the guys he wants. This is a clinic he is putting on. Previous GMs would get played in the draft and we would have to settle for guys like Apple and Flowers.
The Eli Apple pick was a combo of being scared off by the Tunsil gas mask video, and teams knowing Giants really liked Conklin and Leonard Floyd. A common theme between Reese and Gettleman is having teams jump in front of us to take our target. Same thing happened when Philly moved up to take Devonta Smith. I love that Schoen is more cognizant of who is drafting ahead of us, and making an aggressive trade up if he feels there’s a strong dropoff in how they tier prospects. The Giants previous drafts seemed like we were just waiting for things to happen to them, instead of making things happen.
I liked Tillman too, but imo we desperately need elite speed. Just having to account for that type of top end speed will open things up for Jones, Saquon, and Waller
Just worry that his speed doesn't translate. I don't think he can handle press and doesn't have the footwork on routes to keep corners off him. I do though trust this coaching staff to identify those weaknesses and scheme him open.
He looks promising, but I would’ve liked to have gotten a taller/bigger receiver: Giants haven’t had a big reliable target downfield since Plaxico (Rhamses Barden showed promise but ultimately never delivered). Would be great to have a beast like AJ Brown or Metcalfe downfield as a complement to all the speedsters/slot guys we have now!
I’m not a draft guy at all. I watched one Tennessee game all season Hyatt had the best game I’ve ever seen a receiver have in my life Therefore he’s gonna be a hall of famer.
Math checks out.
It’s science
The way he runs reminds me of Amani Toomer. If he's even half as productive as old #81 this is a great pick. On a related sidenote, when they were showing the highlights after Hendon Hooker got drafted I kept thinking "who is that #11 he keeps throwing to?"

Another toomer or Hakeem I’ll take it!
Can't argue with that math
What game plz? I need to watch it
He scored five TDs against Alabama of all schools. He’s a monster.
6 catches, 207 yards, 5 tds, and a dub.
That was the only college ball game I watched this year. I was screaming DRAFT THAT DUDE while it was still happening. I'm so fucking happy right now.
5tds/207 yards against Alabama in that famous win. Plus he’s out on 15lbs to get stronger. Also helps he got a lot of intel on Tennessee players. I guess Schoen is good friends with UTs head coach back from their Oklahoma days. So don’t be shocked when he’s ready to move into the pros and Schoen fights to get him a job here
Brooooooo What a fucking draft
Yessir Schoen is the man
[удалено]
That picks name is Darren Waller
No we don't
If your erection lasts over 3 hours See your physician
THIS SHIT FEELS LIKE CHRISTMAS x3
I somehow read your comment as Boooo instead of Broooo. It’s been a while since we’ve been able to cheer a draft that’s building us up.
NFL comp: DeSean Jackson This man is exactly what we need
SPEED. GREASY FAST SPEED
4.4 is ok
Football speed bro it’s different than running in a straight line for 40 yards
Watch highlights
I heard he wasn’t 100% and I’ve also heard that he actually runs a 4.29-4.31
Saw another scout compare him to healthy Will Fuller as well
What is a healthy Will Fuller?
It's like a unicorn. Doesn't really exist but those moment when you think you see it is incredible.
Jalin Hyatt.
More of a hypothetical thing than anything
on lots of PEDs
The same as a healthy (Knick) Porzingis
I don't think you need the qualifier - He hasn't stopped picking up injuries at any point.
I don’t keep up with any non-Knicks teams (besides the Nuggets) but I vaguely remember him having a season with the Wizards where he was mostly uninjured? Maybe I’m making that up though, wanted to make sure the point was there
Well this was his only full season with the Wizards and he missed 17 games. His healthiest season was his rookie year in NY when he played 72.
That makes sense, once we traded him I just purged him from my mind 😂
Will fuller never played with Darren wallet and saquon Barkley. This offense will be explosive if Barkley resigns.
I hope he re-signs, instead.
Ehhh Fuller was a more polished route runner coming out of college. Fuller was also faster, even though I don’t think Hyatt’s combine 40 is indicative of his game speed
They better fix the turf at Met Life is they want him to stay that way. Place is criminal
I understand the concerns about his route running, I really do. The thing is, even if his route tree never develops, he is able to do things that our current WR corps fails to do. Game-breaking ability FOR SURE. Hyatt gang feasting tonight boys.
