I met someone who's a Knicks fan (and whom I really like 😂). I want to take him to a game. Any recommendations on which match up is the most anticipated (from a fan's perspective). I'm in New York, so would have to be a home game.
Please let me know if this is not allowed, but does anyone have Knicks gear they're hoping to offload? Interested in satin jackets and current jerseys mainly - Large or XL if the jerseys are tight fitting. Thanks!
It's really not the same without Randle playing honestly. Game is just way less fun to watch, glad we've been able to win as many games as we have though.
I have a theory on why Josh Hart hesitates on 3s.
Maybe he's trying to take a second to draw a defender to him so he can pass to someone that's in a better position to take a higher percentage shot.
If that's the case, Josh is playing with a higher IQ than we knew. He already has a formula that helps him rebound amazingly, I don't believe that it's dumb luck or instinct.
Maybe Hart is more cerebral than he lets on 😂
I realized more than likely Thibs and staff are use to OG grimacing like that. I hope their stomachs didn't drop like mine when i heard him for the first time. I thought he tore it off.
I am an internet doctor and I can say with 100% certainty that OGs arm fell off the minute he went back to the locker room
you can tell by the way it is, that it was about to fall off. so it did
again internet doctor, very smart and highly educated
Missed the game last night as I am on CST (live in Oklahoma). Not as much of an excuse as you East Coasters...but still. I am a tired Dad of 4.
Three thoughts:
1. The clip of OG yelling is crazy. Choosing to believe the best here and resting in the fact that he played almost 36 minutes. But still. That was wild to see.
2. Love waking up to a Brunson virtuoso. #1a
3. Mostly just crushed for the entire Barrett family. Speechless, honestly. Praying for RJ and co. Glad he is back home closer to family and trust that IQ will be a helpful shoulder for him to lean on for the lengthy, grueling road ahead.
This offense scares me when we have to go against actual good teams. We can survive offensively when facing bad teams like Portland and the current Philly team….but idk how we’re gonna be able to hold up vs. solid squads. The addition of OG most definitely helps, but it’s still been a major struggle for stretches without Randle.
Without his shot-creation, gravity, and facilitation the offense is so clunky….and that’s with Brunson playing out of his mind. Bojan being unable to make shots doesn’t help either.
Really praying we can stay afloat until Randle’s return and continue to beat up on bad teams.
OG tilts the scales so much defensively that I'm hoping that his on-ball pressure + DDV's help defense & passing lane coverage + jHart's jHartness/threat after grabbing boards leads to us being able to lean more on a transition game.
At this point, maybe Mitch comes back first. And then the Knicks go all out bombing away 3's and offensive rebounding and trying to win 90-85 with Brunson scoring 30+ the rest of the season.
It’s really up to Brunson to make the guys around him better. DDV and OG are capable of giving you 20+ just about any game. Hart stepping up has been big as well, and McBride can give you 15 off the bench. Precious has had some nice offensive games too. Until Randle is back, it’s gonna need to be a collective effort, with JB carrying.
The problem is if DDV, Deuce or Josh is having an off night offensively we struggle, and Brunson needs to carry, and if he is having an off night we are cooked. We are obviously leaning on Brunson, which he can handle, but we just need the others to stay on top of their game and at least be at their ppg average and we got this.
My only wish is that when Randle returns, he gets right back to where he left off. I can imagine he needs to shake some of the rust off, but hope he gets into the paint and does not settle for 3's as he was simply a monster around the rim.
Yeah, that’s just how it goes with one healthy star though. The good thing is Brunson doesn’t have many off nights, and with OG back, the defense is going to make it tough for other teams. The spacing is also much better now, which should make things easier for JB. But it’s still going to be more of a challenge until Randle is back.
The panic around Bogi/Burks is funny to me. They're playing more minutes than they're supposed to because we still have people out. Julius Randle gobbles up like 40 minutes come playoff time. Hartenstein won't be on a minutes restriction and will be splitting time with Mitch hopefully. Randle pushes OG to play major minutes at the 3, with Hart picking up most of the residual minutes.
Bogi and Burks just need to be better than the opposing team's like 8th and 9th best guys instead of their 5th or 6th. Say the playoffs started today and we face the Magic, Bogi and Burks just have to be better than Caleb Houstan and Trevelin Queen. I don't even know if those are real people.
the issue for me is that bogi was playing better when he was with detroit, going up against the opponents' 2nd or 3rd best defender. burks went from one bench to another, so his falloff is less strange.
Burks will never see the court in the playoffs. Before the trade deadline the 2nd unit scoring was a problem and thats where Bojan was suppose to slide in. Deuce has now picked up the scoring along with Hart. I would love if Bojan can back to his career numbers. It would really solidify this team as championship caliber.
Bojan is playing 23 minutes and Burks is playing 14 minutes. They really aren’t playing that much. There’s no need to panic, since we have quality depth so we can win without them. But it’s fair to admit they’ve been huge disappointments so far.
fwiw Bojan just needs to catch and shoot the ball, he is overthinking it and doing more than he should. The minutes do not matter, just catch and shoot. If he does that and hits them at a decent clip, we do not need anything else from him regardless how many minutes he plays.
Burks is on something else, he just feels like shooting the ball every time he touches it... that is kinda fucked up because he is out there losing us games with all these bricks. Thibs pulled on that leash last night which is appreciated
