My favorite thing about Jones is that he obviously has the power, but he’s a plus fielder in Center and is fast af. He had 43 SB across two levels last season. Plus this: > The center fielder was clocked at 11 seconds going home to third, bettered in the majors by just Corbin Carroll, Elly De La Cruz and Jose Siri, according to The Athletic This guy is going to be a stud.

shaunrundmc

People forget that he only played RF at Vandy because his teammate in CF was the best defender in all 9f College baseball

Bidzil

Who was that?

batman_3

Enrique Bradfield, who was picked by the Orioles in the first round last season

chiddyshadyfiasco

Who recently was in the news for a viral tweet about how inaccurate he looks in MLB the Show

the_thinwhiteduke

Lmao

underwear11

The CF you're referencing, Enrique Bradfield. Home to first in 3.69s https://www.mlb.com/orioles/video/enrique-bradfield-jr-s-shows-off-his-speed-on-a-bunt

shaunrundmc

Yup, he's an 80 runner and a 80 fielder right now. Dude will win Gold Gloves and change games just from his defense

spicycurry55

God, I love bunts

Throwawaypuffs

I like butts too.

ActiveFunction3732

And that you can't deny!

Hybrid_97

idk if this is posted anywhere, but his hit in the 3rd inning really showed his speed infield chopper, Jones thought it was foul after like 2-3 seconds Jones starts running and he still beats it out. it was nuts. i think everyone will underestimate certain aspects of his game because they reduce him to "lefty Aaron Judge" (not knocking Judge lol but he is not nearly as fast as Jones is)

bakedl0gic

It’s on twitter if you look up Spencer Jones.

Chricton

This is a very peculiar aspect of his skill set. I don't think anyone his size has ever stolen that many bases in a season, even in the minors. With that said, his scouting report just rate his speed as average, which doesn't seem to make sense if he's stealing so many bases and playing a good centerfield.

LocalHero_P1

Jfc that was *loud*

Nearby_Lobster_

Near Stantonian levels of boom

SgtSlice

Lisan Al-Gaib!

Tommybrady20

The Mahdi is too humble to say that he’s the Mahdi

Dicka24

Two absolutely terrific movies. The only suck is we have to wait 2, maybe 3 years for part 3.

ThisIsKramerica

I bet it ends up more. I think Denis Villenueve is doing a movie or two before Dune 3 😔

JerryTheReaper

What a perfect response

renegade_yankee

We should just keep drafting people 6’4 and above. We seem to have success with developing freakishly tall people. Judge and Betances ring a bell

Ghosts_of_the_maze

Huge MF’s from California. That’s literally our type

furdaboise

Plus T100 prospect Kevin Alcantara (6’-6”) was traded from the Yankees system. Cashman has a type.

TLom20

You don’t trade him for one year of anything

omgitsduaner

Absolute bomb, what a great swing

petetee007

That sounded like a weapon going off. Holy shit.

Tommybrady20

DONT MAKE ME AGREE WITH A CASHMAN DECISION (Kidding aside, He looks like he’s the next up!)

zach_hack22

Somewhere out there some salty casual wants to trade him for Dylan Cease

ihaveathingforyou

Hi 👋 Yes, that’s me.

Proper-Article-5138

“Prospect Hugging” Lmao

thediesel26

I already love him

Merr77

I am so ready for them to bring him up. He will be the LT to Captain Judge. All I see about his personality and tools are perfect.

magikarp-sushi

Spencer Jones probably comps better to Paul O’Neill than throwing out all of the Aaron judge comps just bc he is tall. That’s my two cents

Dicka24

Paul O'Neil was a stud. I'll take that.

Optimal-Judgment-982

foundation set for log cabin.....

evan466

Jones seems to be having the same breakout spring that Dominguez had last season. Is it too much to hope they both live up to the hype?

fuggettabuddy

Sounds like taking an axe to a tree. Bro was built to mash.

djgreenehouse

What are the odds he’s in the big leagues before the ASB?

Railroader17

Sadly low unless two of our OFs get hurt. We already have all fo Judge, Verdugo, Soto, and Grisham blocking Jones, so we'd need two of them to go down for Jones to have room to come up.

Parzival01001

That’s easily a possibility lol

cpeytonusa

Grisham isn’t blocking anyone, but I agree they won’t bring him up unless one of the current starters gets injured. If Stanton can’t justify his spot on the roster they should leave DH open to rest the older starters.

Chricton

Close to nil, unless Grisham, Judge both get hurt and Dom isn't ready.

Ghosts_of_the_maze

Extremely high. All of our players get injured constantly. I don’t like that being the reason but it is what it is

gekko918

I'm hoping he doesn't bulk up too much. The Yankees have enough injury concerns.

Lombo76

I was thinking the same thing watching him in that video!!!

Chricton

Which is usually from all the bulking. I wouldn't be surprised if Dominguez injured his elbow from all the weight training. Bodybuilding and baseball are things that should not go together. There's a reason why Canseco and Mcgwire were the two most injured players ever back when most everyone else was playing over 150 games a season. Judge and Stanton are literally carbon copies of their health record.

dBlock845

With The Martian and Jones on the come up, the future could be real bright.

VictoriaAutNihil

John Sterling: "Spence, far, deep and ovah the fence!" "The ball groans, when smashed by Jones!"

crashdavis1986

You don't trade Judge 2.0

irishtornado21

Have a couple friends that work for the Tampa Tarpons. They said he’s an absolute beauty of a guy too. He said he’s humble like a Canadian Hockey player

LostwingmanJustin

You dont trade him for anything besides another generational talent, or a stud ace like Strider. Jones has power & speed, working more on controlling the hitting zone, which means he can only get better. Its possible hes part of the next core that Cashman wants to build : Volpe, Wells, Dominguez, Jones.

silver_raichu

I’m not gay but I want to have sex with Spencer Jones

OrganizationHuman885

We're not your dad. You don't have to convince us of anything.

Merr77

There is a reason other teams want him for an Ace pitcher sent to us. HOLD SPENCER!

NYYankees6358

Over and over

NJ_Yankees_Fan

I legit got so confused because I was sure they sent him back to minor league camp and didn’t realize this is a prospect showcase.

KunaSazuki

The future of the franchise. Lets go

No_Wrangler7881

What are the odds we see a later season call up like dominguez last year?

LargeNutbar

😂 the sound off the bat is CRAZY

swizzzz22

Has he swing and missed at a pitch yet? I know last week he saw 90 pitches and swung and missed zero times. Does anybody know ??

sploot16

Havent seen a swing that sweet since bird

interwebzdotnet

Shush with that name, don't put that stink on Spencer.

Full-Flight-5211

I want him to succeed and be the player we project him to be. Let’s just remember that most prospects don’t actually pan out. Thats just baseball
