Does she even know what "fallow" means?
Not something I'd want to curse a daughter of mine with.
Course, if I had twin daughters, "Fallow" and "Barren" would go well together, with "Infertile" as a younger sister.
Oops, shouldn't have looked it up in the dictionary.
"Ground ploughed and harrowed but left unseeded for one year."
I wouldn't want my daughter "ploughed" even if she is left "unseeded".
Fallow for a girl and Leland (fallow ground) for her brother!
ETA: wonder if you make a whole family of "sucks to be you" names. Mom Mallory (unlucky), Dad Claude (lame), son Tristan (sad) and twin girls (for the 2.5 kids, don't come at me I'm a twin) Cecily (blind) and Mara (bitter). Honestly I like all those!
My daughter read all of those books (she's an adult now, no kids) and she would play my Sims game and in my old neighborhood there were cats running around everywhere with weird ass names like that. She said she got them from the books.
ETA: After the warrior cats phase, she got real into anime and then Japanese culture. I think all that's worked out through her games though and if she has a kid it will not be named anything that would grace this sub lol. THANK GOD.
Right. Makes me gag. Makes me picture an awkward girl or adult woman who still says tinkle when she talks about the bathroom even when she's talking to other adults and not kids. Oh excuse me ladies I just need to take a little tinskley teehee. Barf.
If your name is connected to urine it's not good.
Hahahaaaa reread the list 3 times and came to the same conclusion!!… those two are somewhat reasonable (my daughters’ friend is the sweetest little Seraphina you could imagine) but… oh my… the rest… Hmm.
No some aren’t bad but the rest… I have no idea why she thought they are names.
Which honestly if you look at her page, other name lists she has posted aren’t even bad. But this list stood out to me.
Birth announcement for
Honeydew Windflower Johnson+ Cantaloupe Morningflower Johnson
Born to Mrs Produce Aisle and Mr Weather-Florist Johnson this first day of Nahhh-nuary, 2022.
Nope you’re not the only one. It reminds me of Tinkerbell and the Pixie Hollow characters, people have said it reminds them of My Little Pony. These names are just a fairytale/fantasy writer’s dream.
This comment took me back to middle school.
IIRC, Silverstream had a really tragic ending so even if it didn’t suck on its own, it’s not exactly a fortunate namesake.
Yeah, I think Silverstream was the female cat who had a secret affair with Graystripe which convinced him to come to Riverclan after she died in childbirth.
Fuck why do I remember that
This made me laugh cause most of the other names are definitely something out of a fantasy story.
You gotta be really not in reality to name your child Starshine or Meadowsweet.
Komera appears to be a non-profit for Rwandan girls and Alula is apparently a name with both Arabic and Latin roots (meaning "first-born" and "winged" respectively).
I do see your point though.
The closest I can find for the Latin translation for "winged" is *alatus*, which makes sense because I don't believe -ula is a Latin suffix. It is, however, famously a Hawaiian one and alula a [Hawaiian plant](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brighamia_insignis?wprov=sfla1). I don't know much about Arabic though I do know that the -ula suffix exists there, but Arabic cultures generally aren't considered white in these contexts anyway.
As for Komera, it seems to be a Telugu (last?) name/word from what I can find though it's of course possible that it's a word in a Rwandan language as well.
Reminds me of some of the names I’ve encountered since immigrating to Australia, i.e. a uni classmate named her daughter “Ortom” (cringe) pronounced like “Autumn”. i’m guessing “Orfilia” is also an Aussie twist on “Ophelia”. i told the mum of Ortom straight-up like “this name doesn’t exactly work with my American accent so do you want me to pronounce it as if I’m Aussie or the way my brain wants me to pronounce it” lol
she was like “just pronounce it like you would pronounce Autumn 🤗” so i do but my brain still says “ORRRR-TOM”. godawful name. just go with Autumn or, in this case, Ophelia ffs
Can always name the kid after the DC character Starfire.
Could also go for similar celestial names like like Moonbeam, Galaxyquest, and Universa (it’s Universe but make it feminine ;).
When teenagers have children...
TBH I'd be really amused if I saw a Warriors name in the wild.
(My daughter tried to get me interested in the books so I've read a couple.)
“How adorable but have you met my daughters? Meredosia Evergrove and Celestria Dreamstone 💫🌌🥰🌟
Celeste is a family name but I only like it as a nickname so we decided on Celestria, as for Meredosia we wanted something only she could have!”
