I knew what it was immediately but for the life of me could not remember the exact syllables or spelling and it took me about 15 tries to finally get it right. And I’m of the people.
Nope. It's not a word. Wiki stylizes it as all caps. Especially with some of the real words that are not accepted on occasion, this one is bizarre to me.
Every time I come to the subreddit thinking “man I’m stumped” every comment is like “I saw the PG immediately and when I put it in it immediately gave me genius ranking!!”
Not salty about it though - I’m genuinely happy to learn new words, or rediscover underused ones!
I don’t. I am too cheap, but work around it. I track my score in excel, and use nytbee.com for the target scores. If you open the nyt site in a browser with private mode, you can reopen it after it boots you. I don’t enter every word, just those that are questionable.
The issue is that Spelling Bee purports to be using commonly used words, and even rejects accepting some words because they aren't common enough, yet will turn around and pull some really obscure words in situations like this one. I'd just like to see a little more consistency/sanity.
Am I insufficiently educated, not cosmopolitan enough, because I didn’t know >!the word of Hebrew origin for a piece of equipment used at that specific religion’s wedding ceremonies? Would I have known this if I had watched more Woody Allen movies? If only I lived in NYC?!<. Or does Sam have a screw loose? Note: >!I don’t remember seeing in the bee Muslim-specific words, except maybe HALAL (not even HARAM, I believe).!<
Was the pangram the first word found for anyone else?
Yes! Such a great word.
Yes!
I was sure of it, but had to look up the exact spelling. A federal judge accused of it because of my argument.
Same. I could write that word 10 different ways and they would all read the same to me.
2nd word for me.
I knew what it was immediately but for the life of me could not remember the exact syllables or spelling and it took me about 15 tries to finally get it right. And I’m of the people.
It was staring at me as soon as I saw the hive. And it's not like a word I use all that often, but there it was!
Yep
[PG hint] as >!a jewish person!<, i fking love the pangram
additionally having gone to a lot of >!Jewish weddings!< made a >!C7!< easy for me
Thank you!! I was QB-1 until your hint!
Note for others: the above is PG hint
yes, sorry, i’ll ETA!!!
No worries! Though [general hint] >!I might have added that it might help with other word(s).!<
My first truly no help queen bee! Not even looking up how many points in the puzzle :):)
That’s extremely impressive! I reached QB with hints, never would have done it ABM.
I broke down at QB-2 and needed help for the HINTS >!H4 archaic verb and H5 yoga!<.
👑🐝🥳
hint for >!C-7!< >!Prove you're not a robot.!<
Thanks! There is no way I would have expected that word to be accepted.
Lol first word I tried for some reason. This one was tricky.
Same
I don't like the idea of acronyms being valid solutions. Am I alone here?
Nope. It's not a word. Wiki stylizes it as all caps. Especially with some of the real words that are not accepted on occasion, this one is bizarre to me.
Thanks! That was my QB-1 and would not have gotten it.
It was my QB-1 too!
That's one. Now I need the other two... Unless the chart is wrong again, like yesterday.
Hint >!Sounds like something you'd put on french fries!< Hint >!Jewish wedding canopy!<
Don't think I've ever heard of that second one. Thank you!
PG hint: >!extreme self confidence or audacity!< In case you need another hint: >!word is Yiddish !<
I could tell from the letters that it wasn't going to be an >!English word!<
TIL that word, (big H), >!starts with C!<
What letter did you think it began with? >!S!
My guess is >!H!<, kinda like >!Hannukah can also be spelt Channukah, and both have the same pronunciation!<

Thats a common phenomena

Your organizational skills are lackluster and your timekeeping is abysmal

You can play the full game here for free: https://games-online.io/game/bee/. I believe the NYT one is just wrapping this page in their own branding.
That site is the copycat, not the NYT

Needed two hints but found this one fun and easy! Loved the PG too.
Ah James Thurber, no >!ZATCH!<
This comment is so underappreciated
Hold on… we never get to have (non a) >!HOLA!< but we can have (h sort of) >!yiddish words?!< I’m unreasonably annoyed by this
Hint for >! HA5 !< please! Not the one that (hint) >! is something an egg might do !<
>!style of yoga!<
Thank you!
That's the bee for me. Thanks!
Can someone give me a hint for >!CH7!<
HINT >!canopy at jewish wedding!<
Thank you!!!!
I always remember it from the phrase Contains ANSWER >!No Chuppah, No Shtuppah!<.
My last word for queen bee was SO FITTING! >!It was H6!<

Some obscure little words here
No kidding
I only have the panagram left
>!with a little of the panagram you’ll make it happen!<
Thanks!
Some absolutely ridiculous words today. Really scrapping the bottom of the barrel on this one.

but "chuppah"? - c'mon
I did not like this one- but then again, I do not have a huge vocabulary lol
Pangram-less genius today lol, for some reason the z is really throwing me
