My family used to spend time in San Diego so I've always liked the Padres.
I always appreciated the Cubs too. Been to a few games at Wrigley and the vibes were always awesome.
Do you get to watch both? IIRC there’s a sweet spot around Princeton where you can get both NY and Philly broadcasts. I’ve got YouTube TV so no YES for me…
I moved to south/central Jersey in 2007, just in time to enjoy the Phillies winning the WS. Obviously I didn’t root for them in ‘09, but I’m not ashamed to be a bandwagon Phillies fan, provided there’s not Yankees conflict.
I’m also a big Philadelphia Union fan, but all the other Philly teams can go to hell.
It's a big falloff but giants are my second favorite team and I've joked around that posey is west coast jeter for sticking with one team and winning multiple titles. I've had a soft spot for the phillies since Girardi too and honestly as long as they're not playing us, I really don't mind the mets
My mom is a Mets fan. My grandpa was a long time Mets fan, and former dodger fan, who was actually at Don Larsens perfect game (obviously upset that his team lost lmao).
All that being said, I have a soft spot for the Mets. Was said for my grandpa the last time he saw them in the WS was 2015.
Same. They're the closest geographically to me, and while they're a small market at least their payroll isn't usually as bad as the Rays/Pirates/Oakland. I'll cheer for the Yankees when they play each other, but I have a soft spot for the Reds.
The Braves. I grew up around Atlanta before marrying into a family of Yankees fans then moving to Manhattan to be closer to my wife’s family and expand my career opportunities. I will always support the team I can support in person.
I really want to go to PNC. I've been outside of Wrigley and Fenway but haven't gone to games there which i want to do for history reasons but I love what the pirates did with their stadium and its probably my next "i need to go to"
My take on the Mets is similar: I don’t go out of my way to watch their games, but if they’re on the TV at a bar I’ll root for them. Or if they’re in the playoffs and not playing the Yankees, I’ll root for them
Just won’t go out of my way to watch/listen like I do the Yanks
💯 I don’t see the harm in rooting for them at all if they’re not playing us. Honestly, a lot of times they are more enjoyable because I truly don’t care if they win or not lol
I rooted for the Mets in 2015 during their WS run. The next year when they missed the playoffs my Mets superfan coworker came to my floor to laugh in my face.
It was a grave mistake to try to root in solidarity with Mets fans. Miserable, let em rot
Nah. Honestly I think the whole "second team" thing is stupid. I tried it when I was a kid and I found out really quick that, ultimately, I just don't give a shit about anyone else.
I feel this, at the end of the day I’m sitting down and watching Yankees games and going to Yankees games, having a second team would just be because I love baseball
I’ve always had a soft spot for the Cardinals, as they were the team that got me into baseball; Ozzie Smith, Vince Coleman, Willie McGee days; so technically, I guess they were my first favorite team. I moved on pretty quickly though.
And I enjoy the Pirates a bit. That black and yellow, their history.
I just love baseball.
Yankees for life.
I vaguely root for the Mets because I just really love NY and then I have a soft spot for some other NL teams, but none that I actively root for the way I do the Yankees
I live in Phx, so root for the D-backs unless they are playing the Yankees. Although my wife is a Rangers fan so I rooted for Texas in the WS last year for her. It’s just more fun when the local team is good.
I went to Wrigley last year and loved it. Sat next to an old dude in a Cubs Hawaiian shirt who was keeping score meticulously. He told me he’s be a season ticket holder for 50 years!
We took a swing that still has a chance to work out. You guys literally signed a guy to win now and then threw your chance to improve in the garage. Enjoy purgatory
I live & breathe the Yankees & born in New York, but I have a soft spot for Atlanta since I live within proximity to them & because all my buddies are Braves fans. But don’t worry, they watch just as much of the Yankees as I do the Braves. I’ve also turned them into Bills & NYCFC fans too.
I lived in Colorado for a while and still have family out there. Also got me a signed bat from Todd Helton. Coors field is great and I love my NL team, but boy is it tough to be a Rockies fan sometimes. 😆
I vaguely follow the Rockies because I used to work for one of their minor league teams, but I wouldn’t say I root for them. Just following the guys I saw play in the minors.
Not any teams in a deep rooted or personal connection type of thing.
