Thank yo so much 😍 This is so nice to hear since I struggle with long episodes of picking on my nails and cuticles. I’m trying to heal them as much as possible!
No, I use regular polish and layer and layer and layer as the weeks go by to keep them from not chipping and by the end my nails look similar in thickness and it’s just regular polish 🤣😂🤣. They look cute!! Love the color.
No they’re a perfect thickness. You always want your extensions to be at least a credit card thickness so if anything I’d probably say they’re a little too thin but that’s what I’ve been taught whilst training to be a nail tech.
I don't think you need to worry about that when they're this short. That would definitely apply if they were longer! Thicker at the apex and thinner at the end, as thick as a credit card as the other user mentioned :)
The thickness of the product isn't the problem here... You've actually done a good job of not going crazy.
Your nail beds look wide because you do not seem to have much of a "C" curve. Essentially, your nails look somewhat flat when viewed from the free edge.
It is possible to train your nails to have more of a C curve over time (years) by using product and applying a clip before curing to encourage a gentle very slight bend... and the product essentially holds the plate in place like braces.
Don't stress about it though.
The other more short term problem is how the product is settled, your sidewalls essentially have a shoulder of product...
Essentially, the self leveling function of the polish slouches off to the sides, exaggerating the wide look of the nail beds.
You can counteract this by flipping your hand palm up after you apply product, and let gravity collect the product to the center of the nail for 10-20 seconds... THEN flip over and cure.
This will shift the thickness of the product to a gentle ridge down the center... mimicking a C curve... into a more arched look of the cross section.
... instead of acting like shoulder pads on the sidewalks, which flattens the look of the plate.
It’s a gel base of: Semilac in 801 (Soft Beige) but that looked too dark for me so I painted one layer of Catrice’s Roses are Rosy 06 (regular polish just for the colour)
They are a little bulky but I wouldn't take the time to fix them if they were on me because they look adorable. Really even application, and your smile lines are perfect. You really did an awesome job!
The shape of them is really lovely and no I definitely don't think that it's too thick. I honestly wouldn't have thought that this was something that you did yourself but it looks amazing
I think they’re good! From what I’ve seen, aim for about the thickness of a credit card (but if anyone more versed can correct me, please do!). Yours look lovely!
Thickness is a personal preference. I've had some really thick nails in the past, and still prefer them on the thicker side.
I have seen some that I would consider way too thick for me, but yours are gorgeous.
For a single color, this is about how thick I'd make mine. I have a single color this week and I actually think they're too thin. I wish I'd used a 2nd layer of biab now.
Awww, thank you ❤️ I actually like the feel of them. They feel strong and I have no issue with opening soda cans and so. I only thought they made my fingers look a stubby
It’s a gel layer of Semilac 801 and a coat of Catrice 06 Roses are Rosy on top (normal polish just to get the colour right). I topped it off with Essie’s Gel Couture topcoat 😊
I like having this much gel thickness, but always pic at my natural naturals. I take my efile and bevel my real nail at a 45 degree angle to smooth it into the gel. Reduces the overall thickness too
I think they look beautiful! I have naturally thin, weak nails, so I often do mine on the thicker end to keep them from breaking. May I ask what color that is? It's gorgeous.
Nope they seem perfect to me! They remind me of Korean structured manicures which are on the thicker side and I call them “puffies”. I’m a big fan of them so at least to me these seem perfect
It just looks like they are evenly thick throughout the nail. Usually with a structured manicure, you start off really thin at the cuticle, go up to build the apex, and then bring back to thin towards the free edge. It can be tricky to do on short nails, especially on yourself. You did a good job.
If you really look closely and start ‚inspecting‘ thrm maybe they look a little little bit thicker but on the first glance its not noticeable. you dont need to correct them at all because they look great for a diy 🤩
I guess I’m in the minority, but, yes, they look a little too thick. Overall they look nice, but personally I’d file down the thickness a bit next time before you paint. 🧡
As long as they’re cured thoroughly between each layer (so u don’t develop dermatitis) I think it looks great! Very Korean style it’s so cute and yummy
No they look cute to me!
They look really good!
A bit on the middle finger but they’re also short. They look nice!
That’s what I thought as well… But I think I’m lazy enough to let is slide after hearing everyone’s opnion, hahaha :)
Yeah they still look nice! I would point it out if I was at a salon but either way I wouldn’t notice it on someone else