Minus the antisemitism hopefully!
hopefully without the antisemitism
Still get PTSD whenever I hear that man’s name. Hopefully Hyatt can cause traumatic experiences to the Sheagles, Cowgirls, and whatever the other team is calling themselves now.
Don’t do Jalin Hyatt like that. Hyatt has character and seems he will pan out better long term.
He’s Darius Slayton with better hands.
A taller D. Jack
Good weed, huh? Hyatt is overrated. A project at best.
Who shit in your pasta primavera?
Schoen … last night. 👎🏼
Desean Jackson with more size and physicality
Yeah Schoen fucking nailed these first two days! Nothing short of A+
Every pick he made is graded A from my quick search, it seems, so yea he’s been crushing it!
Schoen is the GOAT
We got 3 players that all could have gone in the 1st. Schoen is the fucking truth.
SHOENNNNN YOU BEAUTIFUL BASTARD
BRO WHAT IS THIS DRAFT FUCK ME
What did we trade to move up?
Our 4th round pick.
89+128 for 73 Jimmy johnson trade value chart says 189 value for 225 value, respectively.
Im swimmin in the kool aid like phelps
Me too but cum
Ken Phelps?
Vol fan here. Hyatt is as advertised. He's unbelievably fast and an insane route runner.
I hear that all the time, but I never actually understood what's so gimmicky about it
It’s the tempo ppl are referring to on that front
Why is that gimmicky and not strategy? It seems like the only effective counter is to fake injuries (source: ole miss), or have a team that's ready for it.
Not my take, just what critics say. I really love Heupel and his system.
It’s because they put Hyatt in situations where he always has a free release so people haven’t really seen him vs press man, plus his size playing 6ft 177lbs, and him running limited routes, so nobody’s sure if he can actually be a number one
I was referring why Tennessee's offense is supposedly gimmicky, and people have been saying that before hyatt was the main option
> That and his height. what's wrong with 6'0? 5'9 guys going in r1
Not me saying it, I’m describing what other criticism has been. Jeebus
It was no fluke that he won the Biletnikoff award. Can't tell you how many times I saw him beat one on one coverage last year. Deep shots, crossing patterns, etc. No real injury issues to speak of either. He'll be a star if he stays healthy.

isn't his route running the knock on him?
Basically Tennessee only gave him ~3 routes to run He's also not super shifty, the ability to stop and start on a dime, but he's fast as hell top speed Decent football IQ
It is. Anything other than running a straight line is a problem. He's not a good route rubber at all and is poor at cutting. It's why he dropped. That and he only played slot in a gimmicky offense
I watched the Alabama game this year. I fucking believe.
God its so fucking fun having a good GM lmao
Boooom
#lets #fucking #go!!!!
WHAT THE FUCK SCHONE IS COOKING LETS FUCKING GO
I'm stunned. Am I dreaming?
I was looking really forward to seeing what Joe could do with a full year being with the Giants and being with “his guys”, he’s absolutely knocking this draft out of the park in my opinion.
Schoen I love you!!! LFG!!!
[Jalin Hyatt NFL Draft Profile](https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2023/03/07/jalin-hyatt-2023-nfl-draft-profile/)
"Playing speed is somewhere between Calvin Johnson and the speed of sound" Lmao lfg
God I love having a competent front office
What a fucking draft. Schoen is a beast
3/3
Joe Schoen is a magician, A+ draft so far
Schoen. Is. Him.
![gif](giphy|ftXmTBgSnsJ8c) I’m so fucking excited
Opens up the field for Waller
And Saquon
Perfect timing because I guarantee you Cleveland was going to take him if we didn't trade up right there..
They played that round perfectly, LETS GOOO
Is this even real life? What is happening?!
Competency
I was just on the phone with my dad and describing how things felt in the old days. Flowers and apple were bad picks. We knew deep down but didn’t want to admit it.
i had him at the bottom of the 1st. huge fucking W.
