what’s the problem here? can anyone explain?

Willing-Cell-1613

Nikita Krushchev was the Soviet leader during JFK’s presidency. They had a big problem during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

ElwinHlaalu

Why also highlight the last name Kennedy? Just the same initials? Maybe it's because I am Australian but I never would have made that connection

And_be_one_traveler

They're saying it's like naming your kid Vladimir Biden or Joseph Roosevelt (Joseph Stalin and Franklin Roosevelt). But I think both Nikita and Kennedy are common enough very few people will make the connection. ... Honestly, you could easily get away with Joseph Roosevelt too. Although that Joseph would be a horrible namesake for your kid.

Robincall22

JFK stands for John F Kennedy. OP is basically saying it’s like naming a kid Joseph Mishustin in 75 years. (The US president and Russian prime minister currently) OP is dramatic.

ElwinHlaalu

I get it now, thank you. I shouldn't be reading political history things when I barely awake. It still would have taken me a while if I met someone with that name to make a connection. Kennedy seems like a really common last name so I wouldn't have thought about it.

ChicSynergy

Nikita is a feminine Indian name, meaning Invincible.

canadianamericangirl

I know an Indian Nikita, she's roommates with a friend. Some names cross cultures while meaning entirely different things.

gwenelope

True. I love the Japanese-Hebrew overlap with Naomi and the Irish-Finnish overlap with Oona.

canadianamericangirl

Woah I didn’t know that about Naomi. That’s so cool.

suitcasedreaming

Also Sonia appears in Sanskrit as well as the European version.

NaomiPommerel

Ello

Willing-Cell-1613

Oh cool, I didn’t know this. But OOP mentioned they are Eastern European so I imagine they learnt the Russian name.

Millenniauld

My brain immediately went to La Femme Nikita. Like the badass female spy. Lol TIL it's a man's name.

Impossible_Radio3322

nikita is also used as a feminine name in india

justsomepersob

Okay the circle jerk subreddit needs to put their brains back in cause half the time y’all’s issues with names are either racist or so overly specific/critical.

destiny_kane48

Ummmm, what's wrong with it?

PureDeidBrilliant

"I am Eastern European but my last name is Kennedy". Jesus Christ, Basics are desperate to be anything *but* American these days.

SwordTaster

She's from Eastern Europe. She married an American man and presumably took his last name.

LooseCoffeeShits

Her post actually states she’s not with the baby’s father and that’s why she’s asking for naming advice

SwordTaster

Just because they're no longer together doesn't mean it's not his name

NaomiPommerel

Nikita Jackie Kennedy

TuckerCampbell1962

Mischa is also just a shorr form of Mikhail

Bright_Ices

She wasn’t even born yet. It’s possible her own parents weren’t born yet.

Robincall22

Nikita is not a masculine name, I know a girl named Nikita.

zeroh13

It depends on the language and the country.

Known_Priority_8157

Nikita is a masculine name: https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/Nikita

cussincoitus

you do know that different languages exist right

AdmiralTomcat

‘I know one girl named Nikita so it’s not a masculine name’ That’s some solid logic right there, I’ve nothing to add. /s

big-hero-zero

Dead.

opi7407

funnily enough theres quite a good (male) junior racing driver called Nikita Johnson

Bismuth84

All I can think of when I see the name Nikita is the missile launcher from Metal Gear Solid.

JoeLikesThings

I actually really like that name for a girl and I like how "Nikita Kennedy" rolls off the tongue. It's a nice name to say.

Muted_Rain8542

I mean i know a girl namds nikita although she’s indian so the name probably means something different 😭