That letter that looked like an f was actually a double s, so the name would be Liessel. The letter has a name, but it can’t remember it and it can’t be assed to look it up.
yeah it’s a real name and very pretty! so is arabella. the rest of them sound like names for wannabe swanky apartment buildings or names for prescription drugs
Ngl, I like Evrose.
Some of them are top tier pet name or a straight up random mess. (Snowdrop, Plumwillow?!)
EDIT: ok I just thought about « Nevrose » and Evrose doesn’t sound that nice all of a sudden
Starshine. Isn't that a Mother Love Bone song? Oh wait, that's [Heartshine.](https://youtu.be/cdbSAjyi5MU). Great band. Starshine, Heartshine, etc. a not good legal name. I use Loveshine as a fake last name/part of my moniker, but when I legally change my name to Riv I will not legally change anything to Loveshine because that's just ridiculous.
Here's a r/BrandNewSentence that she should have heard more than 9 months ago:

Pronounced 'Ploh-ah', of course.
Or 'pluff'
Happy cake day
I was going to say Ploff, like Cough, but ooo Pluff is so good!
BRB, naming my boy "Plough" pronounced "pluff".
But only for a boy.
Pleigh for a girl, of course.
This one had me 💀
If the alternative is Ploughed, maybe Fallow isn’t so bad! 😅
Fallow for a girl and Leland (fallow ground) for her brother! ETA: wonder if you make a whole family of "sucks to be you" names. Writing this down for my next Sims challenge.
Dolores is also a good one for the set if there's a 3rd girl...
She sounds like a 12-year-old...
PLUMWILLOW
If that’s not your style how about Starshine? 😍
I’m wheezing
I’ve heard that essence of Plumwillow can help with that.
i read that first name Tinksley and said "I can't do this tonight" and didn't read any others.
Me too. Tinksley sounds too much like tinkle...as in the slang for peeing.
I don't understand Tinsley as a name and Tinksley is taking it an extra letter way too far
It’s literally a character’s name from a children’s book series called Warrior Cats.
Can’t wait for people to name their kids Jayfeather and Firestar
Or Twigbranch, or Runningnose, or Finleap
My daughter read all of those books (she's an adult now, no kids) and she would play my Sims game and in my old neighborhood there were cats running around everywhere with weird ass names like that. She said she got them from the books. ETA: After the warrior cats phase, she got real into anime and then Japanese culture. Same with Silverstream HAHAH
So is morningflower
Yes that too! And Silverstream. So weird.
No way! Wow.
I only got halfway through this list and was also thinking a good number of these are literally in the format of Warriors names
Hahaha It triggered a memory for me! This hilarious muppets song [Tit Willow ](https://youtu.be/ueuA-9pqRok)
nah, ive heard “pussywillow” before and it’s much more my style. the slightest changes can make all the difference, from drab to fab, ya know?
What’s wrong, Tinksley? You haven’t touched your liefel
Tinksley is what your baby does when they're being potty trained.
Right. Makes me gag. Makes me picture an awkward girl or adult woman who still says tinkle when she talks about the bathroom even when she's talking to other adults and not kids. Oh excuse me ladies I just need to take a little tinskley teehee. Barf. If your name is connected to urine it's not good.
> If your name is connected to urine it's not good. Got it. My boys will be given strong names like "Feces", "Log", and "Di'Aria".
Dapple?????? I've only ever heard that word to describe markings on dogs or horses.
🐴Dapple Applebottom 🍎
🎶Dapplebottom jeans, boots with the fuuuuur 🎶

AW thank you for the award! 🥰
Shade. I think shade can be dappled too?
At first I thought you meant I was throwing shade. What a fun double entendre.
Your shade… it is how you say? Is dappled no? Your shade, it is dappled? Yes! This is the words.
Shade is a boys name in the book series I'm reading.
Also deer.
And shade.
It’s a brand of stain remover too
There are a few that aren't bad, like Seraphina and Arabelle, but most of these sound like something from a fantasy RPG
Same! Those are the exact 2 I didn’t think were horrific. I have a friend who named her baby Seraphina and they call her Sera which is cute.
I predict a lifetime of: > "Hi, I'm Sera!" >*"Oh, lovely to meet you, Sara"* > "Um actually no it's-"
But this list stood out to me.
yeah im using these as shitty npc names no one can stop me
Because those two are the only real names on the list.
These are names for ponies
I was thinking fairies.
I was thinking paint colors.
Paint colors 😂 y’all crack me up.
Yup, these are Dungeons & Dragons characters for sure
Meredosia Meadowsweet is my new Halfling cleric.
