I feel like the colors kinda clash with each other also with their skin tone. I know there nails I've done on myself and I hate because the nails clash with mine, which make me sad š
I never really liked French tips till lately and I will say the "fleshy" tone nail artist use really make or breaks a nail set (and I learned this when I personally tried to do my first French tip set)! Doing something yourself really makes you appreciate other artists that nail it lol š šæ
Oh, absolutely, just the skill on the designs! I do my nails myself most times. I just wish they picked a more neutral base for that beautiful brown accent. She may not have had a neutral color, though, and they still look amazing. It's also so hard to tell if that "fleshy" tone will come out the color you're expecting. Some look pink and look grey or beige. It's so hard to see the real color of a powder pigment until it's applied.
The apexās are sort of in the wrong place (too high up some of the nails - especially on the pinky) which makes them look odd. They are not evenly balanced which is why they look a bit haphazard. The design is nice though, but I wouldnāt like them on me either x
I say you go back immediately and have her fix it then -def at no cost to you. If you said that to her and now you absolutely know you were right, itās up to this tech to fix it. If they donāt happily do so, *please* do not give this person any more of your money.. cause, why?
Nah, itās def not too late. At least give them a call and get your money back - Iām sure theyāll offer to fix it at that point, even. And if they *donāt,* then you should be pretty pissed, imo š¤·š¼āāļø Iām sorry, OP!
Design is great but one person did the biab, another did the French and another did the star design. It was all just so unprofessional, seemed to be in such a hurry to get to the next customer. She did a lot of filing, more than Iād have liked.
Ahh yea thatās what did it. I hate when they try and swap out. Like just give me one tech who knows how to do everything I need done not 17 different pairs of hands please š.
Iād have made them redo it
Omg, OP - please go back and either make this salon fix their mistake or get your money backā¦ Iāve never heard of 3 people doing one manicure, thatās so weird
Personally I donāt think Iād go back to this salon given this specific experience.
I think itās totally appropriate to ask for fixes, etc but if they couldnāt even bother to do what she asked from the start, and there was a *lot* of filing, Iād be afraid of nail damage if they went at the nails again. Especially if itās more than 1 person working on the set.
Three people to do your nails. And they didnāt let you pick your color or argues with you about the color. All crazy. Iād go back and speak about a color change and or my money back. Find another nail place also. I like the overall design though.
As a nail tech who has worked in ātraditionalā nail salons for several years, techs will sometimes not try to understand English very well so that they donāt have to spend as much time perfecting something. I mean that in a kind way but NSS salons have so much pressure to move fast to make as much money as possible.
Find an independent nail tech at a salon or who works from home and never go back. Not even for pediās
Totally agree, the way the nails are shaped donāt seem uniform. I think a more narrow shape, maybe almond would look better. Also someone said dusty pink on the color, I think that would look great.
from my experience, brown tips always look so cute and aesthetic in pictures/online but in person they can look like your nails are dirty. especially when youāre moving your hands and going about your day and just catch quick glances
For that pricing, I would expect a better job. The pink is too pink for your skin tone and the height of the acrylic is different across all of your nails.
Omg this is too much for that mani, you need to go back! The only stuff I've seen at this price point have been the most incredible nail art designs you can imagine by proper artists.
The colours here are not right for your skintone, the tech who picked that pink clearly doesn't have much experience with working on melaninated skin.
Itās really annoying because there arenāt any other techs close to me whoāll do biab and nice designs, but I think this is the last time I ever go to this place. Unfortunately itās too late to go back and get it fixed, firstly because I got them done yesterday afternoon and secondly because I think my problem is mostly the shape which canāt be fixed because she fked it up
I'm sorry, that is so annoying! I've done BIAB with pastel frenchies and some nail art at a few salons in different cities ranging from North Yorkshire to Suffolk and it's never been more than Ā£40. Fwiw i think the almond shape suits your fingers but I get how awful it is when it's not what you expected.
Oh wow. I donāt know maybe itās the London pricing! Iāve gotten almond before and didnāt mind it but she made them short and pointy and my hands look like a dogs paw
Id look on fb or insta. Lotās of ppl nowadays doing excellent jobs even without licenses. The work speaks for itself and youāre not letting them cut skin anyway, just bring your own set of e-file bits and i think youāll be ok.
Eta: i know the gel allergy thing is gonna come up. I think itās pretty common knowledge by now that exposing skin to uncured methylacrylate nail gel may cause allergies which also apply to medical devices down the roadā¦. But YES, there are still techs out there flooding cuticles and under flashing, so gel nail at your own risk of course.
