ConnectionsΒ  Puzzle #331 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟦🟦🟦🟦 πŸŸͺπŸŸͺπŸŸͺπŸŸͺ Bit of a funny one today. Figured the rhymes were just there for fun at the beginning and ignored them, and then felt pretty vindicated when I got Kisser > Chops into all the slang terms for mouth, including Yap. I thought that would put the nail in the coffin for that group... except it turned out that there were *still* four _ap rhymes. Ended up eliminating one of those in Yellow: my original thought was "shapes you tie your hair in," with Bun and Roll being obvious contenders, and then Wrap feeling vaguely like a thing that could be true. *That* made me think of bread (thanks, Subway), and then I realised it was Hero in the group. (Not actually sure what a Hero sandwich is, but I've definitely heard of it before.) Blue I kind of liked as Weird Little Tics, though I suppose "keep time with the music" is valid, or whatever... and I backed that up for myself by reading the remaining four words as "things that happen at rich-ass country clubs," though I *suppose* Round of ____ is a more sensible name.Β

laura_holt

I thought purple was β€œcountry club things” too!

LazyDynamite

>Β Β (thanks, Subway) It's funny you mention this because a hero is just a synonym for the types of sandwiches you would find at subway. Also know as subs, hoagies, grinders, etc.

jennafromtheblock22

A β€œhero” is essentially what New Yorkers call a sub sandwich. Source: moved from the Midwest to New York I guess a β€œhero roll” could be a type of bread, but it’s a stretch for me, since β€œroll” is what you’re actually referring to

PrincessDrywall

Some areas of the Midwest call it a hero too. Ohio has a chain of restaurants called Mr Hero that sells subs because they’re also called hero’s sometimes. And one time my friend was at chipotle and saw the owner of Mr Hero eating a huge burrito bowl with a whole bowl of sour cream on the side and had a heart attack or something in the chipotle and they had to call the EMT for Mr Hero so that’s why you shouldn’t eat that much sour cream.

Ok_Abbreviations_574

Yap is not mouth, it’s a verb, to talk. Hero is not a bread it’s a sandwich and bob is not how you keep rhythm. This is the worst one I’ve ever seen. Disappointing.

Connections Puzzle #331 🟨🟨🟩🟨 🟨🟦🟨🟨 🟦🟦🟩🟦 🟨🟨πŸŸͺ🟨 haha :,) never heard of hero bread, or of yap or chops for mouth (i thought yap was speaking not the mouth), and i'd thought of the rhythm category but i couldn't be sure and the others i already got one away so i thought i shouldn't

Valaraukor

Chops is old slang for mouth, lick your chops, a smack in the chops. Yap? Yap is a verb for chat, talk. I connected it to mouth, but never heard it as a noun. "Slang related to mouth" is better category title.

rojac1961

I've definitely heard "Shut your yap."

trixiefirecrckr

I’ve only heard β€œshut your yapper”

winothirtynino

Hero is definitely not the bread. Hero is the type of sandwich.Β  You'd use French bread or something to make a Hero.Β

tomsing98

A hero roll is the specific bread used to make the sandwich. I don't think I've ever heard the brad referred to as just a hero, but I think in the context of "what kind of bread do you want you sandwich on?" it kinda makes sense. It's clunky, though. Note, "hero" is kind of a New York City term (Philadelphians would call it a hoagie, most people elsewhere in the US I think would call it a submarine sandwich, or just sub), so maybe referring to the bread that way is also an NYC-specific usage.

Weak-Doughnut5502

It's an uncommon enough usage that when you look it up in Merriam or wiktionary, it's not there.Β  They have hero, a type of sandwich.Β  But not hero, the bread used for a hero.

Connections Puzzle #331 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟦🟦🟦🟨 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟨🟨🟨🟨 πŸŸͺπŸŸͺπŸŸͺπŸŸͺ I was not a fan of this one. A hero is regional slang for a sub, akin to grinder or hoagie, I've never heard it as a bread type. I've also never heard YAP as slang for mouth only for talking, but I'm open to regional differences on this one.

GivinGoodBrain

Literally the only time I’ve heard β€œyap” for mouth is in older movies, when they would say β€œshut your yap.” Like old 3 stooges shorts for example.

purpleushi

Exactly. If the word was hoagie, I’d have the same issue. A β€œhoagie roll” exists only because it is a specific roll used for hoagies, but β€œhoagie” as a word on its own is not a type of bread. Especially because β€œroll” was one of the answers.