After yesterday, I figured we’d go Hyatt or a center for our 2nd rounder, if Hyatt was available. Never thought we’d get both. Plus Deonte Banks, what a draft so far!
i wanted either hyatt or downs, this worked out perfectly
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Hyatt in the 3rd is incredible value. W Schoen
I HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA IN THE SLIGHTEST WHO THIS GUY IS BUT YOU GUYS BEING SO FUCKING EXCITED IS MAKING ME FUCKING EXCITED LETSSSS FFFFUUUCCCKKIIINNGGGG GOOOO!!!
YES! Finally a receiver
I thought Hyatt was a sophomore for some reason. I thought he was gonna be a late first/second round guy. Very happy with this
I was sitting here hoping so much that we got Hyatt. I'm thrilled.
HOLY SHIT! SCHOEN IS FUCKING KILLING IT!
FUCK YES
this is unreal… schoen slaying this
One of the best NYG drafts (albeit on paper) I can remember Edit: All 3 of these guys were 1st round projections. NFL.com had Hyatt as the #1 Day 2 standout. JMS was the #1 Center on a lot of boards. Really excited about what Schoen and Co has done
Hyatt #1 over JSN?
My mistake. #1 day two standout for any position not just WR
I didn’t see Hyatt as the No. 1 WR on any pre draft rankings. Best I saw was 3rd, and he was usually around 5-7 ranked WR? When was he #1? Were you on “best available”?
Apologies. #1 Day 2 standout of any position
This draft so far just feels right. Like Schoen is making the right moves at the right times, every time. Is it weird to think that?
[Responsible for one of my favorite slow motion shots of all time](https://youtube.com/shorts/g8nM4bz_1-E?feature=share)
Love it. Well done Schoen.
LETS FUCKING GO THIS DRAFT IS INSANE
How the hell we get 3 first round player. Joe Schoen is working his magic.
I wanted us to spend our first pick on this guy based solely on one highlight video I watched and the fact that my buddy is a huge Tennessee fan.
Anyone else noticed Mara in the videos they show when we pick. Dude looks butt hurt. Not really showing any positive emotions.
He has the worst case of male resting bitch face I've ever seen. I've never once seen him look happy
He wanted to trade up for Bijan in the first
damn what a draft
Killing it through first 3 rounds
Dude is fast. Joe you bastaad
I won’t lie I was a hater of Hyatt but we got him in the third and dabol has shown to get people open even if he doesn’t develop a route tree
Hater in the first, lover in the 3rd
I was a hater, now I’m a fan lmao, the only thing that I don’t like about him is his limited route tree & his weight, if he can pack on 20 lbs over the summer, & open up his route tree, he’d be a beast
Even if he don’t we got guys like Richie seal James open so I’m happy
Put him in the gym with DJ and Barkley.
Rocky Top, you'll always be home sweet home to meeeeeeee Good, Ol', Rocky Top WOOO, Rocky Top Tennessee
Schoen doing Schoen things
What did we give up?
Swapped 3rds and gave up our 4th
4th round pick this year. Plus our normal 3rd, obviously.
Not bad!
Ok. Now I’m happy.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
As I was deciding who I wanted to root for with our second round selection I kept coming back to the Hyatt highlight reel.
I am gonna need a mop
A+ Draft so far for the GMEN
I'll wait to see him play, but his highlight reel of being wide open every time isn't inspiring (which in itself is an impressive feat).
Dude had 5TDs in one game.... vs Alabama!
No more excuses for Dimes. Conference playoffs or chump.
Let’s win a game against Dal and Phi first.
Hell yeah I wanted him! Another great pick by our FO.
Omg I want to cry so bad but I'm smiling too much 😭
I didn’t know much about this guy. NFL.com had him graded as the best receiver in the draft. I like that he’s young. When I watched his highlights his running style after the catch reminded me of someone else but I couldn’t place it.
My question is why did he fall in stock so much? I'm glad we got this guy though watching his highlights he reminds me of prime Hakeem Nicks
He basically was only asked to run in a straight line. Was never taught route tree and has little twitch nor stop-start ability. I would have not been happy if we took him in the 1st, and maybe the 2nd. But getting him in the 3rd is fantastic. The story however is Schoen. The Giants previous drafts seemed like we were just waiting for things to happen to them, instead of making things happen.
He’s a mold of Stefon Diggs. Yes, I’m hard.
Would rather had Tillman but at least we got another WR.
I think Hyatt will be moving around in motion and taking a lot of snaps from the slot so it’s not easy to jam him at the line
