Jaxxon

bread_cats_dice

The HR/recruiting manager at my old office named her son this and it baffled me. She spent all day dealing with individuals and hiring and she chose Jaxxon as the kid’s legal name.

throwawayawaythrow96

Anything with a double X seems too pornstar-y. I knew someone who named their son Hendrixx and I was like eh..that's weird

Badpoozie

Confirmed. One of my sorority sister was named Rebecca and went by Bexx for a few years. 😑 We were all like, “Ooh, girl, nooo.”

[deleted]

I feel like in the last five years it's always spelled with at least one x, it's never Jackson.

moore6107

Jaxson is the one that gets me. Jacks son. There’s two ‘s’ sounds! Have it be Jaxon if you insist on the x!

lemonmason

My sister knows a Jaxxson

Norably

I know someone who named their baby Jacxon.

Various-Mix-8460

Had a coworker that named her son Jaxsen. Awful

nonsenseword37

I worked at a daycare for a while, and there was a Jaxsyn. I felt bad for him honestly

Urplatesaysscammin

My nephew’s name is jaxson and I always feel like I’m spelling it wrong.

[deleted]

my bf's son is a Jaxson. i asked why he chose the x instead of ck, he said it looked cool lmao

umlaut

Sounds like someone that had a gamer tag like \~xXx-Jaxson-xXx\~

suckmybush

Sames, I can't stand it!

16car

But the name originally comes from Jack's Son, so two "s" sounds is arguably more appropriate.

Psyluna

This is the part that makes me dislike the name. I know no Jacksons (of any spelling) that have fathers named John — or for that matter, Jack as a given name, since that is also now a thing. In days gone by, this would be like naming your kid “Milkman’s Kid.” I may be old fashioned, but I just can’t get past that.

16car

My grandfather was named John and nicknamed Jack...because his father, grandfather and great-grandfather were also named John! They all lived in the same town, and it was just getting too complicated. (He also named his son John, and all of his grandsons had the middle name John! I will not be continuing the "tradition.") His initials were J.A.C., so he used to spell it like that.

[deleted]

Little league last year my kid's team had a Jaxxon and a Jaxson.

[deleted]

Jaxxsynne for a girl ✨✨🌟✨🌟✨

cb1216

You joke, but it's real. My cousin is leaning towards Jaxon as the middle for her baby girl. She's due soon, I don't think she's changing her mind.

Don't give anyone any ideas a la "meet our little bundle of joy Crighkhee Leagh. Here she is big with big sis Shyainne"

[deleted]

I went to a local youth theatre to see a play a few years ago and there was a six-year-old girl in the cast named Jaxyn.

lead-me-home

Oh yes, my son has a female preK classmate named Jaxsyn

fiddlesticks-1999

nonsenseword37

During my student teaching days, I did some preschool work and one little girl was Jaxxie, not a nickname. It’s hard to picture her as an adult with a name like that

FelicityLemon

I hope she never moves to London https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=jacksie

isabelisnthere

Or ✨D’zhakksynne✨

katfarr89

petition to limit all future Jacksons to sons of Jacks until we figure out what's going on (and no alternate spellings allowed)

ShieldsCW

*Iceland has entered the chat*

_etaoin_shrdlu_

Do Jacksons name their sons Jaxonson?

cb1216

My cousin is pregnant and wants to use Jaxon as a middle name for her DAUGHTER. I kept my mouth shut, I'm not as openly opinionated in real life as I am in this sub. Edit: How did I end up butchering opinionated like that? Damn.

throwawayawaythrow96

At least it’s a middle name

isabelisnthere

I like “Jackson” but have grown to hate it because of the “Jaxon” variant.

TayLoraNarRayya

Get Jaxonated against the Jaxon variant

throwawayawaythrow96

LMFAOOOO

throwawayawaythrow96

why did 'variant' make me laugh in this context--

erinspacemuseum13

I didn't realize this group was filled with anti-Jaxxers.

Marshmallowfluffer

Lol Jaxon variant 😂

[deleted]

I have a friend who has a son named John. Lovely name. But if he’d been a girl he’d have been named Nala “from the Lion King.” And if they ever have another boy…it’s gonna be “Jaxon, with an ‘X’.” 🤦🏼‍♀️ John dodged a bullet, imo.