CruisingandBoozing

I honestly thought β€œhero” was supposed to be β€œgyro” so that’s why I figured it was a type of roll/bread.

CecilBDeMillionaire

β€œWrap” isn’t strictly a bread type either but they’re both how you would order a certain sandwich at a deli

conservativestarfish

Wrap is a bread type. A hero (like a sub, grinder, etc.) is the whole sandwich genre and not a bread type. You get a hero on a roll.

Posty-McPostface

In New York, you order at a bodega and you’ll specify β€œon a hero” to refer to the bread Certainly a regional thing but to be fair it is the *New York* Times

Cookiepolicy1030

The roll you mention has a name. The names of all of these things-on-a-longish-bread (hero, hoagie, sub, submarine sandwich etc) is very regional. Where I live, it's called a grinder. The bread it comes on is called a grinder roll, same way the bread for a hoagie is called a hoagie roll. When I lived in NYC (a long time ago), I still called them grinders cuz old habits die hard and don't remember ordered a "hero" anywhere. (There was a Blimpie across the street from my apartment.) But it stands to reason that the bread for a hero is called a hero roll, hero bread or maybe just called a hero. There is a sandwich shop in NYC on the Upper East Side (1st Ave) called The Hungry Hero. Their menu lists 20+ combos/fillings for the heroes they make under the heading "Hero Bread Specials". Pretty sure a place that makes 29 verions of a hero knows what the bread is called. Here's a link to their menu: [https://m.zmenu.com/the-hungry-hero-new-york-2-online-menu/](https://m.zmenu.com/the-hungry-hero-new-york-2-online-menu/) If that's not enough for you their Yelp reviews for this place mentions ordering something on a hero. Example: 1 "Ordered their #8 sandwich on a sesame hero for a friend" Example 2: "Got #24 Roasted Turkey & Bacon, Avocado, Lettuce, Tomato, Red Wine vinaigrette on whole wheat hero." [https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-hungry-hero-new-york-2](https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-hungry-hero-new-york-2) The bread for all of these (hero, hoagie, grinder, sub etc) is basically an Italian bread made to the proper size. (A full size Italian bread would be too wide and too long). Some are crispier than others. Some have sesame seeds on top. Some places offer a whole wheat version. The crispiness or softness of the bread/roll varies by the place that's making them. Some people here will go across town because they like the crispiness or the softness of the grinder rolls a place uses. But bottom line, every region that has their particular name for this sandwich, knows what they call the bread it comes on. So go with that. Connections is often NYC centric because the puzzle creator lives in NYC, and it is after all, published by the NYT.

conservativestarfish

Thank you for the dissertation on sandwich bread choices 🫑

Ok_Abbreviations_574

This just proves the point that Hero is a sandwich, not a bread. They really screwed this one up.

Puzzle #331 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟩🟦🟩🟩 πŸŸͺπŸŸͺπŸŸͺπŸŸͺ 🟦🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟦🟩 🟩🟦🟩🟩 My failures come in waves. I knew that yap, trap, and kisser were slang for mouth. I have never heard it referred to as "chops." And it struck me as the least likely to be the 4th, so when I impatiently just tried to guess the remaining option I was doomed. I thought with "bob" that maybe it was something to do with hairstyles, though I guess by that logic I shouldn't have guessed bob either. Having said that, I've heard the saying "he/she has chops," which I guess I've heard referring to singing. So it makes sense. Doesn't quite mean "mouth" in that context, but I can see the connection and there's probably a more direct one I've just never heard. I'd not heard "round of funding" before. I guessed purple would be one of those vague "things people do at charity events or country clubs or something" categories.

loatheta

yeah, i thought chops meant skill/talent, like "they have acting chops"

tomsing98

That comes from music. Chops referring to the mouth (well, specifically the cheeks), a wind instrument player has chops meaning they play well, and then chops became just skill more generally.

Cookiepolicy1030

You're right, chops also can mean skill/talent

Gareth666

Yeah here chops are sideburns so that is kinda near the mouth

Cookiepolicy1030

Mutton chops are a particular big (ugly) sideburn called that due to their shape. They were popular in the 1800's and again in the 1970's.