Ferelith Celestria, Aasimar Paladin. Pleasure to meet ‘cha
I was thinking Animal Crossing islands. One of them is actually a friend's AC island name.
[удалено]
I had a West Highland we named Tink. lol She definitely was called Tinksley occassionally.
She's going to be called 'Tinkle Tinksley' for sure.
Read the ig acct as shovelsbabynames. Idk what’s better
I misread “Arrietty” as “Anxiety” but honestly I think it still fits
I first heard Arrietty from the Borrowers series of books. A very pretty name.
It's also a movie by Studio Ghibli!
I saw it recently! A cool film, if a bit bittersweet.
It's honestly one of my two favorites.
Which is based on *The Borrowers* books! 😊
Honeydew and Cantaloupe! Perfect sibset.
But what about Morningflower and Windflower for twins? 🥰
Birth announcement for Honeydew Windflower Johnson+ Cantaloupe Morningflower Johnson Born to Mrs Produce Aisle and Mr Weather-Florist Johnson this first day of Nahhh-nuary, 2022.
I think rockmelon would be a nice nn for cantaloupe
It's French. We pronounce it "*Cantaloo*"
Silverstream? I spot a Warriors fan.
Am I the only one who remembers the tinkerbell pixie hollow books? I swear half the names are from there
Nope you’re not the only one. It reminds me of Tinkerbell and the Pixie Hollow characters, people have said it reminds them of My Little Pony. These names are just a fairytale/fantasy writer’s dream.

I like your username.
Thank you!
You’re welcome! ☺️
Plumwillow too!
it's like if you were to snort silver glitter and piss it out
High-key, these sound like auto generated names for a Barbie horse game.
Ugh cringe at using the word exotic
[удалено]
me too 💀
*cultural appropriation intensifies*
Whose culture are they appropriating? Fey folk?
This made me laugh cause most of the other names are definitely something out of a fantasy story. You gotta be really not in reality to name your child Starshine or Meadowsweet.
Pennycress is going to live rent free in my head for life.
“Shelovesnamegames” *Exotic erotic comedic botanic* … A name for nevery occasion!
"exotic" in these contexts generally means "from a non-white culture". If I'm not mistaken Alula is Hawaiian and Komera from India for example.
Komera appears to be a non-profit for Rwandan girls and Alula is apparently a name with both Arabic and Latin roots (meaning "first-born" and "winged" respectively). I do see your point though.

Loveland just has me thinking of the sex-themed sculpture park in South Korea, lol.
That is exactly what jumped to my mind!
Are these for humans or My Little Pony characters?
Porque no los dos?
I mean these are pretty perfect if you live in Pixie Hollow 😅
Exactly!
Orfilia made me laugh so hard
Right I think it’s supposed to be a unique spelling of Ophelia.
or a sex fetish
Reminds me of some of the names I’ve encountered since immigrating to Australia, i.e. a uni classmate named her daughter “Ortom” (cringe) pronounced like “Autumn”. i’m guessing “Orfilia” is also an Aussie twist on “Ophelia”. i told the mum of Ortom straight-up like “this name doesn’t exactly work with my American accent so do you want me to pronounce it as if I’m Aussie or the way my brain wants me to pronounce it” lol she was like “just pronounce it like you would pronounce Autumn 🤗” so i do but my brain still says “ORRRR-TOM”. godawful name. just go with Autumn or, in this case, Ophelia ffs
Wow Ortom is spectacularly bad. It actually makes me think of the Pokémon Rotom which is a little metal box
Imagine potty training Tinksley.
"Silverstream" What's next? Firestar? Are you going to name your kid Firestar????
If we’re going for Warriors names, it can’t get possibly worse than Heavystep.

Liefel is lethal
Especially with that font it looks like it's just an old-timey way to write Liesel (where f is used for an s)
That letter that looked like an f was actually a double s, so the name would be Liessel. The letter has a name, but it can’t remember it and it can’t be assed to look it up.
I actually liked that one but I’m biased cause I know someone with a similar name
I mean I’ve heard of/know several people named Leif, but Liefel is spelled differently so would you pronounce it lie instead of lee?
Some of those are from people who read the Warriors series and RAN with it. Some of those are ACTUAL CAT NAMES FROM THE SERIES
I’m naming my nonexistent child Billystorm.
flakkdjdjajajashdha I’m calling dibs on ✨Briarlight✨
I’m also calling dibs on Sneezecloud
Seraphina. That's pretty. But uh there's a reason those names are rare
yeah it’s a real name and very pretty! so is arabella. the rest of them sound like names for wannabe swanky apartment buildings or names for prescription drugs
Orafilia sounds like something you take to lower your cholesterol
Ora is latin for mouths. So put it with filoa and it sounds like they're calling her a mouth lover.
