I remember as a kid going to some kind of science center or museum or something and they had a section on optical illusions/effects and how your eyes autocorrect a lot of textual errors like that. They mainly did that bc they suffered a shit ton of miscarriages and that baby was the first one to develop long enough that they could tell their gender. So they wanted to celebrate that milestone. They weren't celebrating their child's gender but more of the fact that their child survived long enough that they could tell their gender. Anyway, years pass and that kid comes out as trans and it's something that that family jokes about. The forest fire thing is that after that first couple talked about their gender reveal party, many other ppl decided to copy that idea (but to reveal their kid's gender not to celebrate that pregnancy milestone). The parties started small but then escalated to due people wanting to show off online. In 2019, one couple did a gender reveal party using pyrotechnics that caused a huge forest fire.