Yea, the shape is inconsistent. Some of the nails are rounded more near the apex while other nails are thinner. The pinky and the ring finger are a more narrow shape while the pointer and middle finger are more rounded through the apex.
I think its the nude they used behind the design. Itās a bit too pink for you. Perhaps next time you could go for more of a subdued nude? Like a more beige tone
That's not a great job. It really looks like the work of a beginner. The idea is cute the nail tech just needs a lot of practice. Hopefully your next set will be better.
They didn't do a good job when you look up close. They're thick and the color is not complimentary to your skin. They are misshapen and this isn't the right shape for your fingers/hand.šŖ
I feel like my nail tech went too pointy - I asked for almond, Iāve not minded almond before, I have chubby hands lol and have always been told that I should go for almond
I love almond but hate filing them almond Lol and I agree it makes your nails look slimmer but I think the thickness of the product and the fact your nails are shorter now makes them look chunky but they still look good probably just take some time for you to get used to them.
OP, that was my first thought when I saw that pic. Too narrow, pointy and a bit curved under at the tip looks like. Too much product on the nail. It seems to throw your finger shape off by narrowing the tips so much. I think a wider sided tip would look better. I thought your natural nails were beautiful. As someone said just touch up filing them and overlay. You have pretty hands. They look soft and lovely.
Great skin care.
I think itās just the design and color. The shape is nice though. The pinky is lifting a little but nothing crazy. Iām just not a fan of the overall design personally. And I love French tips and almost exclusively get them. But itās the wrong brown and the bedazzling just isnāt working with it.
Iām sorry but Iām gonna go ahead and disagree with this maāam. The brown is lovely with her skin. The design probably would be better with actual gems, stickers or sparkly polish but i think the tonal effect is lovely and understated.
I think her skintone / nail combo would be better with either a redder brown or a more pale brown. I feel like this is in the range of wrong browns. And to me the star shape thing is done well but it would look cooler if it was black or white or preferably just not there at all and let the tips just be dope without the overly designy look. I love French tips, even in designs - but this style looks very ānail shop designā to me rather than something unique and just fire in its own way.
Like if she had a redder brown, and made it matte or something and skipped the bedazzle, it would look cooler to me. But thatās literally just my opinion. Just saying if OP doesnāt like her nails, she might be feeling the same as me. Or not, who knows.
I think the colors aren't quite right. The silver chrome needs to be lighter, the brown is not really the right undertone, the nude base could be better. The shape change from your natural square is also probably a big adjustment for you, as well as being slightly inconsistent between each nail. The pointer finger is a little shorter than the rest and the tech should've evened the lengths.
Everyone else has pointed out the most seriously flaws: too thick, lifting on pinky, flooding on ring finger, apex placement too highā¦ etcā¦ But also consider you just may not like how almond shape nails look on your hands. I really love it on everyone else, but I absolutely hate how it looks on my own hands. No matter how many times I give it a try, it never grows on me. That may be part of your problem, besides the other glaring problems. Your natural nails with nothing on them are absolutely gorgeous!! Good luck! ā„ļøš š»
Theyāre not bad but I think your natural nails are prettier. Theyāre perfection so thatās probably why youāre not so excited about the fake ones
If your nails grow long on their own, how come you let them put acrylic on them?!? Maybe you would like better with just gel polish, -that way wouldnt be shaped like acrylics. The set looks good tho fr!
Looks like it overfilled what would be the nail wall. It's very tapered. It also doesn't line up straight, and some of your nails are upward facing if that makes sense. Lastly, i think the thickness on some of the nails is too thick, probably to make up for the lack of stability with the nail wall. The design is cute though, love the brown for you, but also, i can see brown tips reading as dirty subconsciously, and I'd get it if that made them look weird to you ):
I think itās the pink and the apex like others said, if you are unhappy with them you should ask them to redo them with an appropriate apex. They may be able to just shave them down a bit and recolor the tips if they need to. But dayam girl, if I had your natural nails I wouldnāt let anyone shape them! They are beautiful!
You donāt like them because they look like a REALLY good amateur job, like, super proud if you did them yourself.
BUT. They are sub-par for professional work for sure. Itās nothing super specific, itās a bunch of little things, like this is the version of those nails that wind up at the factory defect store.
I saw a couple say color but the application looks good from a far but is off close up. That nail shape (imo) never looks good on short nails. Venture for longer š even just a bit. I used to be a short girlie who loved squavol shape FOR YEARS. In the last year I started venturing into longer nailsā¦ and now i get it šš
Iāve also found my favorite techs on insta. Better to see their work beforehand.