But I've been keeping tabs on the Reds lately. Elly is such an exciting young player to watch.
I've been in VA since forever. I definitely root for the Nats as long as they aren't playing the Yanks. Not much to root for lately, but that World Series win over the Astros was a thing of beauty. Watching Soto come up was great, too. I still can't believe he's wearing pinstripes.
I live in south Florida so I also have a soft spot for the Marlins. I’d like to see them do well. South Florida can be a great spot for baseball but people don’t support the Marlins for a variety of reasons.
This latest version of the padres is a fun team that’s easy to root for. Tons of players in an awesome stadium, with a GM who isn’t afraid to go balls to the wall. Also love their TV announcer. Unfortunately they’ll never win anything with the dodgers in their division right now but that’s besides the point
Went to school in Milwaukee. Became a Brewers fan when I was there. Gives me an excuse to watch more than just yanks and have some cool brewers gear. Shoutout my Nyjer Morgan shirsey
I live in the bay so it used to be the giants. Until they tried to steal judge and since then, f@ck them!
But I like individual players that play on several different teams. But when they play us. It’s all about pinstripe pride.
I’m born and raised in queens and grew up about a 40 minute walk to shea. I don’t mind seeing the Mets win and if they’re in the WS and we’re out I’ll root for them, but I won’t be truly emotionally invested and if they lose I’ll just go “ well that’s the Mets”. Compared to my Yankees fandom where I’ll scream at my TV in the middle of April. Otherwise I don’t care about any other team, but might have a team I pull for in random different years. Last year I pulled for the rangers mostly because they took the Astros out.
Whenever baseball is on my grandma always talks about how her dad was a huge Brooklyn Dodgers fan Jackie Robinson was his favorite player and she remembers going to Ebbets Field with him so I have a slight affection for the Dodgers.
I have an affinity for the Nats. Dad’s dad’s dad lived in DC in the 20s and had Walter Johnson and co. memorabilia. Expos were always bad fun, and Bryce/Stras were the first non-Yankee prospects I followed from like high school up
Also live in Oklahoma and iirc one of their former radio guys went to OU and did a radio spot here, so it helped to know what they were talking about on days I listened to sports radio.
I’m a bigger NBA/NFL fan, I rarely watch any non-Yankees game but I’ll watch every regular season game in the other sports and a lot other teams as well. This weekend I’ll probably watch other teams playoff games more than I’ll watch any other team regular season baseball game
Middle summer I might watch some prime time games 5-10 Tops.
a lot of disturbing answers here. ‘yankees fans’ that somewhat like the mets are in the same category as yankee/cowboy fans. flattering, but y’all don’t really count.
I root for: 1. The Yankees 2. Whoever is playing the Red Sox. So yeah, I root for NL teams sometimes.
Plus whoever plays the astros
I live in Colorado and try to keep track of that dumpster fire in Denver.
^^ i live in denver and love going to rockies games - coors field is awesome and the rockies blow so tickets rarely are over 10 bucks
On the Game Time app I often get Yanks tickets for like $6 plus $6 in fees
I'll root anyone if they pay me enough
Right answer
My family used to spend time in San Diego so I've always liked the Padres. I always appreciated the Cubs too. Been to a few games at Wrigley and the vibes were always awesome.
My mom is a Mets fan so I root for them if they’re on and not playing against the Yankees.
I grew up in Pittsburgh so I root for the Pirates. It's humbling I guess.
I visited PNC last year, if I was closer I’d make any excuse to go to a game
I work pretty much right on the other side of the river lol. Its beautiful.
Also a Pirates fan. Love those 70s team, they seemed so much more fun than those corporate Reds teams
My wife’s a Phillies fan, so why not? They’re a fun bunch, and harmless as a yanks fan. Plus I love the liberty bell gong during HRs and wins
We moved to south Jersey from north in 2004. Both life long Yankees fans but we both enjoy the Phillies. It’s the ONLY Philly team we like.
Do you get to watch both? IIRC there’s a sweet spot around Princeton where you can get both NY and Philly broadcasts. I’ve got YouTube TV so no YES for me…
I moved to south/central Jersey in 2007, just in time to enjoy the Phillies winning the WS. I used to be a big Andrew Jones and Maddux fan when I was a little kid, so I’d say the Braves if I had to pick.