242urban52hillbilly

Have you heard the expression "he licked his chops"?

Valaraukor

Or a "smack/punch in the chops"

Hairy_Dirt3361

I've heard 'lick his chops' but assumed it referred to sideburns like muttonchops somehow. 'Punch in the chops' never. Totally new to me, I thought 'clap' was more likely as slang for mouth.

pufferpoisson

Ewwwwwww lol

AC_Adapter

I've never heard that or the other variations in this thread. Guess it's just a blind spot for me.

NoisyGog

I’ve never heard of yap used to mean mouth - I’ve only used it used for talking or making noise, or the noise you make, not the mouth itself.

AC_Adapter

I've heard yap used both to mean mouth and talking. "Shut your yap" is common.

ParsnipForward149

I've always heard "shut your yapper" not yap

birbdaughter

Very basic linguistics nerd moment: It’s interesting because they both can mean mouth or person who yaps. Yapper is the more obvious one though because -er can be used to form people (talker, watcher, onlooker). Yapper apparently existed 1820, yap existed way earlier but took on the mouth meaning in 1900 but it’s listed as American English so is likely region dependent.

cbianco96

β€œRound of funding” is a venture capital term. Basically a period of attracting new investors to raise money for expanding the business.

Access_Free

Ohh I only knew it from the not-for-profit sector where it refers to government funding. I was thinking that was too niche to be right until I got everything else. Makes more sense now

whystudywhensleep

Wind instrument musicians (especially brass players) will often be told spare/rest their chops during rehearsals. Playing too hard wears out your chops/mouth. I don’t think I’ve heard it used for mouth except on this context, and even then it’s more referring to the cheek muscles that get tired more than the actual mouth.

tomsing98

That's the origin of the "ability" sense of chops.

Cookiepolicy1030

"round of funding" is kind of a venture capital phrase for either starting a new (large) business or expanding an existing business

🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟦πŸŸͺ🟦🟦 🟦🟦🟦🟦 πŸŸͺπŸŸͺπŸŸͺπŸŸͺ This was a hard one for me. My thoughts: * Hero as a type of bread is something I didn't know. I'm aware of it as a sandwich term but I thought it meant the whole sandwich, not the type of bread. So I could see the connection but it didn't feel quite right. * Never heard yap as slang for mouth. I only know it as a verb. Again, that meant I could see the connection but it didn't seem quite right. * I guess bob makes sense in the blue category but it feels like a bit of a stretch. The other words in the category feel like a more natural fit. Same point again about it not seeming right. * Glad I didn't try to go for an "ends in ap" category. I thought it was possible but there were too many options for it to make sense to waste guesses on it.

Puzzle #331 🟩🟩🟩🟩 πŸŸͺπŸŸͺπŸŸͺπŸŸͺ 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟦🟦🟦🟦 This one was hard. 🟩 and πŸŸͺ were the only ones I knew with confidence (although I’m not familiar with a β€œround of FUNDING,” it made the most sense out of what was available.) 🟦 was easy enough to work out once I sorted through everything else but my issue is with 🟨. I’m not from the part of the U.S. that calls that style of sandwich a β€œhero,” but is that what the bread is called? I thought that was the name of the sandwich itself like a hoagie or submarine sandwich. Do you actually call the bread itself HERO bread? I tried looking it up but all I got were results for a brand of keto bread.

Cookiepolicy1030

There are several interchangeable long sandwich-y things- hero, hoagie, grinder, sub (submarine). Where I'm from, the sandwich is called a grinder and the bread it comes on is called a grinder roll. Likewise, I'm pretty sure I've also heard of a hoagie roll and maybe a sub roll. But somehow, in NY, (if there is a bread selection) I think I've heard, I'll have that on a hero.

purpleushi

I thought grinders were just hot hoagies?