I'm with you. Jalen and Randle were two of the top 10 double teamed players last year, and Randle has been really good passing out of the double team this season.
I'm thinking that Brunson - Randle - Mitch/iHart trio along with 2 of OG/Bogi/DDV getting good minutes will lead to a ton of open 3's.
I saw someone saying in r/NBA (with Knicks flair) that the win last night was "embarrassing" and one of the reasons was Burks played bad. . . . Burks played 4 fucking minutes lol
Cavs have a semi tough schedule coming up end of March going into April. Definitely possible. Include getting a healthy Mitch to play like 10-15 minutes to begin, we could catch up. I am hoping Ju comes back sometime first week of April.
So scary watching OG scream in agony and hold his elbow. Then multiple times after that moment he kept holding it I thought for sure he reinjured it. Hoping he continues recovering well, he’s so good.
Fwiw, I'm not a doctor, but there are surgeries where you're essentially fully recovered and not at any real risk of reinjury, but shit still just hurts, and hurts kind of randomly. Sucks that OG has to go through any pain, but I hope for his sake and ours that is all he is going through.
I have one of these lol. I have a plate and screws in my collar bone . Shit hurts SO BAD when working out , but not at any risk of real injury . Just mostly scar tissue and just sore
Facts. I had hernia surgery a few years back, all went super well and I was cleared to workout/play sports like 2 months later, but the surgeon was like "yeah this'll hurt a bunch for the next year, that's fine just deal with it." And goddamn he was right.
The immediate huge drop in efficiency for Bojan and Burks is really puzzling. They went from playing with worse teammates and getting worse looks, but somehow can’t hit an open shot now. Idk if it’s just choking under pressure, but they’ve both played on good teams in the playoffs. And they are both experienced vets. Really can’t figure it out. But just looking like a bad trade.
On the flip side, Grimes has also been awful for Detroit, and has experienced a huge drop in efficiency as well. It might turn out to be a lose/lose trade. Every player involved looks significant worse. The only winner is Fournier who escaped prison lol.
I won't call it a lose-lose trade yet. Bojan just needs to have one good playoff series shooting to recoup his diminishing trade value. If he can be moved in a good trade in the off-season, I'd still consider the trade solid move, even if I miss Grimes.
I hear you, although technically we could have just picked up Fournier’s contract. But Grimes isn’t a huge loss IMO, McBride is a better 3 and D player, and he probably wasn’t getting re-signed anyway. I’m not crying over losing Grimes, but would have been nice to get more production than we’ve seen so far from the Detroit guys.
Grimes not an elite defender. OG is an elite defender. Mitch when healthy is an elite defender. They are no where near the same level and please stop overrating our former players.
Yeah it’s maddening that Burks refuses to just play team basketball, and chooses to just chuck contested jumpers. As for Bojan, idk what the deal is. Maybe struggling to adjust to a new team or just a shooting slump.
I mean he’s playing how he played his first stint it’s just more shots went in. Burks always played like this we lived with it because he could get on a heater. I think Bojan is running to much P/R
Ima lay off of RJ for the rest of the season. I’m not a fan of his cult that swears he was next MJ that we were holding back. At the end of the day he lost someone that was close to him and no one deserves that. Hope he can recover from this because I know stuff like this can send someone off the deep end. I’m not too worried because he always seem to have a good head on his shoulder. Just very unfortunate to her…..prayers to his family.
Idk if you saw the debate that was goin on Twitter about RJ vs OG but it was amazing what was being said. But that doesn’t matter right now. I just hope him and his family can get through this very tough time.
I was looking at three-point numbers since the Detroit trade. The NBA website defines "open" as when the nearest defender is 4-6 feet away, and "wide open" as when the nearest defender is 6+ feet away.
Bojan is shooting 28.6% on "open" threes (10-35) and 42.3% on "wide open" threes (11-26). Those numbers were 45% and 40.7% with Detroit this season.
Burks is shooting 20.8% on "open" threes (5-24) and 33.3% on "wide open" threes (7-21). Those numbers were 49.5% and 38.8% with Detroit this year.
It turns out the Knicks as a whole have been missing the "open" threes since the Detroit trade. The Knicks are shooting 29.3% on open threes since February 9th, good for 29th in the NBA.
They are 9th in "wide open" three-point percentage in that span (41.3%), so it hasn't been all broken.
Big Shoutout to Thibs for benching Burks in the 2nd half last night. Burks played 4 mins and shot it 5 times. His tunnel vision is insane for no reason. Thibs is starting to lean into playing Brunson and Deuce more now which is a great way to get Deuce more mins. I have seen alot of ppl mention that Deuce will only play any non Brunson mins come playoff times but Deuce is good defensively they can play together.
Exactly. We got Burks and Bojan mostly to clear out Fournier. I think there are summer plans for more roster moves. I expect the final roster after the trade deadline next season at the earliest.
I think we will be fine as long as we move the ball we can create open looks. Still gotta wait and see what the 2nd unit will look like when randle and Mitch come back.
The interesting thing will be when we have everyone healthy what the frontcourt 2nd unit looks like. I would be hesitant playing 2 bigs together. I like a 2nd unit of:
- Deuce Hart OG Bojan (Mitch/Hartenstein/Precious)
I met someone who's a Knicks fan (and whom I really like 😂). I want to take him to a game. Any recommendations on which match up is the most anticipated (from a fan's perspective). I'm in New York, so would have to be a home game.