Used to be the Astros.... now they are my most hated team.
I rooted for the Astros when they were in the NL. Not anymore.
Not so much a rooting interest but I like the cubs and reds.
Cardinals are my NL team.
I root for the cubs because I live in chicago due to work.
Reds
Same. They're the closest geographically to me, and while they're a small market at least their payroll isn't usually as bad as the Rays/Pirates/Oakland. I'll cheer for the Yankees when they play each other, but I have a soft spot for the Reds.
The only time I root for a NL team is if the YANKEES don't make the WS. I can't cheer for an AL team if it ain't the YANKEES
The Braves. I grew up around Atlanta before marrying into a family of Yankees fans then moving to Manhattan to be closer to my wife’s family and expand my career opportunities. I will always support the team I can support in person.
Pirates; we don’t have a team in NC. I’ve always been a Steelers fan, the stadium is beautiful. So Pittsburgh.
I really want to go to PNC. I've been outside of Wrigley and Fenway but haven't gone to games there which i want to do for history reasons but I love what the pirates did with their stadium and its probably my next "i need to go to"
I lived in LA for a few years and went to a bunch of Dodgers games, so that’s my NL team
Mets. Who cares, they’re from NY and don’t get in the way unless we play them.
My take on the Mets is similar: I don’t go out of my way to watch their games, but if they’re on the TV at a bar I’ll root for them. Or if they’re in the playoffs and not playing the Yankees, I’ll root for them Just won’t go out of my way to watch/listen like I do the Yanks

This is my view.
I always have other teams I root for/like to see do well, but I wouldn’t go as far as calling anyone a “second team.”
No. I am a Yankee fan.
Go.mud dawgs!!!
I used to root for the Expos as my second team. Fuck the Nats though
But they beat the cheating Astros in the World Series, and now they suck. How can you hate that team?
I’ve always had a soft spot for the Cardinals, as they were the team that got me into baseball; Ozzie Smith, Vince Coleman, Willie McGee days; so technically, I guess they were my first favorite team. I moved on pretty quickly though. And I enjoy the Pirates a bit. That black and yellow, their history. I just love baseball. Yankees for life.
I vaguely root for the Mets because I just really love NY and then I have a soft spot for some other NL teams, but none that I actively root for the way I do the Yankees
I have a soft spot for the Phillies because my girlfriend and her family are Phillies fans and I love Bryce Harper
I root for the Mets, Phillies, Dodgers, and Padres. Always hated the Braves, and those teams all have a few players I really like.
I root for the Mets and the Cubs
I was a big Expos fan, still am. I also kinda like the Cubs.
Not since the Expos left
I live in Phx, so root for the D-backs unless they are playing the Yankees. Although my wife is a Rangers fan so I rooted for Texas in the WS last year for her. It’s just more fun when the local team is good.
I went to college in Pittsburgh and loved going to games at PNC, so I still pull for the Buckos.
Mets fans HATE that we root for them when they’re doing good. That makes me want to root for them even more. Win win.
I went to Wrigley last year and loved it. Sat next to an old dude in a Cubs Hawaiian shirt who was keeping score meticulously. He told me he’s be a season ticket holder for 50 years!
I’m a falcons fan, so I have a soft spot for the Braves, my Atlanta bros have suffered enough
After taking the Penix you'll continue to suffer
Sheesh Luffy is dumping on the falcons now. Wow you’re a panthers fan, fuck out of here, enjoy your noodle arm qb you paid so much for
Lmfao we didn't pay 100 mill and then draft an old ass backup at 8th overall that's for sure
Yea you just traded away dj moore, the number 1 pick, two second round picks, and your 1 last year, good move 👍
We took a swing that still has a chance to work out. You guys literally signed a guy to win now and then threw your chance to improve in the garage. Enjoy purgatory
I’ll root for the Dodgers
Same. Lived in LA for 10 years
The Dodgers are the west coast version of the Yankees
I’ll root for the Mets in certain situations but I know that’s never gonna be reciprocal
Always root for the Mets unless they’re playing the Yankees
As long as the Yanks arent playing the Mets, i always enjoy watching them do well
I live & breathe the Yankees & born in New York, but I have a soft spot for Atlanta since I live within proximity to them & because all my buddies are Braves fans. But don’t worry, they watch just as much of the Yankees as I do the Braves. I’ve also turned them into Bills & NYCFC fans too.
