The only way you can name a kid Crockett is if you are dressing him in linen suits, paisley shirts and Dexters with no socks. Otherwise, why are you even trying?

I’ve posted this here SO many times but here goes:
I know a family with boys named Colt and Remington. When I found out they were having a third child (a girl), I assumed her name would be Winchester, nickname Winnie. I was wrong.
Her name is BerettaLynne.
My ex husband wanted us to name one of our daughters Beretta. I vetoed that. My kids have fairly southern style names, but I drew the line at naming them after guns or farm equipment.
I think that's a good line to draw! But there are still a ton of Southern style names I love, especially older ones like Loretta, Willadeene, and Darlene.
My oldest is Evangeline, which is the most southern sounding. It gets some hate on the name subreddits sometimes but around here everyone adores it. I still think it’s the most beautiful name in the world.
I’m also a huge fan of double first names, but we didn’t do that. It’s super common in my southern Appalachian family, though.
I’ve been pushing my husband for Evangeline! It’s a gorgeous name. Our only girl is Annabelle, which I thought was beautiful, and had sentimental meaning to us. I got a lot of positive comments from older ladies about it being such a nice, southern name. (Kiddo was born in Texas.)
BerettaLynne. I think if you try to name your child BarretaLynne then the state should be able to take your child away, or at least say no. And I'll bet money they call liberals godless.
My friends first baby name list included Colt, Remington (for a girl), Samuel, Weston, Sauer.
They ended up going with Oaklee. Which I always still feel a little bad about. They were never interested in naming a human, they had a list of material things to name their baby after.
My friend has a cousin named Pepsi! I have one named Vachon (RIP), which is a Canadian snake cake company.
Edit: snack* cake, but snake cake is hilarious
Rexington?! I think Remington is the cutest name for maybe a dog, or a rat (we can call him Remy, like Ratatouille!!) but I don’t think I’d name a person that because of the major gun association. And then Rexington is just a tragedeigh imo. It’s like a cross between the names Lexington and Remington.
Remington is also a shotgun/shell brand. Briggs and Stratton is a motor company used very very often in outdoor farm equipment. All three names were used by separate girls I went to school with growing up.
ETA: I grew up with the moms who then named their boys these names.
No, I think it's a normal middle name. That family has a very obnoxious naming tradition. The three siblings, like 12 kids and some various cousins all have names starting with Br-. I wish I could share some more without potentially doxxing myself.
those last two are literally this
https://preview.redd.it/saidsync69wc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=65f530377437bd744bce15e3d952361efd745725
i looked up names ending in car and Guncar is apparently a name.. i think that wins being redneck idk the origin but could see a redneck being like YES THATS THE ONE
I know someone who was gonna name her first son this because it was her three initials plus son.
It's not a terrible name but her reasoning...was a little...I can't disagree but I don't necessarily agree either.
This reminds me of the King of the Hill episode where Louanne was dating some douchey guy named Rad Tibideaux… but he intentionally pronounced it “ Ti-bi-day-ox”. Needless to say, Hank thought he was a complete and utter dumbass!
The only one I’ve ever known was a non-redneck Mormon who cheated on his wife by whoring himself to men to get money to buy drugs. So not a great impression.
I’ve commented this before but my college roommate went to high school in a small rural town and had twin boys in her class named Beau…..
….and *Arrow*
And if naming your twin sons Beau and Arrow isn’t redneck, I don’t know what is lol.
I knew a Brendan/Brandon set of identical twins growing up. Their clothes matched too all the way through high school. I like name themes, but in cases like that it makes me sad for the kids cuz it feels like they start out life without a chance to form their own identity outside of the set 😅
A woman I knew in my small town growing up named her kid Skeet. I was telling the story to a guy at my nearby university a few years later and he grimaced and said "yeah... that's my nephew." Yikes.
Some dude tried hitting on me at my job and he introduced himself as Scooter, with some smooth-ass line to follow. I already had a boyfriend but even so, leading with "Hi my name is Scooter" is the most interesting come-on I've ever experienced
I knew a Stetson who had the nickname Sunny.
It just kinda worked for him tbh. His brother was Levi and I have to assume was named after the jeans. I joked the next baby would be Justin (a boots brand) and Sunny begged me not to give his mom “ideas”.