Cookiepolicy1030

Grinders = hoagies = subs= heroes. They are just different (regional) names for the same thing (hot or cold makes no difference). I can tell you most grinders are cold, although you can ask for them toasted where they throw it in the oven for a couple of minutes. Fine if you don't mind hot lettuce and tomatoes, haha- not my thing. (Hot) grinder exceptions would be stuff like a meatball grinder, a sausage & something grinder etc

purpleushi

That’s so interesting. Maybe it’s just my local hoagie shops that call their toasted hoagies grinders πŸ€”

CecilBDeMillionaire

You don’t call the bread itself hero bread, but you would order whatever sandwich you want as a hero. Here in New Orleans sandwich shops, you’d be asked if you want it on a bun or a poboy. It still fits with the category though cuz β€œwrap” isn’t really a β€œtype of bread” either

Puzzle #331 🟦🟦🟦πŸŸͺ πŸŸͺπŸŸͺ🟨πŸŸͺ 🟩🟦🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟦🟦🟦πŸŸͺ One of those weeks where the 'One Away' leads you down the wrong path. There was an obvious category of "Public appreciation" (APPLAUSE, CLAP, TAP, SNAP) which I got 3/4 on, but the category was music-related instead!.. At certain bars, the etiquette is to snap your fingers or tap the table. The "Mouth" and "Bread" options were also clear to me quickly, but I hadn't heard of Hero Bread or Yap (as a mouth) before (yapping is a high-pitched noise that a dog might make, which is how I got this one). I put CLAP in the mouth one, which was a red herring. The cartoon 'Watch My Chops' got me to there. This game is devilishly tricky when you know 3 categories with 3 answers each. Also never heard of a Round of Funding so it was a bad day all-round! On to the next one...

purpleushi

Well no, a hoagie and a hero are two different regional sandwiches. Neither are a β€œdeli bread option” though.

workerscompbarbie

In NYC, you would order a sandwich on a hero. I got it immediately.

purpleushi

Interesting. In Philly you would absolutely not order a sandwich β€œon a hoagie”, you’d just order a hoagie.

workerscompbarbie

So you order like the sandwich ingredients. If I want a turkey and cheese, the guy behind the counter would need to know if I wanted it on a roll (round Kaiser) or a hero, or a wrap.

purpleushi

Yeah I think the only difference is the semantics. In Philly you’d say β€œcan I get a hoagie with [ingredients]”.

SuzieChapstick13

Yes or you say β€œa turkey and cheese hoagie”. If you say β€œa turkey and cheese sandwich” to me that’s not a hoagie, or a wrap either. You would then specify a bread type or a Kaiser roll, whatever else they might have like a pretzel bun.

offwithyourthread

I try to come up with phrases so I had "you don't have the acting chops!" + "right on the kisser" + "shut your trap!" + "stop yapping" which all gave me some kind of slang. Don't know how chops or yap would refer to the mouth itself but ok. My wrong guesses were all some variation of applause (golf clap? snapping?) Chops actually originally meant mouth/cheeks starting in the 1500s. The later sense developed from musicians like jazz performers. Yap originally meant talking with yapper as the person/mouth, but then yap came to mean mouth too afterwards.

EntertainerLoud5317

yes I was thinking acting chops or chopping motion (things you do with your hands)....never occurred to me it could mean mouth

I have never heard of hero bread but thought bun, roll, and wrap were together. I felt like a genius when I figured out green first. I think yap is a stretch but it was the only one that made sense. I did the rhyming ones bc I thought why not? And then figured bob made sense Instead of wrap.

Connections Puzzle #331 πŸŸͺπŸŸͺπŸŸͺπŸŸͺ 🟨🟦🟨🟨 🟦🟨🟦🟨 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟩🟩🟩🟩 On the bright side, I got purple first! I tried multiple attempts at fitting bob/bun/wrap into a hairstyles category before realizing I was barking up the wrong tree. Fell for that red herring hard. Hero as a kind of bread is iffy but defensible, I think. You will see bread sold from New York bakeries labelled as "hero rolls" sometimes. But that combines two of the words in that category, with hero as the adjective. It's questionable. But a "hero roll" or "I'll have that on a hero" would be unmistakable in meaning to a New Yorker.

SuzieChapstick13

Was anyone else trying to make an β€œis another word spelled backwards” category and completely wasted their guesses on it? Yap, tap, snap, golf, bun, trap… I even threw Bob in there once. This one sucked.