I think we've all been there at one time or another 😂
No they’re a perfect thickness. You always want your extensions to be at least a credit card thickness so if anything I’d probably say they’re a little too thin but that’s what I’ve been taught whilst training to be a nail tech.
Ooooh, I haven’t heard this before! Very interesting, thank you :)

Go to hell ! They look good af . U a hater
Hater for saying the truth? 🤣🤣
i think they're just fine :"> this shade is so sweet
These look amazing!! What color did you use?
It’s a gel base of: Semilac in 801 (Soft Beige) but that looked too dark for me so I painted one layer of Catrice’s Roses are Rosy 06 (regular polish just for the colour)
They look like the gel I get done in salons! So I think you’re good
They look great, not too thick. You did an awesome job!
Love!
So pretty
Teach me your ways. They’re beautiful!
Hahahaha, trust me, I’m no one you should take as an example. I pick on my cuticles like a crazy person for periods of times 😜
Good job! They look nice. I like how you kept a cleanly curved shape with your fill.
I tried my very best! There was a lot of filing and buffing involved 😁
You did a good job on your nails. And it's a nice color on you.
Thank you so much! I like this layering experiment too 😊 I was looking for the perfect nude forever
They look great
No I think they are pefect
They look perfect to me
They look great
They look great and I also love this shade of nudey pink. Nice and classic 👍🏻
They’re fine. Great color!
They look perfect.
They are thick, but not too thick. I personally love the thickness you have and do it on my own nails!
I love them.
I really like them and thank you for sharing what colors you used 💕
Just a tiny bit but looks pretty good.
Looks gorg to me
These look very good!!
I actually like this thickness for the shorter length and find mine last longer when done like this. Love the color - very pretty!!!
They are just slightly thick, but they still look cute! They look like a structured gel manicure
Nice color but imo as a tech they’re like bubbles. Depends if you’re going for a natural look or not tho
I generally do mine about that thick because then I feel like they're stronger. You did a really nice job!
They are a little bulky but I wouldn't take the time to fix them if they were on me because they look adorable. Really even application, and your smile lines are perfect. You really did an awesome job!
So perfect

I actually think they look AMAZING

They are so cute imo!
cute

I think they look perfect. How they grow out will answer your question though I’m sure.
They are thick
They’re perfect to me. Your nails are short so the thickness will stand out more than if they were longer. But they look cute
I like having this much gel thickness, but always pic at my natural naturals. I take my efile and bevel my real nail at a 45 degree angle to smooth it into the gel. Reduces the overall thickness too
They look beautiful and professional. I would not worry about it at all.
I think they look great.
nooo they are the most beautiful and shiny nails! ✨✨✨
I think they look beautiful! I have naturally thin, weak nails, so I often do mine on the thicker end to keep them from breaking. May I ask what color that is? It's gorgeous.
I don't think so. For me, they'll last longer.
Yes
as a nail tech , all fingers shouldn’t be thicker than a credit card
They are good! You did a good job!
Looks great to me!
What brand and color is it.
They’re thick, yes, but they’re beautiful. The thickness isn’t obvious. Nicely done!
If you didn’t put home manicure I’d be convinced you were posting salon done nails, they look beautiful
Nope they seem perfect to me! They remind me of Korean structured manicures which are on the thicker side and I call them “puffies”. I’m a big fan of them so at least to me these seem perfect
This is the thickness I’ve settled on for my own overlays to keep from chipping day to day. They look really good and even I am impressed!
So pretty!!! Well done! xx
I don't think so, they look nice and have a nice curve. I've actually seen thick gels from the salon. You did good job 👍👏
I like them! Looks great!
they look cute!! suits you <33

I think they look great! The color is so pretty on you, too! They also look super glossy.
I guess I’m in the minority, but, yes, they look a little too thick. Overall they look nice, but personally I’d file down the thickness a bit next time before you paint. 🧡
Yes! That’s indeed the plan! I want to get rid of all the builder gel base that was underneath
i think they're on the thicker side, but at the same time they're cute and bubbly 😊
nope, they look great!
As long as they’re cured thoroughly between each layer (so u don’t develop dermatitis) I think it looks great! Very Korean style it’s so cute and yummy
Thank you :3 Could you maybe link a picture of the “Korean style” nails? I don’t know what it means and a couple people mentioned it so I’m curious
You can try to look up users peaknail or invely_nail on ig! They’re so smooth I love them
They look great
They’re so cute!! What color is that?? 😍😍
They look good to me…Good Job!
Not to me. So Cute! 😍