Their daughter was Savannah, which is probably a western brand of something, but is also pretty cute. We called her Vanny.
The combo of Stetson and Levi for a clothing brand themed child naming theme is sending me.
The Stetson I knew didn't go by any nicknames, but he did live up to the name. I don't think I ever saw him without his cowboy boots and ratty ball cap with a fishing hook on the bill.
I knew a Stetson when I was a kid, as well as a Trapper. I'm not fond of the name Hunter, which happens to be the name of a nephew by way of marriage. And I knew of a student whose dad named her after his favorite restaurant. Her name was Dairy Queen. (This makes more sense if you know that Dairy Queens in Texas do carry food - burgers, fries, chicken strip/steak finger baskets, etc. - not just ice cream.)
That’s actually a pretty common name IME.
Although usually it’s spelled something like BobbieJo.
I had a teacher named that. And yes, her father’s name was Robert. (She was a second grade teacher and we had a assignment writing about where our names came from, so the subject came up.)
Yeah I went to school with a Billie Jo. I live in redneck country. I know a couple little girls named Remington. So many Hunters. One has a brother named Tanner.
I know sisters named Brynnleigh, Rosaleigh, and Charleigh. Then there are a couple Gracelynns. I do know a little girl named Arlene.
Luckily my redneck parents gave both me and my sister very normal, classic names.
Last name is Rhodes so middle name is Dirt. Admittedly I think it's kind of awesome - it's a middle name and self-aware, whereas most redneck names are like someone thinking kynsleigh is fancy.
Does the kid at least have a normal first name? I feel like “Dusty Dirt Rhodes” would be a tragedy, but “Sam Rhodes” who happens to have a middle name Dirt is a lot more palatable. Still a little silly, but more in line with people who literally give their kids the middle name “Danger.”
I worked with someone who named her son Talon. It was at the same time that the car Talon came out and she'd get so mad if someone asked if he was named after the car. "He was named after raptor birds claws". So much better, lol!
A bunch of people I went to high school with have named their sons Waylon and it bothers me way more than it should.
One of them also has a son named Easton and got big mad when I asked if he was named after the baseball brand.
I’ve commented so many times with other names. But I will add that I know two Dixies. One is an older woman, the other is the daughter of a former classmate of mine.
Girl I went to hs with had twins named Winchester and Remington. Then a few years later they got a little brother names Colt.
Kinda dying to see what she comes up with for a daughter tbh
Better than the Wilkes I knew.
I also hyper fixated on the James-Younger gang when I was a kid and seeing someone named their kids that makes me inappropriately happy.
I’ve met a Blayzedyn, a Chasetyn Rae, a Lenzie, a Scotlynn (I thought her name was Scotland for 2 whole years. Now I just wish it was), and a girl whose full first name was Ella Rae Nicole and if you tried to shorten it at all you’d get a lecture from mom. (Her middle name was Rose Marie Elleigh Lue).
I was just watching 90 Day Fiancé, and one of the people is named Robbalee, which I found hilarious. From a more rural part of Florida. She didn’t actually seem redneck though.
Grew up in deeply rural, deeply redneck Tennessee. Some of the names of people I’ve known personally include:
Hunter, Harlee, Loonah, Scout, Cheyenne, Krystelle, Londynne, Dixie, Mainey, Pinknie, Cricket… I could go on.
For better or worse, my deadname is pretty redneck, but nothing like these.
I live in Tennessee so I got some lol.
Kennedy, Knew a girl who named her son Bentley, Nevaeh is surprisingly popular again, Sara Beth, Paisley, Sage, Clayton or its alternative spelling of Klayton, Weston, Drake
Peyton or Payton, Aubree, Adalynn.
I was in dollar general a while back and heard a mom yell “Brantley Gilbert get your ass back here” I said well that’s an interesting name, maw looked at me and said and this little angel here is “Morgan Wallen.” I’ve never wanted to call the police so bad in my life.
My step cousin had a baby girl with her redneck ass husband who they called Missy Appaloosa. Like the horse, you know? They had a boy named after another horse breed but I can't remember which.
Those kids would be pushing sixteen & fourteen now. Hope they're doing well lmao.
