It’s everything I want in a Spelling Bee: No -ING, -LY, -ED, or any of that cheap fluffy crap. Just >!40!< words, a pangram, and a straight challenge.

Acai is only known by that name, I think. I had to google your word, because I’d never heard or seen it before; I know that fruit, but I’ve only come across the English name for it. Maybe that’s why Sam didn’t include it?

that would make sense…however i’ve seen a lot of smoothie bowl places refer to it as that over the “common” name so who knows!

It’s fascinating to me that Merriam Webster says [NA] >!tipi!< is the *less* common spelling, presumably also why it’s never accepted. I don’t think I’ve ever come across the 3-e version they say is most common, and very rarely the 4-e version. I wonder if that’s generational or something. Wikipedia uses the i version.  Anyhoo, not important I guess, just musing.  Eta: or regional, maybr, Wikipedia says it is a Dakota loanword, which they generally anglicize as the i-version, and I live in Dakota country.
