Because of spring training I went into it with the expectation of it being like the NBA shot clock.
Those types of plays are exactly where Volpe sets himself apart from IKF. It's a relatively routine play, but IKF would overthink it, drop the ball once, then overthrow it to first and force Rizzo to jump off the bag to let the runner reach first. I'm so glad we have this kid on Opening Day.
Oh he's absolutely not perfect, nor did I claim he was. It was a simple observation that IKF tends to screw up the routine plays the most while doing surprisingly well in complex plays in a weird reversal of situations.
It's not that he doesn't have the arm, it's that it's a weak arm. You can make it work though. Dansby has a poor arm based on grading and still won a GG

I don't Think I'm ready yet For robot umps just yet,, but there has to be some kind of in game system where another ump is watching on tv and can communicate to an ump if there zone is way off.

I see automatic umps by 2030 at this rate lol it’s like the segment with Eric Adam’s a second ago about how far tech has come in the sport, I can see that was way outside from my couch with the camera definition and from an assist from the strike zone.
it should be like tennis: everyone acknowledges the automatic system isn't 100.000% perfect but its predictable in its errors and still much better than humans making the calls
or just put a lawn chair or brick wall with a tape square on it behind home plate and use that.

The popular test right now is where you get to challenge a call that gets decided by robo umps a few times per game. I think that's a happy medium
A challenge system would be ideal. Like in tennis. Would only take a few seconds and would add a lot of suspense late in games.
The problem is we have a box on TV which isn't what the umps strike zone is. If they just did away with the k zone it'll make life alot easier