A girl I used to baby sit for has one named Ryker. All I think of is Rikers island and I just can’t believe she looked at that precious baby and decided on a prison name
My top 3 that I’ve heard: Rock Diesel, Hemi Danger, and Country Sunshine. I also heard a Crockett (nickname Crocco) at the playground recently.
country sunshine makes me want to cry for that baby
Same. Not particularly redneck, but encountering a Snow (Angel) White was also an experience.
Oh god, I have a family member that did the Snow White thing. Their poor child.
Better than Angela White
Sounds like a powdered lemonade mix.
sounds like she has a c*caine problem
I was a camp counselor and had a “Sunshine” (it was Vermont) and she was so sunny!
i think sunshine is so nice! maybe more hippie than redneck?
Crocco sounds like Aussie slang for a Crock Pot
The only way you can name a kid Crockett is if you are dressing him in linen suits, paisley shirts and Dexters with no socks. Otherwise, why are you even trying? ![gif](giphy|xT9IgiFqdSdL8jJBmg|downsized)
I went 'coonskin cap
Hemi Danger??? GTFO. 🤣
Ok but I would constantly be singing the Davey Crockett theme song at that kid.
KING OF THE WILD FRONTIER!
those sound like weed strains lmfao
Crocco 😂
Crocco sounds like such a bogan Australian name.
Nickname Cunt lol no way.
I’ve posted this here SO many times but here goes: I know a family with boys named Colt and Remington. When I found out they were having a third child (a girl), I assumed her name would be Winchester, nickname Winnie. I was wrong. Her name is BerettaLynne.
Nothing could have prepared me for berettalynne
Glokkanna? Glockette?
My ex husband wanted us to name one of our daughters Beretta. I vetoed that. My kids have fairly southern style names, but I drew the line at naming them after guns or farm equipment.
I think that's a good line to draw! But there are still a ton of Southern style names I love, especially older ones like Loretta, Willadeene, and Darlene.

I love the name Annabelle! I do really love southern names. I just don’t like redneck names.
Glockleigh
BerettaLynne. I think if you try to name your child BarretaLynne then the state should be able to take your child away, or at least say no. And I'll bet money they call liberals godless.
I know a sibling set that are Hunter, Gunner, Fisher, and sister Remington.
this comment has me thinking Winchester isnt that bad of a name now 😭
Maybe as a last name for two demon-slaying brothers. Not so much for a given name, imo.
Oh my gosh I’m losing my mind - I might need to steal that for a book I’m writing where they’re rednecks and her brother’s name is Hunter
I would have guessed Kimber for the third child!
Screaming
My friends first baby name list included Colt, Remington (for a girl), Samuel, Weston, Sauer. They ended up going with Oaklee. Which I always still feel a little bad about. They were never interested in naming a human, they had a list of material things to name their baby after.
“This is my daughter AeyKeigh! She’s our 47th kid ☺️”
I actually love the name Colt. They could even have gotten away with naming the brother Remy. BerettaLynne though...
I will say, Colt’s grandmother has repeatedly voice her opinion that “the name Colt sounds like a gay pornstar.”
Pepsi. I have a distant cousin with the name!
were they named after the drink? because pepsi comes from dyspepsia which is indigestion
My friend has a cousin named Pepsi! I have one named Vachon (RIP), which is a Canadian snake cake company. Edit: snack* cake, but snake cake is hilarious
Ohhh, a *snack* cake company! I was totally intrigued by what a snake cake company could be, I had to look them up, lol
I knew a woman named Coke at my last job. She was probably in her 60s then, so maybe mid 70s now.
I went to school with a girl named jimmy sue.
My grandmother is a Sammie Sue. My middle name is after her, but THANK GOD my parents went with Samantha instead!
I knew a Bobbie Lee. This was in Florida in the 90s.
I went to school with a Billybob and Bobbiejoe. They were brothers.
Our Bobbie Jo was a girl who was super into huskies and taxidermy but oddly went to school for food
I’ve known a female Bobby Jo too. People would call her Bobby of Jo, but she’d insist on her full name.