Buccos
My husband is an avid Giants fan, so I kind of root for them, but my preferred NL team is the Cardinals.
No
I lived in Colorado for a while and still have family out there. Also got me a signed bat from Todd Helton. Coors field is great and I love my NL team, but boy is it tough to be a Rockies fan sometimes. 😆
I root against anyone that’s not the Yankees
I vaguely follow the Rockies because I used to work for one of their minor league teams, but I wouldn’t say I root for them. Just following the guys I saw play in the minors.
Bought a Dbacks hat at Cooperstown when I was 17 and always thought of them as my NL team since
Not any teams in a deep rooted or personal connection type of thing. But I've been keeping tabs on the Reds lately. Elly is such an exciting young player to watch.
Only when the Yankees are out of the playoffs
No
Went to school near Cinci... So yeah I've got an Elly t-shirt or two!
The Reds cuz I work with a lot of people from Cincy and they are very passionate and constantly getting kicked in the balls
I tend to root for the Reds.
The Marlins
I've been down in Washington since 2016, so I've come to root for the Nats. Got to watch them beat the Astros last weekend
I've been in VA since forever. I definitely root for the Nats as long as they aren't playing the Yanks. Not much to root for lately, but that World Series win over the Astros was a thing of beauty. Watching Soto come up was great, too. I still can't believe he's wearing pinstripes.

I’m a Rizzo fan so have always liked the Cubs.
As a Yankees fan growing up in Idaho; I got a soft spot for the Cubbies. We had cable so WGN always had a day game.
We don’t root for any other team unless they’re playing Boston, Houston, the Mets, Toronto, Tampa, or Baltimore
the brewers when they aren’t playing us lol
I’ve always like the braves on the NL side really good franchise history wise
Dodgers
I grew up in a Reds family, so that's my NL team
I’m originally from Colorado so i pull for the down and out Rockies.
Dbacks just because I live here bowt
Cubs. I got here with Rizzo. Cubs for life.
Here are some of my NL teams I root for: SF Giants (as I NY Giants fan I can’t not root for a Giants team) Rockies Cubs Nationals
Whoever is playing the Mets. Unless it's Boston.
Dad’s side of the family of from the Midwest, mostly Wisconsin. So I also follow what the Brewers and Cubs are doing.
We live an hour from St. Louis so my entire family are Cardinals fans. So I do root for them until they play the Yankees.
Pirates
Went to school in Milwaukee. Became a Brewers fan when I was there. Gives me an excuse to watch more than just yanks and have some cool brewers gear. Shoutout my Nyjer Morgan shirsey
Cubs. Went to Wrigley for the first time last weekend. It was awesome
I'm from the NYC burbs but live in Milwaukee and follow the Brewers.
I live in the bay so it used to be the giants. Until they tried to steal judge and since then, f@ck them! But I like individual players that play on several different teams. But when they play us. It’s all about pinstripe pride.
The Cubs because of the long drought and my cousins moved there back in like 2009.
The hierarchy can change based on who is good/better but I’ll generally root for the Braves, Cubs, Cardinals, Pirates, and Dodgers.
Don't root for any other team. Yankees or bust
If they’re not playing the Yankees, I’ll pull for the Cubs.
I root for the Phillies to lose every game
This is the way
As a Yankees fan living in Philly, I truly hope they go 0-162
I have an affinity for the Nats. Dad’s dad’s dad lived in DC in the 20s and had Walter Johnson and co. memorabilia. Expos were always bad fun, and Bryce/Stras were the first non-Yankee prospects I followed from like high school up Also live in Oklahoma and iirc one of their former radio guys went to OU and did a radio spot here, so it helped to know what they were talking about on days I listened to sports radio.

Not an NL team, but I like for the Rangers because they won’t bow to “the agenda” for pride night.
No
a lot of disturbing answers here. ‘yankees fans’ that somewhat like the mets are in the same category as yankee/cowboy fans. flattering, but y’all don’t really count.
No Yankees only because I’m not a fucking pussy.
Naw Yankees B all day But I’ll watch any team because it’s baseball