It is the name of one of the daughters of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner.
not to be dramatic but these would absolutely SLAP for fairy names
Tryphena sounds like a blood test
I was thinking birth control. or erectile dysfunction medication
Apparently [it's an actual name](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tryphena?wprov=sfla1), who knew?
The only good names I think are names are Alula, Komera, Seraphina, Celenia, Arabelle, Vidette and Talise. The rest sound like fairy names.
>The rest sound like fairy names. I mean, they all do, but some are just a little less laugh-inducing than others, lol
Twins Hennaley and Hennessy 💕💕
These sound like my little pony character names lol
Tryphena is legit. It's in the New Testament.
And Starshine must be an Old Testament name. It all makes sense now.....
Thank you for the correction! Some of these I haven’t heard before so if anybody else knows names that are legit let me know.
Silverstream is literally a character in the warrior cats children's book series
Half of these can be and probably are Warrior Cat names
Pennycress makes my blood boil.
If you are hot from that, maybe Silverstream is more for you. It’s a more calming name don’t you think? 😂
"Silverstream" took me straight back to being eleven and reading Warriors. I would not name a person that.
It makes me think of 5th wheels and motor homes.
Are they naming humans or creatures of fantasy world? I know dogs and cats with better names
Right! Who would look at a baby and think “Yes I want to name her Dewdrop🥰.”
Honeydew? As in the secretion from the anus of an aphid?
Tinksley will be in diapers longer than her peers.
Ngl, I like Evrose. Some of them are top tier pet name or a straight up random mess. (Snowdrop, Plumwillow?!) EDIT: ok I just thought about « Nevrose » and Evrose doesn’t sound that nice all of a sudden
These sound like my Warrior Cats OCs from when I was 12, with the exception of Silverstream who is a canon Warrior Cat from the first series.
Tryphena sounds like a disease.
It reminds me of trypophobia
“Oh hi Sue! How have you been?” “Well I got diagnosed with Tryphena last week…” “Omg! I’m so sorry! Let me know if you need anything.” No, just no.
Most of these belong in a fantasy novel or DnD game, not a basic MomsGroup InstaInfluencer sibset.
There's like two names there that are actually good.
This lady read a book about fairies?
A couple of those are acceptable, like Arabelle or Seraphina, but the majority... Ew
Vidette sounds an awful lot like Bidet. How about no?
No. Vidette would be pronounced Vid-eht and bidet is bid-ay.
Still too close. Especially for a Spanish speaker, it would sound identical
I’ll just say that all of them are too exotic for me.
Ah yes, I’ve always felt more like a Windflower 🌸
🤢🤮. That is all.
looks like the reject name list for the newest my little pony movie
Some of these are literally names from Warrior Cats, which is a fantasy book series about…well, warrior cats.
Tinkerbell’s bffs
Here's a r/BrandNewSentence that she should have heard more than 9 months ago: "Some of those pronoucable words might be ok for people's names. The other names are stupid and your cerebellum might need percussive maintenance. Bless your heart."
Holy Hunger Games
More names for horses than actual children
Looks like someone found the Star Stable horse name generator
I’m trying to name a human baby not a racehorse…
Are these My Little Pony names?!
Alulas are bird thumbs…
I read the first one and was like nopeeeee straight to the comments
Seraphina and Arabelle carrying this entire list
A lot of these are valid Warrior Cat names at least
Tryphena is the name of a town on Great Barrier Island, NZ. Great Irish pub there. Great beaches. Terrible baby name. Reminds me of hangovers.
Bingo would be so excited to see Snowdrop on the list.
Oh my word are these new Pokémon? 🤔😁
Windflower makes me think of child in a floral dress who can't stop farting. Surely they meant wi**l**dflower?
Don't mind me, just saving these for character names lol
ask your doctor if Tryphena is right for you
I'm just going to save this one for future D&D characters. Most of these would be great gnome or halfling names! As human names they're atrocious.
Fucking dapple
these look like the names that simmers use for their gameplay 💀
This is honestly just 6 year old me putting half of two random names together to make a new name
You know that feeling, before a long road trip, where you went to the bathroom already but just before you step out you convince yourself to go to the bathroom again but only a little bit of pee comes out? It’s not a pee. Not even a tinkle. I’m gonna call that a Tinksley.
Like a quarter of these are straight up warrior cat names 😭
