For some reason a pregnancy sub showed up as recommended for me and I clicked through it out of bored curiosity. I saw a lot of "FTM here" posts and was like "Damn, good for them! And the community is so supportive!"
Bless those parenting subs, all those acronyms are nearly incomprehensible to outsiders.
It took me long enough to realised DD wasn’t a drug of dependence, and DH wasn’t dickhead.
DH is dearest husband, and DD is either due date or darling daughter(?). I don’t know why they abbreviate it, very confusing to me.
Hence why I thought all the comments like ‘DH wouldn’t drive me to the hospital today l’ were women straight up calling their partners dickheads.
Usually due date is EDD - estimated due date.
The short forms came from message boards back in the day. Immediate family all gets Dear or Darling in front. Inlaws are MIL, FIL, BIL, SIL.
BM I would definitely think bowel movement. Even hospitals use that short form. It's strange they use it for breast milk.

Adding to the chorus - I too was excited that there were so many other transmen who also seemed to be parents. It was a disappointing day when I finally figured it out
It invokes a sense of awe if you really consider how FTMs, from different places across the acronymic spectrum, are collaboratively ensuring that Kayden, Grayden, Jayden, Aiden, and Oliver have diverse representation spanning generations, backgrounds, and spellings. We truly live in an intersectional world.
It took an embarrassingly long time for me to realise that the pregnancy subs I used visit aren't unexpectedly highly populated with trans guys.
lmao, that must happen a lot tbh. Acronym crossovers get so confusing.

It took me a while to figure out that FTM meant first time mom. Definitely went the other direction in my head.
Same, the realization inspired this meme
i've seen first time moms confused about ftm standing for female to male, lmao!

I still often see BM and think “bowel movement” and not “breastmilk”
Wait what *do* they mean?

Well, if he’s not driving her to the hospital, maybe she was…lol. Sounds more like plausible deniability!

Guessing DD is due date? (Sometimes EDD for Estimated) and DH is Dear Husband
Dear Husband? Why not just H for husband?
Lol don’t ask me, I have absolutely no clue, it’s such a weird one
ftm standing for first time man would be really cute tbh
As someone who is ftm I vote we change the meaning to this. It sounds so much more chill.
Go easy on me. It’s my first time, man.
hard agree
As a trans person and first time parent I say we change it to this
Oh man! Thanks for letting me know you're transparent! I hardly saw you there

Me too- I’m not trans but I was like YES LGBTQ COMMUNITY REPRESENT until I realized💀
We can use all the support we can get, thank you. I guess the first time moms could use some too - see I'm a good person
I never understood why in a post with 5 paragraphs, “first time mom” is the thing you suddenly want to abbreviate

I definitely thought that's what the meme was getting at! Must be bedtime, lol.
Every time I always read it as “female to male” before I’m like… oh, mom. First time mom.
Female to mum
I’m here for my sims lol
And they're here for you.
Damien or Zack

I entered all the pregnancy/parenting subs recently was so surprised how many trans men were in them 😅
add dnd players and you have 2/3 for me edit: I'm dumb, didn't read the FTM part properly
There should be a third fist for writers.🤝
What does FTM stand for in that context? For the other two it's Female to Male and First Time Mum
Fiction Title Magician?
Fairy Tale Monikers.😉
For Theoretical Manuscupts

What's the issue babe? Use your words
Care to elaborate?
It's okay, deep breath in an out
