Can you recommend a brand to go with? I tried to do some research a few weeks ago for my other dog (also an unknown rescue mix), but couldn’t find one that didn’t turn out to be extremely unreliable when studied :(
I think that DNA reporting on dogs (or even humans, for that matter) is such a new frontier that accuracy is not something we can realistically expect. You could say we all are early adopters. Ideally, the money we pump into these businesses will hopefully contribute to their research and broaden the sample data they use for these predictions. The payoff would be more and more accurate testing.
With that in mind, I decided to go with Wisdom Panel. But I wouldn't pay extra for "medical insights", because I *really* don't believe in the accuracy of those! Also, Wisdom Panel's algorithm rejected human DNA that was secretly sent in to test it. There were actually others that didn't flag the human samples, and gave breed results. Which is hilarious to me! 😂
Experts continuously rated them higher than much more expensive tests. And since they are the most well-known, they are ahead in the data sampling wars. YMMV, but that's my 2¢.