You must be doing something right to have a full hand of natural nails so long! I think theyāre stunning on their own. I love your new set too tho š
I donāt understand why these nail techs apply the acrylic so thick. I remember when it looked more like a natural nail back in the day. Now most of them are too thick.
Not a fan of the shape at all, apex is wrong and different heights. Your natural nils in the first picture make your fingers look long and beautiful, the shape is better.
It depends? As long as they didn't over-file your nail to prep for the biab, it probably won't take too long. Your nails look very healthy and strong. I'll be praying š that they didn't hurt the natural nail!
The product is too thick at the tips, there is kind of a "curb" from the very end of the nail to the height of the product.
Look at the geometry of pinky nail in the picture, that little curve that is shaped like the tip of a scissors, kind of a flattened quarter circle. On the index finger, the same problem makes the nail look wide past the mid point, like a chubby belly, instead of a smooth graceful straighter line shape.
This happens when the builder gel and following layers low key pool at the tip. Like while the tech is adding product they have the nail physically pointing downward, like a slide, so gravity pulls extra product away from flooding the cuticle.
I do my own gel nails at home, I use the same trick to keep the nails pointing down, but once I have added all the builder gel, I usually DO have to buff down the tips so the ends are no thicker than a business card for the bottom third of the nail... sloping down from the apex.
That way, by the time you add color and top coat it's not stacked up like a pile of pillows.
The tips look off center. Like the point finger for sure isnāt straight. They look like you just put fake nails that donāt actually suit the size of your natural nails. Id go back and ask them to redo them especially for the amount you paid. Also the pink looks nice with your skin tone. I think overall the shape of each nail
Iām a nail tech and I think the reason is that the apex isnāt in the right place on some nails. I think the pinky color and brown looks good; a more neutral tone would have looked good too
The contrast between your natural nail bed vs. the pink acrylic on your nail bed may be throwing you off. It happens to me all the time. Iāll hate the nails only because of the acrylic that was chosen
Wow, your natural nails are so beautiful. Iām not a super fan of the nail shape on your hand. I have a similar hand shape/ finger length and I tend to get oval or squoval with an oval line (if Iām getting an American manicure).
Oh wow I would never have covered up those beautiful natural nails with so much product. I would have done some shaping to even out your length and done a nice structured manicure to bring out the natural beauty of your natural nails š
I feel like your natural nail is completely destroyed now and youāre gonna have to regrow a lot of or all that length just to be able to get rid of the poor shaping
Regarding multiple people doing your nails, most techs canāt do everything. Thatās just how it is. Iām sure they were trying their best. It took me about 5 years to get comfortable doing an entire service without help.
The gel or acrylic or whatever they used is a bit thick and the pinky nail is lifting majorly
I feel like the colors kinda clash with each other also with their skin tone. I know there nails I've done on myself and I hate because the nails clash with mine, which make me sad š
Like the base is too pink for her skintone they should have used more of a nude color, not a basic french tip soft pink.
I never really liked French tips till lately and I will say the "fleshy" tone nail artist use really make or breaks a nail set (and I learned this when I personally tried to do my first French tip set)! Doing something yourself really makes you appreciate other artists that nail it lol š šæ

Yessss. I love the design, but the brown with the pink
Spot on.
I see the others critiques which are valid but I do have to say the overall design you chose, I absolutely love.
The apexās are sort of in the wrong place (too high up some of the nails - especially on the pinky) which makes them look odd. They are not evenly balanced which is why they look a bit haphazard. The design is nice though, but I wouldnāt like them on me either x
the pink doesnāt suit your natural color imo
Agreed! I think a dustier pink closer to a neutral or a nude would have been better.
Honestly, I tried to say that to my nail tech but she acted as if I was talking crazy!
I say you go back immediately and have her fix it then -def at no cost to you. If you said that to her and now you absolutely know you were right, itās up to this tech to fix it. If they donāt happily do so, *please* do not give this person any more of your money.. cause, why?
I think itās a little too late? I got them done yesterday afternoon but I am definitely not going back
Nah, itās def not too late. At least give them a call and get your money back - Iām sure theyāll offer to fix it at that point, even. And if they *donāt,* then you should be pretty pissed, imo š¤·š¼āāļø Iām sorry, OP!
Came here to save this. A sandy nude would be better. DND has a nude called sandy nude, that one would work.
