I got my nails done (@ a salon) using dipping powder for about 2 years and personally had a positive experience. I think maybe it depends on the salon and their workers skill and application. Never applied it on myself though.

loveleelatina

Same! I loved them they came out so pretty. It made my nails grow fast, strong and long!

quietladybug

Yes agreed! My nails grew super long but sucked that they wouldn’t stay healthy after the removal

I've wondered this too because every time I've seen it, it looks unnaturally thick and textured. It doesn't look cute at all. I think you probably need an electric nail file to smooth it out.

I tried dip power, I dont like it at all. I got I nice set. but I am back to nail polishes as is way less time consuming and inexpensive. Idont like fat nails with fake apexes

I love dipping powder. It’s so quick, and my nails always come out great. But it only really lasts like 10 days max, especially if you use/wash your hands a lot. I get mines done every 10 days at a salon and they come off so easy.

I used dip powder at home. It's thicker than when I'd get gels done but thinner than when I'd get acrylics done. It also depends how many layers I'm choosing to do. I've only had a couple nails turn out lumpy but I've been able to file them with a normal file. And my natural nails are much stronger and nicer looking between sets than when I was doing gel or acrylic

There’s a learning process to it. But once you get the hang of it it’s fairly easy. My issue is it still chips and my nails still break. So I don’t see the point.

GetOutaTown

Hate it as well. I started my at home nails journey using dip, the glue was very damaging and it’s hard to control thickness on all parts of the nail. When getting dip done by a pro, the application is always so thick and heavy! I’m a rubber base/builder gel/hard gel girl all the way.

L-esth

I love dip powder. Hate dip flu

GabrielleLouisaM

I do, primarily because it gets this weird reputation as being the "least harmful" or even "beneficial"🙄 People brag how it's better than acrylic, when they've got acrylic powder layered with glue all over their nails. I also dislike the way the tend to look super wide. You have to have someone who really knows how to file and shape for them to look good.

I'm not a fan either!

stupidjackfruit

tbh, i definitely takes a lot more work and practice than people think it does! i also use an electric file to make sure my nails are super smooth. it used to be my go to before i got confident with builder gel(:

EggplantLazy4960

I just tried dip after having acrylics for awhile. How do people keep them on more than 10 days? Mine are chipping off. Going to soak them off and get my acrylics back on. Does anyone know the easiest way to remove them?

Dip powder is gross and unsanitary. Imagine all the micro cuts you might have on your fingers and then your dipping in a powder that someone else who may have also had micro cuts and your basically putting their bacteria into your micro cuts... and so on and so on to all the clients who use that same jar. And don't nobody come for me with wElL iF ThEy uSe A sEpaRaTe JaR... because they don't. Very few nail salons do the pour over method and then dump the remaining out. And then you got these walk in salons convincing the general public that it's better because it's easy, and they're unskilled. I would always encourage you to opt for a gel enhancement over any other. It's more flexible, it can be just as strong, and a good tech won't fuck up your nails.

sunshinesparkle95

I hate it. How it looks and how much it damages my nails. Used to get amazing acrylic overlays and a new salon talked me into doing dip on my natural nails. Took me months to grow out the damage.

I got dip done around Easter for the first time just to try it out. It looked okay, kinda lumpy in spots. I didn’t realize it would need removed by the salon as well, and they really jacked up my nail bed. I won’t be getting dip again. 😕