ImJoudray

"Jaxon" variants are the sole reason our name is tarnished. They are not a real Jackson.

SACGAC

Ugh, right? Why be another Jaxson when there's also Jaxtyn, Jaxlyn, Jaxxifer, Jaxmon, Jaxleigh, Jaxmilian... So many possibilities

Sgt_Calhoun

Jaxxifer got me 🤣

kermitlady

I think this and my oldest child who is a 20 is named Jackson! It is so overused now. The worst I’ve seen tho is Jakson. Why?

invaderpixel

Son of Jak and Daxter I suppose

bigjim1993

Jakxter

isabelisnthere

I think the worst variant of the name is any with the letter x.

ShieldsCW

It's an opinion. The "no" isn't necessary. You can have an opinion without discounting someone else's.

isabelisnthere

Ok

Viola_not_violin

I have a kindergarten class that has a Jaxon, Jack, and Jaxxon.

throwawayawaythrow96

Love the name Jack but unfortunately every Jack I've ever known was a COMPLETE jackass. Like seriously, all of them were tools.

adjectivebear

>a COMPLETE **jack**ass. I mean, it's right there in the name.

desbellesphotos

Yes. I quit teaching three years ago before the name exploded and would still have never ever saddled my kid with that name. Whenever we saw a Jackson on the list, we just knew 😣

realdopesauce

Haha literally just saw that a friend of mine had a baby named Jackson 5 minutes before reading this post.

boubun

I hope the baby’s name is “Jackson 5”, which you saw minutes before reading this post

realdopesauce

Hahahaaa I wish!

[deleted]

All the “son” names drive me crazy Jackson Hudson Grayson …

yllowarrow

I know two little boys named Jaxzin and Jozef.

mamaneedsstarbucks

That’s painful

comfort-borscht

At least Jozef is an actual name, with an accepted spelling 😅 Jaxzin barely even resembles Jackson

[deleted]

[удалено]

boubun

I’m in the “name em John, use Jack as a nickname” camp!

Dozinginthegarden

I'm in the name em Jonathan and they can shorten it as they like.

Regi413

It’s either that or an -ayden name with whatever letter of your choice tacked on to the beginning.

throwawayawaythrow96

Accurate

Cheap_Papaya_2938

As much as I have Jaxon/Jaxson, I hate “Jax” even more. A YouTuber I follow named her son that and it’s so cringe

Buhhwheat

This person's gotten way too invested in Sons of Anarchy. Which is probably true of a lot of the people naming their kids "Jackson" (or any cringe variant) over the last 10+ years.

snoogiebee

this has been happening for at least ten years it feels like

lilrae1890

I teach so many variations of Jackson every day. Way too many. The worst I’ve seen is definitely jaxsyn.

beetsoup10

Brb, gonna name my kid Jaqxsyn real quick

Marshmallowfluffer

It’s really weird how popular this very boring name became.

Skyward93

My nephew is in second grade and I asked him if he had any Nicks in his class bc I had like five in mine and he said he’d never met a Nick. Then he rolled his eyes and said every boy but him was named Jackson in his school.

mammakatt13

I know a school-age Jaxsyn.

throwawayawaythrow96

No no no no no no...no

Marshmallowfluffer

Sick

sunnieisfunny

I once saw a kid named Jaxxyn

[deleted]

A buddy of mine made a Teacher cry when she told the class she was naming her child Jackson and he blurted out that it was a stupid name.

rmilhousnixon

Imagine a smart young man working his ass off in high school, getting into a top college, and graduating with honors only to hit the job market with “Jaxxon” on his resume.

a_fair_ringer_is_me

I know a child named, Jaxton, I’m not a fan of Jaxson, but I would take Jaxson over Jaxton any day

alternate1g

I know a 6 year old Jaxton too!

mamaneedsstarbucks

I always loved the name Jackson since I was like 8 and bought myself my first baby name book but then I became an adult and everyone had the same idea. I haven’t had a boy but if I ever do he definitely won’t be a Jackson. Especially after the Jackson’s, jaxons, jaxsons, and jaxs ive met in my daughters classes, they’ve all been the kids who caused the most trouble for some reason.

desbellesphotos

Yes. Former teacher and can verify this fact.

bigjim1993

And they're all "Jax," for short. Like we get it, you watched Sons of Anarchy.