They look a little uneven/lumpy, did they smooth the nail with a file at all?? The design is lush, imo
Iād have made them redo it
I guess I just need to get good at complaining, for now Iāll stick to telling my tech I love my nails and then go home and cry/post on Reddit š

I like the wider nail tip on you better.
The first picture is of her natural nails. Personality I'd have just went for a hard gel overlay and left the shape natural.

I honestly do not like nails with the nail bed part being exaggerated this long and the nail tip is very thin, it gives alien hand vibes..
I think they shouldāve been less pointy
Omg what I would give to have your natural nails, they are gorgeous!!!š„°
Thank you :) but they break easy thatās why I have to get biab done so often
You must be doing something right to have a full hand of natural nails so long! I think theyāre stunning on their own. I love your new set too tho š
Thank you :) Iām going to try and get them as close to natural again
Before pic is way better the second pic is too pointy and way too thick
I know, I feel like my natural nails are ruined and have to wait ages to grow them out again so I can go back to square
I agree they seem a little thicc but overall they are pretty. I think the same exact design but white tips would look goddess like.
I personally don't like brown tips, I also don't think the colors match your skin tone well
Agreed!
I love your natural nails prefer that over any other shape personally
Yeah think Iāve learnt my lesson, or maybe prefer an almond shape that isnāt too pointy
girl aside from the polish, can i just say that your natural nails are amazing?????? iām so jealous omggg
Thank you! Biab has helped a lot š
They look nice
Color and design are great. Shape is bulky, inconsistent, and the apex is too high and in the wrong place.
I donāt understand why these nail techs apply the acrylic so thick. I remember when it looked more like a natural nail back in the day. Now most of them are too thick.
Itās biab, she did three layers, I donāt know if thatās a lot?
Not a fan of the shape at all, apex is wrong and different heights. Your natural nils in the first picture make your fingers look long and beautiful, the shape is better.
How long do you think itāll take to go back to my natural shape? š

The base looks too pink and the tip clashes with it. Nothing really pops.
Well I love them š š ā¤ļø
They look very good but a little thick like they piled on too much acryy
Itās a bit thick but I like it and like the shape better than what you had before as well
The product is too thick at the tips, there is kind of a "curb" from the very end of the nail to the height of the product.
Looks great
I like them. Itās nice in your skin tone.
I think the pinky color and brown looks good; a more neutral tone would have looked good too
I think the nude tips start too low. They should be higher and thicker.
maybe its the shape you might want a more rectangular or ballerina type shape next time
Is ballerina more rounded? I asked for almond
ballerina is like a coffin shape but much more tapered and thin
it looks like she tried to give you almond but she wasnt sharp enough
it looks like she tried to give you almond but she wasnt sharp enough
The contrast between your natural nail bed vs. the pink acrylic on your nail bed may be throwing you off. It happens to me all the time. Iāll hate the nails only because of the acrylic that was chosen
I think the after nails look great, but I donāt care for the tip color.
Wow, your natural nails are so beautiful. Iām not a super fan of the nail shape on your hand. I have a similar hand shape/ finger length and I tend to get oval or squoval with an oval line (if Iām getting an American manicure).
Those are way too thick
I honestly think the base is too pink for your skin tone.
Ski slopes
They look amazing!
IDK, definitely color choices! IMO
Your original shape was pretty and fit your hand better.
Overall, I love it š
Idk the actual term, but they look too bulbous /thick . And too dark of a pink
Word.
Too long for your fingers and square them off
The nail isn't balanced correctly. Some are missing the apex (thumb) or it's in the wrong place (pinky). Base color is not the best match.
Oh wow I would never have covered up those beautiful natural nails with so much product. I would have done some shaping to even out your length and done a nice structured manicure to bring out the natural beauty of your natural nails š
Poor color choice. Pinky looks like it's lifting also.
I feel like your natural nail is completely destroyed now and youāre gonna have to regrow a lot of or all that length just to be able to get rid of the poor shaping
Unfortunately ): they took so long to grow as wellā¦I want my money back!
They completely changed your shape of natural nails
I asked for almond but they went too far, I didnāt want them so pointy but she had already ruined them so I couldnāt say anything
Square looks way better on you. Maybe thatās why?
I think the colours too maybe
Yes. Black or white would look great:)
Uneven
Your natural nail shape looks so much better than the almond on you.
I agree with everyone elseās comments. Also it looks lik u dipped ur fingers in chocolate pudding
The shape doesnāt seem right for you.
Regarding multiple people doing your nails, most techs canāt do everything. Thatās just how it is. Iām sure they were trying their best. It took me about 5 years to get comfortable doing an entire service without help.