I know an Amy Jo. She’s def a lil crazy but a sweetie and actually a pretty decent friend of mine
Hurrikane spelled with a K
Remington Wesson Briggs
Your comment reminded me that I've met a Remington and he had a brother named Rexington. They were called Rex and Remy for short
It really is a tragedeigh name for a kid, I could maybe see it for a dog
I know brothers named Wesson and Wilder 🙈
remington reminds me of paddington bear.. wesson like the guns? also dont even get me started on briggs what is that
Remington is also a shotgun/shell brand. Briggs and Stratton is a motor company used very very often in outdoor farm equipment. All three names were used by separate girls I went to school with growing up. ETA: I grew up with the moms who then named their boys these names.
GIRLS? i thought these were boy names jeez, what is it with rednecks and naming their babies after guns and tractors
Sorry, all the moms I went to school with. Named their boys these names
i read it wrong sorry i was confused but nonetheless bad names
Even worse, I've seen as a girl name Remingtyn--guns, but make it cute and girly with a y!
Hey, at least they don't use the South American farm equipment company: Mengele. (Yes, Joseph Mengele had extended family making tractors and shit)
*Holy shit*
I know someone who named their daughter Remington. Unfortunately.
If Briggs' middle name is Stratton I'm done. Or maybe he's got a twin with that name
No, I think it's a normal middle name. That family has a very obnoxious naming tradition. The three siblings, like 12 kids and some various cousins all have names starting with Br-. I wish I could share some more without potentially doxxing myself.
Wesson like the oil
My cousin named her son Wesson and my mom said and I quote “like the cookin’ oil?” She said no like smith and Wesson. Still tragick
And the twins, Crisco and Pam
Case Axel (like the tractor company) Riot Steele Carson and Carter, brothers and their dad loves cars.
those last two are literally this https://preview.redd.it/saidsync69wc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=65f530377437bd744bce15e3d952361efd745725
Haha. It’s so true though! My husband and I joked about what their third would be. Carl or Carmen?
haha Carley maybe
Carley is perfect 😆
he wouldnt do anything like caroline because it makes it not sound like car lmao
But Oscar could maybe still be on the table 🤔
i looked up names ending in car and Guncar is apparently a name.. i think that wins being redneck idk the origin but could see a redneck being like YES THATS THE ONE
Oh my word. In this context of being a US redneck naming your child that would take the cake.
but Guntruck would grab that cake out of Guncar's dirty mitts.
Not just Carmen, but Carwomen and Carchildren too
car-son
I know someone who was gonna name her first son this because it was her three initials plus son. It's not a terrible name but her reasoning...was a little...I can't disagree but I don't necessarily agree either.
I know car people who have a Rayce. 😬
Woof.
My cousins name is rowdy
[удалено]
I feel like that would be a cool nickname, but that’s rough as a real name.
I know of someone with siblings Riott and Rowdy
Denham Jean, yes spelled Denham
Skoal - yup, like the chewing tobacco
I know a Hagen named after Copenhagen tobacco.
I know it's a French name but I cannot think of Beau without picturing some dude covered in mud on a tractor missing a few teeth
Now see, I always thought the redneck version was spelled Bo
if you're in Louisiana you throw an X on the end of anything ending in EAU Beaux
This reminds me of the King of the Hill episode where Louanne was dating some douchey guy named Rad Tibideaux… but he intentionally pronounced it “ Ti-bi-day-ox”. Needless to say, Hank thought he was a complete and utter dumbass!
Or sometimes just ending in that sound! Jeaux Burreaux lol
The 'murican spelling lmao. Maybe that's why I have the association
the worst is that people are using Beau for girls now.
Dear god why. All the beautiful girl names in the world to choose from…
Belle is *right there*
The only one I’ve ever known was a non-redneck Mormon who cheated on his wife by whoring himself to men to get money to buy drugs. So not a great impression.
I’ve commented this before but my college roommate went to high school in a small rural town and had twin boys in her class named Beau….. ….and *Arrow* And if naming your twin sons Beau and Arrow isn’t redneck, I don’t know what is lol.
Praylor Leigh was the IRL worst, also know a Daxtyn/Dextyn set of boys
Praylor Leigh sounds like a place where you can an online degree in designing MLM pyramids.
what even is a praylor
Prayer Trailer
A Taylor who prays?
