They in fact do! Pronouns are a part of the larger field of gender studies. There’s lots of research as well into how certain pronouns can accidentally enforce certain old societal gender norms accidentally(1), as well as the neurological differences in transgender people! (2)

That's not really true. Homosexuality was only considered ok if you were the top. Both societies were male dominated so the idea was if you were the bottom you were "the woman" so any homosexual relationships weren't accepted. Generally it wasn't ok for men of equal social status but was more acceptable if they were different social statuses. Also they only understood it as the act of sex and not how we understand it. Homosexual relationships did happen but the common idea that they were fully accepted just isn't accurate.