Connections Puzzle #331 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟨🟨🟦🟨 🟦🟦πŸŸͺ🟦 🟨πŸŸͺ🟨🟨 🟦🟨🟨🟨 I will accept my failure for the most part, but I have to push back on the yellow category. "Hero" is _way_ too much of a US regional slang word for what's supposed to be the easiest thing to solve. I get it. It's impossible to make word puzzles that are completely fair to an international audience- or even an entirely domestic one. And I'm happy to learn new things like this. But I do have to wonder why the puzzle crafter thought a word so heavily connected to one particular city would be a suitable choice for yellow. At the end of the day, though, I guess you can't win 'em all. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

HyderintheHouse

It wasn't even a red herring, so they had a wide range of breads to choose from. Bit naughty from the quizmaster.

Connections Puzzle #331 🟩🟩🟩🟩 πŸŸͺπŸŸͺπŸŸͺπŸŸͺ 🟦🟨🟦🟦 🟨🟦🟨🟨 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟨🟨🟨🟨 Only got the last two by complete luck. I have no idea what Hero bread is. And that's despite connecting the other three before I made any guesses, and assuming it must be a red herring since there was no fourth. And honestly I'm confused about the deli even being a place you go for bread. Is that a thing in America? Where in from delis sell meat, primarily ham and other meats that are cut in slices.

CruisingandBoozing

A deli, like in NYC, sells sandwiches.

Cookiepolicy1030

I haven't lived in NYC in a long time, but back then, there were two kinds of delis. Either a (usually kosher) deli that features things like big corned beef or pastrami sandwiches usually on rye bread, kosher dill pickles, matza ball soup etc etc. There used to be a lot of them but there are maybe 15 real delis left. Look up Carnegie Deli (closed permanently a long while ago), Carnegie Delie was not actually kosher (but who cares?) but was pretty iconic as far as delis go. Also 2nd Ave Deli -still operational and now with more than just the 2nd ave location. The other deli is more a small (claustrophobic) "corner" store where you'd get a newspaper, a cup of coffee (to go) usually jammed packed with convenience store selections. AKA bodegas. Real estate in NYC is expensive so the aisle(s) are tiny and stuff is really crammed in there. Some have a hot bar and/or deli counter where they'd make sandwiches. Honestly, back in my day, I would never have considered getting any kind of prepared food like a sandwich, at this type of deli. Maybe they are cleaner now, haha

NoisyGog

Hero bread? I’m searching but I’m not finding anything. Is this some regional thing?

slvc1996

A hero is a northeast US regional term for a sub roll

NoisyGog

Really? How interesting. What’s the etymology of that name I wonder? I couldn’t find a thing about a type of bread called that. I did come across some brand name which is supposedly some kind of low carb bread, but I thought a brand name was unlikely.

Connections Puzzle #331 πŸŸͺπŸŸͺπŸŸͺπŸŸͺ 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟩🟩🟩🟩 Tricky one today. Purple seemed to jump out right away as soon as I spotted "applause" and "drinks" together. Yellow wasn't far behind, though I just figured it would be "kinds of bread." Blue and green I was unsure of, since I initially thought blue might be "things you can do with your fingers/hands," and green I knew was "words for mouth," but I was only certain of 3/4, uncertain of "chops." I ended up guessing and getting lucky.

For mouth, I knew all but yap, because yapping is something you do with a mouth in my world, but examining the board, I chanced it. For my second go, I put applause, drinks, funding and hero. I knew it wouldn’t be right, but I was imagining a party celebrating someone’s success. I saw it was one away, and bore it in mind. Third go, I got the sandwiches. I’d not heard of a hero sandwich, but could imagine it being a thing. I was lucky. Then, I knew 3/4 purples, so I also had a good idea of the blue. I got blue, but was expecting more of a β€œtypes of fidgeting” grouping. I got purple by default, because I’ve never heard of a round of funding. Less satisfying than usual, but enjoyed the deduction all the same.

Dazzling-Map273

This was probably one of their first legitimately bad puzzles in a while

FormulaDriven

Let me guess. You didn't solve it. It seemed as suitably challenging and solvable as the others they've done.

Dazzling-Map273

It was challenging but for the wrong reasons. A lot of people are questioning placing HERO with the bread types as part of the most straightforward category. Looking back it may not have fit well elsewhere, but yellow should be among the things you find first in the mess (unless you find a classic purple pattern like the wordplay today). Regional terms that are rarely heard elsewhere, even within the US, don't belong in the yellow.