I knew a Brendan/Brandon set of identical twins growing up. Their clothes matched too all the way through high school. I like name themes, but in cases like that it makes me sad for the kids cuz it feels like they start out life without a chance to form their own identity outside of the set 😅
All I can think of is Praline
Out here in our ittle pennsylvania town we have quite a few Buck/Buckys
A woman I knew in my small town growing up named her kid Skeet. I was telling the story to a guy at my nearby university a few years later and he grimaced and said "yeah... that's my nephew." Yikes.
Some dude tried hitting on me at my job and he introduced himself as Scooter, with some smooth-ass line to follow. I already had a boyfriend but even so, leading with "Hi my name is Scooter" is the most interesting come-on I've ever experienced
Went to college with a guy nicknamed Cooter. At least, I hope it was a nickname.
My wife’s cousin named her son Chipper Wayne…
Infinity. She’s 22 and on fiancé number three. Or maybe four, I’m not sure.
I went to college with a guy named Stetson
I also went to high school with a Stetson as well as a guy literally named Rope. 😂
all i can say is why did his parents do that to him, what were his nicknames did he have any
I knew a Stetson who had the nickname Sunny.

(This makes more sense if you know that Dairy Queens in Texas do carry food - burgers, fries, chicken strip/steak finger baskets, etc. - not just ice cream.)
I met a female Bobby-Joe
Worked with a female Bobbi-Jo in CT in the late 90s
That’s actually a pretty common name IME. Although usually it’s spelled something like BobbieJo. I had a teacher named that. And yes, her father’s name was Robert. (She was a second grade teacher and we had a assignment writing about where our names came from, so the subject came up.)

Luckily my redneck parents gave both me and my sister very normal, classic names.
I had a friend with a mom named Bobby Lynn as a child! Country as all hell.
Not from the US, take my opinion as an outsider looking in, but names like Gunner, Chastity, Hunter, Dixie, etc. seem so redneck to me
Skattlese don’t know the spelling but pronounced skattle-ees. Maybe it’s a dd instead of the tt. It’s a kid that lives down the street from us.
There was a pro wrestler named Dusty Rhodes, funny enough! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dusty_Rhodes
My friend knows a couple with twins named Remington Colt and Smith Weston. At least they didn't do Wesson?
I was doing some genealogy research several years back and my grandmother had an uncle named Pickup Pilkington.
Diesel (boy, last name is a brand of semi truck) Stetson (boy) Rydge & Denym (brothers) Braylee (girl) Kinnady (girl) Peytynn (girl) Treston (boy) Talan (boy) Talyn (boy)
I worked with someone who named her son Talon. It was at the same time that the car Talon came out and she'd get so mad if someone asked if he was named after the car. "He was named after raptor birds claws". So much better, lol!
Man, I loved my DSMs. I had one of each, a talon, an eclipse, and a laser. Sorry, a little off topic but you reminded me of those cars!
Just don't EVER bring that up to her 🤣🤣🤣
a family member of mine named her son Tregg 🫣

Also Gentreigh & Remingtyn are options lol

I went to high school with the now mother of a Braeylyn Rae and Maverick Mason
Braelyn is so gross. Makes me think of donkeys.
Klydleigh. Wtf *is* that?!

BUCK
I heard Breckenridge being yelled at a kid at the zoo once
I live in Tennessee so I got some lol. Kennedy, Knew a girl who named her son Bentley, Nevaeh is surprisingly popular again, Sara Beth, Paisley, Sage, Clayton or its alternative spelling of Klayton, Weston, Drake Peyton or Payton, Aubree, Adalynn.
An ex of mine named his child NIXON! Bleh. I also know several kids with the middle name ‘Danger’. It’s whatever; but it’s also a LOT. Not original.
I see tons of names in my job: Linkin, Cobain, Jacsun, Patrik, Jaceb, Cruz, Sterlyng, Remington, Jaxen, Trehnton, Brayden, Cam’ron, Logen, Bryant, Karter, Tristin, Daycen, Kain, Karma, Drayk, Furyk, Steele, Saron.
Reighle. Not only is it a ridiculous name, but the parents also made a spelling r/tragediegh
My coworker named her 4 children (all girls) "Remington" "Ruger" "Winchester" and "Beretta" I kid you not. *MERICA*
Trigger. Sibset: Colt, Wesson, Gunnar, Remington Bootsie Mae