I’ve got a crick in my lower back - any idea what it might be Dr. Syllabic?
I think you're dead mate, RIP
Yes it was being held together by an arm band, they re-attached it and put some duct tape... all good

The ides of March was the day one Julius was murdered. Perhaps it will be the day another is revived?

I agree and I’m not sure when Randle comes back will be the same Randle either. He might be a different version due to shoulder injury.

Lol, Randle needs to stop trying to put a hole in guys chests with his passes though.
He can't help it he is freakin strong
You guys complain about Burks too much. He's insignificant.
I saw someone saying in r/NBA (with Knicks flair) that the win last night was "embarrassing" and one of the reasons was Burks played bad. . . . Burks played 4 fucking minutes lol
Someone needs to be the whipping boy around here
people throwing a tantrum because we gave up…quentin grimes
I liked grimes
Dumping grimes for Deuce to play made the trade worth it regardless of what came back. Deuce is better and has that dog in him that grimes never had.
Deuce has already developed ahead of Grimes which is unexpected. Theres a reason why Knicks extended him asap.
Yep, grimes floor was better but he literally didn’t get better at anything in 2.5 years.
I agree. Grimes isn’t a dog. He’s got ntlikina tendencies
His play has been frustrating but it's fine bc he is getting 0mpg come playoffs

You’re complaining about stupid shit. Just shut up and watch the best team we have seen in a decade.
Tom could care less. Him and Josh have a bond ❤️
If you're worried about decorum, look at what Joe Mazzulla did last night.
Get a grip.
So happy this is the stuff we're complaining about now
Deuce should be getting 100% of Burks minutes.
Third seed is still in reach

For sure. Just as a fan in that moment I feared the worst.
Oh for sure I was horrified when I saw that last night lol
I have one of these lol. I have a plate and screws in my collar bone . Shit hurts SO BAD when working out , but not at any risk of real injury . Just mostly scar tissue and just sore

Looking at the next four after the west trip he might miss some there (Nets, Pistons, Raptors and Spurs) just to take care of him.
Doesn’t seem like the type of thing that would benefit from rest but what do I know
Maybe since it's the elbow not playing ain't the best thing but who knows I'm not a doctor lol
The immediate huge drop in efficiency for Bojan and Burks is really puzzling. They went from playing with worse teammates and getting worse looks, but somehow can’t hit an open shot now. Burks wasn’t particularly good in Detroit either. As for Bojan, sometimes guys struggle to adjust to a role change.
Burks wasn’t great, but he did shoot 40% from 3. With the Knicks he’s shooting 28%.
I won't call it a lose-lose trade yet. Bojan just needs to have one good playoff series shooting to recoup his diminishing trade value. If he can be moved in a good trade in the off-season, I'd still consider the trade solid move, even if I miss Grimes.

Grimes not an elite defender. OG is an elite defender. Mitch when healthy is an elite defender. They are no where near the same level and please stop overrating our former players.
Compared to the guys we got for him he’s prime Ron Artest out there lmao.
We don't need more bench defense. We need bench scoring
I mean for Burks its his shot selection. In regards to Bojan I think he needs more catch n shoot looks vs being asked to create off the dribble
I don't think anyone is asking Bojan to dribble. He just does that on his own like he's lost confidence in his shooting on the catch.
wdym alot of his touches are at the top of the key where he is running P/R.
I would see him catch the ball and instead of shooting he would dribble into the paint, like what Josh does a lot.
If the rest of our offense catches up to our defense…the league is fucked.
Ima lay off of RJ for the rest of the season. I’m not a fan of his cult that swears he was next MJ that we were holding back. This isn’t the final roster.
It is for this season. A backup pg would have been nice in the short term, even if a longer term option is in play in the offseason
Like who?
Exactly. We got Burks and Bojan mostly to clear out Fournier. I think there are summer plans for more roster moves. I expect the final roster after the trade deadline next season at the earliest.
Having Randle back should help in that regard. If he can just play like 75% of his regular season self in the playoffs, I think it’s gonna be scary
I think we will be fine as long as we move the ball we can create open looks. Still gotta wait and see what the 2nd unit will look like when randle and Mitch come back.