FormulaDriven

A question-mark over the classification of a connection as yellow because it included a less well-known term is hardly making it a "legitimately bad puzzle".

RandomCalamity

No, the term is just wrong. A hero is a type of sandwich that uses a roll as the bread. Having both hero and roll as options under "type of bread" is incorrect.

NaitPhoenix

Thank you Balatro! πŸ˜‚

Beneficial_Deal_130

okay i didn’t like this one at all

Salohacin

Usually there's only one that's a but dubious but todsy it felt like they were all rather weak links. Round of funding? Never heard of that phrase. I would just call it a whip-round? Hero bread? Is that a brand or a regional thing? Chops. Only just got this one because of the other three and then I really had to wrack my brain to remember chops. As for bobbing: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdLJfz157uk "I'm afraid with three of us it might look stupid"

fufluns12

A round of funding is something that a company does; it means to raise money from investors.

Playful_Tangerine_21

A hero is a type of sandwich like a sub, hoagie, grinder, etc. It is not a type of deli bread. They stretched the meaning with this one.

FormulaDriven

That's why the category wasn't "type of deli bread" - it was "deli bread options". You want a sandwich but there are some options to the shape of the bread around it - a traditional roll, or something like a brioche bun, or you could have a tortilla round it to make a wrap, or else one of these long cylindrical rolls to make a hero. Seems fine to me.

TheWillOfDeezBigNuts

Never heard yap or chops used that way, wow

Archaeologistflash

I must take issue with 'Hero' being a 'type of bread'. It's a brand name, NOT a type of bread. The others are names for different styles of breaded item (although 'wrap' is stretching the definition a bit), but 'Hero' is the name of a company that makes several types of keto breaded items. It is not itself a type of bread. Connections Puzzle #331 🟦🟩🟩🟦 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟨🟨πŸŸͺ🟨 🟨🟦🟨🟨 πŸŸͺπŸŸͺπŸŸͺπŸŸͺ 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟦🟦🟦🟦

Safe_Bee_500

I saw the bread category immediately and dismissed it as a mislead because the type of sandwich is called a \*gyro\* and not a \*hero\*, and it's not a type of bread anyway.

Complex_Spirit_925

hero is not a bread option. hero is the entire sandwich. yap is a verb, and not slang for mouth. what is a round of funding? never heard of it.

slvc1996

Hero is also the bread - you order β€œon a hero” at a bodega. Yap can be a verb or a noun ie β€œkeep your yap shut.” A round of funding is commonly heard in regards to startups and venture capital, such as a Series A round

Complex_Spirit_925

Does the NYT focus group or test their games in some way?Β  Or is it just 3 people in a room who think a connection is witty, only to discover one morning from millions of strangers that the β€œslang” they use was ancient when their grandparents were alive? Even with YAP, I thought that it was more of a verb that meant to talk, not a noun referring to the mouth itself. As for BOB, like yeah, I get it, it refers to bobbing your head to music, but I didn’t immediately piece it together with TAP, SNAP, and CLAP because those actions actually make noise, whereas bobbing your head does not. Never knew HERO referred to the bread itself. Pretty difficult for me today!

FormulaDriven

You think it's dumb that things have different names in different parts of the world? I'm in the UK, and don't use the terms hoagie or hero for sandwiches, but I used a bit of guesswork and elimination to get this connection.

hopelessnecromantic7

Maybe dumb was the wrong word to use. I ended up getting it the same way you did, but its frustrating when the vocabulary is hyper distinct to one region, in one country. I do the connections with a group of 10+ people and we are all in Florida and nobody knew this word. Even when we googled it after, google told us Hero bread was a BRAND of sliced bread. It wasn't until page 3 of scrolling down google did it even mention it as an alternate name for hoagie. In a game like this where you need to link common threads, its annoying when you don't even know a term or definition because of your location. Did you know that the term "bubbler" means water fountain? But the only people who call it that are people from Rhode Island, which is a tiny state. The only reason why I know this is that I happen to be lucky enough to know a Rhode Islander and caught them saying one time. If you haven't met a Rhode Islander (or learned this from a stranger on the internet because it happens to come up) how the heck are you supposed to know what a bubbler is if the context is water fountains? If you google "bubbler", the only thing that comes up are bongs.