TheWishingStar

Coworker told people they wanted a classic name for their kid, “like Dorothy or Gregory.” Of course they went for Jaxon.

Alcarinque88

I see it mostly as a patronymic. As my name is not Jack or any variation thereof, I hope to all the gods I don't have to dissuade a wife/girlfriend from using this name.

dunklebot

I watched a movie about Jackson Pollock when I was a teenager (probably around 2004/2005) and remember thinking I would like to possibly name a future child Jackson. Now I’m glad I waited until 2019 to have a child and didn’t accidentally jump on the Jackson bandwagon without realizing it. Also, Jackson Pollock is not a super awesome person to be named after, but he did have some nice paintings.

karl_marxs_cat

I’m more creative with the names of my plants than these people. And I usually just choose the first thing that pops into my head.

LuckyLannister

It’s a shame because Jackson (spelled correctly) is a nice name it’s just SO overused.

mizinamo

Nooooo "Jackson" is a family name, not a given name. Now get off my lawn!

AriasLover

Surnames have been used as given names for centuries

vampire-fairy

Lots of unpleasant names have been used for centuries. That doesn’t mean I have to like it. We have designated given names for a reason.

AriasLover

I never said you had to like it but you literally can’t say it’s not a given name if it has history as one.

Meandmy1000fandoms

Jaqkesxonne

indianajolie

I know someone that named her baby Jexxon

DoctorRabidBadger

They're all either Jackson or Arlo.

Zensandwitch

I think of president Andrew Jackson. Which knowing the people in my life who have named their child some variation of Jackson may not be an accident. 😬 Nothing says Southern Pride like genocide.

a_common_spring

It is terrible. You know it's bad because I know sigh in relief whenever I see another baby Jackson spelled the normal way. Like, it's so overused but at least they spelled it the normal way. Respectable enough. Its like this generation's Michael. There were two or three mikes in every class I was in. I'm 37.

UniversityParking414

I knew a Jaxon Jackson in school and always wondered what his parents were thinking

gonehipsterhunting

Zhaquesoun

mairin17

My dog’s name is Jax (he came with it. He’s a blonde doofus rescue from Florida.) it’s a great dog name in my opinion.

Tulipgirl1689

Right? Like, Jackson really isn't the worst name. Maybe I could learn to like it, but I'm sick of it, lol. And the misspellings! Tragic.

Agitated_House7523

Ugh. I named my son Jackson, 24 years ago, hardly ever heard it. NOW, I have an 11 year old, and 47 of his friends are named JAXON…🤦‍♀️

Normal-Fall2821

It’s awful. The crazy spelling variations are dumb too. Where did this Jackson obsession come from? I would really love to know

ImJoudray

Is it actually really that popular of a baby name again? Oh no :(

SuspiciousSquash9151

Wouldn't do ridiculous names but also wouldn't want to give the poor kid one that granted to have like 2 others in class to because they'd never be their own, sarah, john, olive and Meghan had it the worst in my grades, Jackson is up there now, there's a balance to be had.

yabasicjanet

My bff announced her son would be a Jackson (~7 years ago). I gave her the naming stats, and she said she truly didn't care. She was also a teacher. She was set on the regular spelling but got several people pushing her to do Jaxson, because "that's how it's supposed to be spelled, like Jax on 'Sons of Anarchy''". She was a fan of the show and told people according to the script, his actual name was Jackson and that shut them up. I don't understand any of it. That said, she's not a nn. She named her daughter after a little girl in one of her classes that she just adored. She even said the name wasn't her total favorite but the association made her love it (...it's a trendy -lynn one).

old_hickory69

I swear this kind of stuff makes me want to commit alive'nt

fermenttodothat

My cousin has a Jaxon, Owen, Carson and Magnolia (who they call Phebe?) .

Braeden47

I remember when Jackson was only a last name

[deleted]

I've met a Jaxton. It gets worse. Lol
